  • This video shows how to access the passenger side HVAC Blend door actuator in a 2004 Lexus RX330. The symptom is clicking heard from the dash and/or no heat on just the passenger side.
Here is a link to the new actuator installed and functioning:

@@Christopher-mi6qe I am curious about replacing the 2 plastic screws on the panel, for some reason I am struggling, any pointers? They seem so easy to go back on.

@@katieturner7361 Those are half turn fasteners on my car and they don't lock super well but have not rattled loose or anything since the repair. Good luck.

Thank you for that. I have a 2002 Lexus Es 300. The vents will not change from dash, to floor to windshield. It just stopped working while on a long trip. I think I now know where to start looking.

My 2004 RX330 vents will direct the air successfully but it's having a a problem with the Fresh air/recirculate function. It seems to be stuck in the fresh air mode. Does your new part address this too?
Good video and the Lexus has been a great car to own.

My RX330 only blows through the front defrost vent no matter vents are selected. Any ideas?

Probably the actuator, which was discussed in the video. If you listen carefully you may notice a subtle "zhhht-zhhht-zhhht" kind of noise from under the dash (or maybe it was doing that but finally gave up fully.) That's the actuator trying to change positions but failing. That's what mine is doing, so it's in the process of failing.

Have you replaced the driver side also? I think both of mine are bad.

I have not, but I think the drivers side is easier because you don't have the glove box in the way. I believe there is a kick panel by the drivers foot that comes off and you are good to go.

So would this effect my vent by not allowing it to switch form dash vents to windshield because i don’t get defrost but it blows heat and air to the car from the dash and feet

It would be a similar actuator but in a different location. I bet if you took this kick panel off and the one on the driver side you will find it. Run the system with the panels off and see which one is stumbling or not moving when you switch to defrost.

    Is2006 RX 300 the same?

    • @Christopher-mi6qe

I don't know for sure, but Toyota is very good about standardized systems. The kick panels take very little time to remove and you can see the actuators, I'm sure this would apply to an 06 RX300, its only 2 years newer.
