@LagiNaLangAko23 I wouldn't say late 90s. By then pop basically became different... It was all about hip hop (Tupac, Biggie, ) , Dancy-pop music (N-Sync, Britney, Christina Aguilara, Boyz 2 Men) and alternative groups (No Doubt, Korn) that went mainstream... And the beginning of grunge (Nirvana) . The 80s sound kinda went out in the early 90s. Like 1992 or so. I was in high school then and saw it all go down, while working at a pop radio station in town .
@LagiNaLangAko23 In part you're right, you should also consider that many pop culture products of the 80s (such as movies or songs) remained even beyond the 90s, so technically every person influenced by the pop colture of the 80's could feel nostalgia. For example I have never seen the 90's, (so not even the 80's... until somebody will release a strange delorian) but anyway i perceive a slight sense of nostagy by listening to this. :')
TH-cam Comments Suck chill down, sir. today's generation somehow driven to the depiction that 80s music are plain prehistoric. they need to be informed that Marlboro Smoker is the artist who made this evergreen hit. the 2016 version disappointing as well, unable to relive the same spirit of the song

Why do I feel like I'm 16 in the middle of prom night, looking over at one of the popular guys who would never go for someone like me. I've been in love with him since I first saw him in the hallway at school. I've put hearts around his photo in the year book and I dream of him every single day. This version makes me feel so many things I've never felt before. Geez
On a similar note, makes me feel like it's the end of prom, and the head of student council calls out the prom king and queen. The beautiful girl I've been in love for longer than I'd care to admit gets called. She comes towards the stage, and our eyes lock for a split second. She smiles, I smile and... She goes up on stage to join her boyfriend, who's been named prom king. Damn.

this was a big hit in the 80's indeed. i remember this played during our prom as well, and then afterwards chad and i would sneak in behind the bushes and the school guard almost caught us making out. hahaha. good times. i'm adam, by the way.
I remember lying in bed with my boyfriend, smoking some cigarretes, watching the sunset through the window. All the room was in yellow colour and listening this song. 80's awesome time.
Closer (1986 Version) went #1 on the Billboard Charts for about 25 weeks lol xDD (Summer 1986-Spring 1987). Class of '87 represent! RIP Halsey (1963-1994) and Taggart (1958-2001)
MSP10julia girl, when "Tag-man" Taggart gone, I was so shocked, I cudnt believe he could hide all the detrimental health problems he had, just like Freddy Mercury. no more singer-songwriter that can match him, especially for 80's music. we miss you, Tag-man
Halsey's death was a hoax for the longest time, 1994 was a weird year... she's still going strong in music these days! She's actually working on a new EP I think.
One of my most cherished memories... May 1985. Last dance of the school year. 16-year-old me finally works up the courage to ask Rosalie for a slow dance. What started out as awkward but raging teenage hormones grew into the love of each other's lives. We're still together to this day. Truth be told Roe and I don't care for that cover version by what's-their-names that's been all over the radio. But our daughter loves that one.
me too! :DD It plays on the radio all the time while I was playing "Super Mario Bros." . :D Sadly we're in our 50s and this song is now on the oldies station rather than a normal pop station back in our days .lol xD
there is no sampled music used in this song.. I think you mean that the uploader using another song then mixed it with chainsmokers lyric right? if you mean like that.. as far as I know that the uploader (owner of this channel) makes the music itself. with some music producing software and make it like so 80's catchy pop music..
@@kottonkandy0962 Exactly. They had that huge breakup power ballad before getting back together in the 90s. I'll never understand why they stopped playing Electric dance music and started playing that trash
They're called Blink-182 for a reason, Blink released their first album in '82 and were immediately skyrocketed into stardom. They never forgot what put them on the map... so humble 😢😭
wow, the memories. I am smoking a Marlboro atm, and remembering how I slow danced to this at my high school prom in 1989. it was the number 1 song that week of late May, right next to Roxette's "The Look". 5🌟!!
Oh man, I remember when I was just seventeen, and I was in love with my best friend, Jason Dean. He was a little bit crazy, but hey, it was the 80's. One day before prom, I got very sick and the doctor told me to rest at home, I wouldn't be able to attend prom. But Jason knew how much I really wanted to go, so the next day, he came to my house in secret, and with the help of my parents he decored the whole place. When my mom called me for dinner, I went down and got the most beautiful surprise of my life. As I couldn't go to prom, Jason brought prom to my house. I got dressed and danced all night with him, and when this song came out, he asked me to be his girlfriend. I couldn't be any happier, I said yes of course. Now we're married, and yes, we danced to this song in our wedding.
Why do I feel like crying? I was born in the mid 90s but why does the it feels so familiar to me it's almost like I lived through it, it gets me everytime when I listen to the 80s music.
The video: Halsey starts up her motorcycle and as she speeds down the road the song starts playing. She meets up with the Chainsmokers at a motocross. When she takes off her helmet, Andrew Taggart sings, "Hey I was doin' just fine before I met you." Alex Pall then opens up the doors of a Range Rover. They all jump in it and start cruising down the street while singing the song. They then stop at a concert where they perform the song with thousands of screaming fans there. The video ends with Halsey and Andrew sharing a hug.
And ofcourse the camera keeps spinning around them and slowly zooming out at the final shot for 2 minutes. You remember? I loved that part, it teared me up.
Legend. Period. The reason this sounds so good is not only the production and riffs but the elaborate usage of chords and great chord progression...which sadly can't be reproduced or conjured up by most of today's 'musicians'. Play 3 chords and suddenly you're a musician? Don't think so. This guy keeps it real.
A lot of musicians can reproduce this (at least those who actually study music). I think you’re getting them confused with artists who don’t create this type of chord progression or any chord progression in general. Also it’s just the change in music. I like a lot of old songs and remixes like this one but that doesn’t mean I hated the original
Ahh yes these were the songs of my youth. 1985, listening to The Smokers and Justin R. Bieber may he rest in peace. Can't believe it's been 34 years. We might get older but this song will always remind us of our time. Listening in December 2018.
it’s crazy how almost 30 years ago I was at my winter ball in high school as a sophomore against a wall with nobody to dance with until this tall boy with glasses as big as shot glasses and braces with a shy smirk had walked up to me sticking this shivering arm out so scared to ask me to dance hand shaking I took him into my arms And held him wrapping his hands around my waist as this song played and we danced all night even after it stopped playing I think in both of our heads we kept replaying it he kissed me right b4 I was going to tell him I had to go as I ran out the gym to my moms car in the backseat smiling ... he’s my husband today I just wish kids nowadays knew how this felt #1985 💛💛💛💛

@@Bob-kv4es *1968 she lied about her age so she could make sexual songs (the more marketable type of song) without facing backlash.

This was the song I played back in 1984 for my first girlfriend in highschool, which in the end turned out to be my wife. Oh the memories
this was a big hit in the 80's indeed. i remember this played during our prom as well, and then afterwards chad and i would sneak in behind the bushes and the school guard almost caught us making out. hahaha. good times.
i'm adam, by the way.
Jonan Tobing That's very sweet. I'd love to share something like that but my life is fucked up :D
This was the song I played back in 1984 for my first girlfriend in highschool, which in the end turned out to be my sister. Oh the memories.
That guitar solo makes this song the best
That's only 30 years, not anywhere near death, unless you think 40 is the average lifespan .
I remember lying in bed with my boyfriend, smoking some cigarretes, watching the sunset through the window. All the room was in yellow colour and listening this song. 80's awesome time.
Just noticed the vocals and music are mastered to sound like they’re analog...dang man, you covered everything!
I remember losing my virginity to this song back in '83. It was one of my best moments in life.
Brian Popoca 😂😂
Dad?!
Brian Popoca I remember losing my hearing to this.
Dafuq.
so you never lost your virginity?
Closer (1986 Version)
went #1 on the Billboard Charts for about 25 weeks lol xDD (Summer 1986-Spring 1987).
Class of '87 represent!
RIP Halsey (1963-1994) and Taggart (1958-2001)
MSP10julia girl, when "Tag-man" Taggart gone, I was so shocked, I cudnt believe he could hide all the detrimental health problems he had, just like Freddy Mercury. no more singer-songwriter that can match him, especially for 80's music. we miss you, Tag-man
Lol
MSP10julia I mentally read that in the voice of Casey Kasem
Halsey's death was a hoax for the longest time, 1994 was a weird year... she's still going strong in music these days! She's actually working on a new EP I think.
Whatever happened to Alex Pall? Last time I heard of him, he was charged for several accounts of sexual assault back in '05.
I heard this on a reel and came searching. It's SO GOOD.
But the fact that this sounds way better shows how 80's music is powerful

What if an alternate reality these songs really did come out in the 80's? 🤔
I guess those would have been top 10 hits back at those days.
Preach... That would blow my mind
Don’t do this to me. I’m not ready for this realization yet.
But then if it was backwards than assuming that it is possible for 80's singers coming out with there music today.
But in 80's they already have the sh¡t music as 17 in our reality

1000000% agree!!!
Yes! A lot of 80's remixes are sometimes a bit :/ but this one is amazing, took true talent
@@scottbaker5421 check out boys boys boys 80s remix by exile, it's so good-
Absolutely
the one
One of my most cherished memories... May 1985. Last dance of the school year. 16-year-old me finally works up the courage to ask Rosalie for a slow dance. What started out as awkward but raging teenage hormones grew into the love of each other's lives. We're still together to this day. Truth be told Roe and I don't care for that cover version by what's-their-names that's been all over the radio. But our daughter loves that one.
Fun fact : a band called 'The Chainsmokers' made a remix of this song in 2016
they made it too modern. shoulda kept the 80s vibe :(
Okay this comment made my day!
Yeah, i never knew that it was a remix until my dad told me.
The cover is pretty bad compare to this
Ruined a perfect classic... nothing beats the 80s
I had tears in my eyes! 🥰 Felt young again.
Hi
Modern version: Oh yeah cool.
80s version: *cries from nostalgia*
I loooove the official "modern" production..
But this one... Omg.. It's a totally different thing.. Takes me to places!!
For me
Modern version = Sound pollusion
THIS 80s remix = MASTERPIECE
There ‘s a modern version?
As an 80’s kid … this is the absolute amazing remix brought back so many memories just perfect use of all the 80’s beats
i love this more than the normal "modern" version:D omg the chords dude sooooooo gooood

Oh 2:23 wow there's some clever shit there I think it's a suspended 4th. Edit: no it's a 7th
I remember getting home from school and seeing this on MTV everyday. Better times. Thanks for uploading this, I couldn't find it anywhere else!
me too! :DD It plays on the radio all the time while I was playing "Super Mario Bros." . :D Sadly we're in our 50s and this song is now on the oldies station rather than a normal pop station back in our days .lol xD
Ikhlas Mubaraq Song name please?
Louis N.C. Tan "(We ain't) never getting older by Marlboro Smokers, slick.
there is no sampled music used in this song.. I think you mean that the uploader using another song then mixed it with chainsmokers lyric right? if you mean like that.. as far as I know that the uploader (owner of this channel) makes the music itself. with some music producing software and make it like so 80's catchy pop music..
Wait Blink-182 didn't exist 'till 90's....
This means The Marlboro Smokers were WAY AHEAD of their time!
Woah.
What are you talking about? You don't remember Blink-182? They had that huge hit in 83. Kids nowadays man
I thought that Blink disappeared for a while on a break working on themselves as people before getting back together in the 90s?
@@kottonkandy0962 Exactly. They had that huge breakup power ballad before getting back together in the 90s. I'll never understand why they stopped playing Electric dance music and started playing that trash
They're called Blink-182 for a reason, Blink released their first album in '82 and were immediately skyrocketed into stardom. They never forgot what put them on the map... so humble 😢😭
The Game - They were forgotten after the break but came back into the public eye in the 90s. A real good comeback story, I gotta say.
This song brings back so much memories that I don't even have.
wow, the memories.
Plot twist : it's really happening irl
this is too epic!! xD
Proud of you and your relationship :")
Daisy Boup same here in 1985. Remember dancing to this song during prom. Now we are happily married with 3 children.
Daisy Boup JaSoN DeAnN?
That drum beat at 1:32 killed me 😂😂😂
Why do I feel like crying? I was born in the mid 90s but why does the it feels so familiar to me it's almost like I lived through it, it gets me everytime when I listen to the 80s music.
The video:
Halsey starts up her motorcycle and as she speeds down the road the song starts playing.
Ahh yes, the memories...
You still got that video cassette with you? Antique material right there.
And ofcourse the camera keeps spinning around them and slowly zooming out at the final shot for 2 minutes. You remember? I loved that part, it teared me up.
It's a typical 80s music video concept :))
Legend.
I will never be depressed again.
That solo is spot on. Also, the pink polo tucked into the pink pants is glorious
Ahh yes these were the songs of my youth. 1985, listening to The Smokers and Justin R. Bieber may he rest in peace. Can't believe it's been 34 years. We might get older but this song will always remind us of our time. Listening in December 2018.
Time traveling doesn't exists, but fortunately, this remix does

It's surprising because this 80's arrangement has more chord variations than the original. The thing that music nowadays are lacking.
Chords + variations = feels
what are you talking about? this is the original...
Good point there! Chord variation can really spice up a song!:D
In simpler words:
80's songs are the best
In simpler words, they probably arent lacking more chords, what if the music that they want to portray is supposed to be a simple type.

When my kids will ever ask me how they were made, i'm gonna tell them about the legend of the MALBORO SMOKERS
it’s crazy how almost 30 years ago I was at my winter ball in high school as a sophomore against a wall with nobody to dance with until this tall boy with glasses as big as shot glasses and braces with a shy smirk had walked up to me sticking this shivering arm out so scared to ask me to dance hand shaking I took him into my arms
And held him wrapping his hands around my waist as this song played and we danced all night even after it stopped playing I think in both of our heads we kept replaying it he kissed me right b4 I was going to tell him I had to go as I ran out the gym to my moms car in the backseat smiling ... he’s my husband today I just wish kids nowadays knew how this felt #1985 💛💛💛💛
