You are still the driver. You can override the accelerator to be get through a situation faster or make it less awkward, just like in cruise control. If you override speed, it will not slow down
In the project dawn videos from inside the Tesla you’ll notice on the car’s screen there is a warning on the bottom left that Dan blurs out. What that warning is saying is that auto braking is disabled. The reason is because the driver is continuously pressing the accelerator petal which disables auto braking when the car detects an object. This has been proven by real Tesla drivers. The guy owns his own FSD company so this shouldn’t shock anyone that he is lying about his biggest competitor Tesla. This is why he spends his money on these ads against Tesla instead of ones displaying his actual software.

If you look at the tweets, there's somebody that took screenshots from inside the cars (in that ad) and the driver is overriding the warnings indicated by FSD.
Some of these were not using full self-driving but just the ADS, some of these were tests of just the automated crash prevention system without any of the autopilot features engaged.
to be fair, FSD is only in beta mode. You're supposed to have your hands on the wheel at all times. I've used FSD for a few months now and it's far from perfect but it does an amazing job. Now knowing the motive of that add, who knows if it was rigged or not. Would love to see the data.

We live in a world full of idiots and these fan boys actually think everyone is going to follow all the rules when using the software. The biggest issue is that this technology is in BETA and untrained, unprofessional drivers are allowed to do whatever they want on public roads with their toys. People will continue to ignore the fact musk has said WE CAN DO THIS NOW SAFER THAN A HUMAN while still being in beta testing and not better or safer than a human. If any of you actually cared about driver safety, pollution and waste you’d realize cars are the issue regardless of the fuel they use. Want less car accidents? You need to have less cars on the road. Want less pollution, you need less factories pumping out cars and the infrastructure required to handle the traffic. A Tesla is still a 9000lb death machine, you are supposed to keep your hands near the wheel to take control in an emergency, not post on tik tok while driving.
That’s not the point. Plus many people are literally sleeping while the car drives. Many, many people are very dumb and the idea of “FSD” will enable their ignorance even more. The fact it’s being tested by untrained customers on public roads is a problem and people will die, unfortunately.
Their FSD algorithms are probably so good that the computer saw the moving dummy kid and didn’t classify it as a person (no moving legs, no swinging arms, it’s clearly a sled with a mannequin on it). Watch Tesla build in this edge case and FSD will learn to deal with it properly.

Based on the super low resolution when you can actually see the screen in the car, it mostly looks like auto steer is off because comparing the things on the screen that are blue, the little steering wheel looks grey - meaning auto steer is off. Also mostly there are unreadable error/warning messages at the bottom left of the screen. This video is much like O'Dowd's previous video which has been thoroughly debunked.
