Was addicted to gambling and Jesus delivered me. Got into a Pentecostal Church and cheerfully pay my tithes and offerings. What a difference to give to the work of God.
7:47 Just curious, what is meant by "stumble and fall" in this context? Does it mean loss of salvation? Or is it related to life-struggle while yet within/under the grace and mercy of God?
If it is a sin to gamble why do so many churches have raffles?? You give money for a ticket hoping your number is called to win the door prize. How is that any different than playing the lottery or a slot machine?
From personal experience, many people who donate in order to participate in church raffles are not even interested in winning the prize. The money donated into these raffles are used to further advance God’s kingdom. There is a difference. Church members give into raffles in order to support a cause, not in hopes of winning. While some of them may desire to win, that’s not the main purpose of a raffle. It is to raise money which will be used by the Church to bring others to Christ.
Also provided a letter for any UPC pastor to give to any member who wants a medical exemption. He has made his position clear. He is in favor of people making a free choice.
I think if someone buy the lotery and win ,they don't take away from someone they are the ones who brought it first is only because they lose, and what about some who are in a deplorable situation even homeless and they brought it,i think depends on the condition ,is paying thithes is gambling people pay thithe to church and still you have a lot of less fortunate people who they refused to help homeless, medical challenges, jobless etc ,so that maybe of cause to gambling
So, if you are working, it is ok to gamble? Also, why is general conference a must be registered? So if a sinner comes up to the door. They can't get in if not registered. Church politics are the worst.
Agree, that gambling is against biblical principles. However, it is easy to understand the poor, those who have yet not learned to trust in the Lord.. These who travel to casinos already have money. Most poor people, who also can't go out and get a job because of severe mental disability, life circumstances, PTSD, disabled, have little hope. Too, should the church be utilizing saints' tithes to invest? Investing in land, property can also be a risk. Maybe a look at all angles of how to be good steward's of other people's money needs to be addressed.
Dr.Bernard if a member of your congregation won a $5 million dollar lottery would you take the tithe from it? Most Minister I know would. I would have a difficult time believing that any would refuse it. Most if not all would respond with I could do so much for the kingdom.
I agree to an extent but I personally don’t see sitting down with a couple of friends once’s every few months to play poker sinful. It’s usually only 20 bucks a game I do it mainly to socialize. But I have never taken part in iN any type of big gambling anywhere. I understand the biblical principal in Galatians 5;9 and for that reason I don’t see my self falling into a sin like that because I do believe the words of our brother Bernard! I wished they could have touched in the subject of only once in a long time type of scenario .
It’s hypothetically speaking. In my life I’ve never heard of a Christian gambling and donating the tithe. It’s absurd. I would find it hard to believe that a true Christian who gives tithe and offering would be gambling. If they are giving to church they are most likely being good stewards with their finances. Sure there may be some Christians who gamble but I believe it’s rare. Just a thought.
Investing in stocks & other businesses is a greater risk then a dollar lottery ticket. No matter how we look at it, stocks and investing is a form of gambling & many of us saints invest “gamble”
Dr. Bernard, I appreciate your insight and agree that gambling is a sin and also really dumb; but I think that investing (401K, Mutual Funds, Stocks, Cryptocurrencies) is also a form of gambling, the difference is that is a more calculated risk than playing for example the lottery, but in the end you speculating and "hoping" for the price to go up. Also, I have seen the same behavior that gamblers have in people "investing" specially now that you can invest easier and fractions of stocks and crypto using app platforms. 401Ks, Mutual Funds, ETFs, seem safer and less speculative but it is still like a large of gamblers betting on a pool of stocks with the hope that the fund manager chose the "right tickets/number" but there is still a chance of losing all your money.
I should have read your entire statement. More than ever before we live in a very uncertain world and if we ever trusted God it should be now. It seems that we are making more preparations to stay here than preparing for the coming of the Lord.
By that logic it’s gambling to start your own business and it’s also gambling your life to get in your vehicle and drive down the highway because there is a chance you’ll get in an accident. Doesn’t matter what you do in life there is always a risk associated. The fact of the matter is it’s actually unwise to not invest your money you lose it because of inflation.
Agreed… I’ve interrupted conversation on the pulpit platform about breakfast and commodity exchanges as a good way to start the day. It’s basically looked at as the less the risk the less the sin.
You are incorrect. When you invest in stocks, you are NOT gambling. When you risk hard earned capital and the capital of others when you start a business you are not gambling! When you marry someone, you are not gambling. Many aspects of life bear some degree of risk. Because their is an element of risk to something, does not mean you are gambling!
.Spread the gospel before it’s too late because when the seven trumpets blow Jesus will come down to earth and ask if you spread the gospel and you can’t lie because he knows when your lying so don’t lie! Love God Jesus and Holy Sprit spread the gospel and repent for your sins and read the Bible before its to late Jesus died on the cross for your sins!…

I really enjoy these weekly podcasts! Thank you!
Thanks for clearing this up for me, may God bless you. Amen!
Thank you very pastor, for saving many souls, lost into gambling and betting system. God bless you.
Absolutely love these! Please don’t stop.
All of what you said plus the fact that gambling is rooted in greed.
Is there anyway you could do a episode on foot washing. Or do any of your books address this?
I love Bishop Bernard!

How about just working with the company without necessarily being involved in the gambling itself?
What about the stock market or buying an asset. Those are both risks and somewhat gambling right? I’ve always struggled with that idea.

Dr. David K. Bernand is okay to get vaccinated (covid vaccine)?
Also provided a letter for any UPC pastor to give to any member who wants a medical exemption. He has made his position clear. He is in favor of people making a free choice.
I believe he answered this question in a previous episode.
If you go to his page and click on videos, it should be there.
He already answered it and said yes. Here's the link: th-cam.com/video/8v_UyQUFfEw/w-d-xo.html
Dr Bernard handled this really neat in Episode 7 of this series:

I would love to see an episode on hypnosis
We can't be sober minded nor have the Mind of Christ if something or someone else other than the holy ghost controls our minds.

Agreed
I hate to break it but the stock market is the same as gambling if your perception is correct
Buying stocks = buying a share of a company and it's future cash flow. How is that in any way comparable.

Because gambling is a game of chance maybe you should cross the stock market off your list because of how much it fluctuate s.
