Just finished running my Gen3 in. The addition of cruise control & the comprehensive electronics package have finally put the big 'Busa ahead of the previously class-leading ZZR1400. The lower torque curve make for a far more practical bike, the excellent seat means emptying a tank before the need to stretch the legs is possible, oh, it does in the mid to high 40s mpg. Add in the stability from such a long wheel-frame, and its incredible engine and I for one am not disappointed. This is my 6th Hayabusa, and by far the best all-round package of the lot.

Nice review of an iconic beast. I couldn't remotely justify buying one but I really like it. Makes me chuckle when people say this version is rubbish because it's less powerful before they've even ridden it.

Hi ...no it's more powerful in the mid range so it actually feels stronger :)

People who chase numbers, probably don't really ride to any level! A peak figure at a level you rarely reach is worth less than consistent power all the way through!

It's not so much the speed it's the utterly ridiculous effortless thrust any revs any gear what an absolute icon 😍

I've had mine for two weeks and loving it. Handling is much sharper and sportier than I expected, I believe Suzuki sharpened up the steering angle this generation.

    12 month update
What a first year on my gen 3 Hayabusa. I can happily report back that this bike is absolutely fabulous for what I want and need it for which is generally long distance day trips. Warwickshire to Dorset being my usual run to visit family, and it does these 400 mile days with ease, and in comfort. I rarely stop for a break on the way there other than to refuel (I'm getting 50mpg on a run). On the way home I will stop for fuel and usually to stretch my legs for 5 minutes before I join the M40 from the A34. I quickly got used to the higher pegs which some reviewers have mentioned as being uncomfortable, but do need to replace the stock screen as it directs the airflow right at my face meaning it makes it impractical to crack the visor open at anything above @20mph.
So much power there is never really any need to pin the throttle open. Indeed I would go as far as saying it wouldn't really be possible to do so in any gear for more than a few seconds or you'll be doing 'go to jail' speeds. Cruise control is a godsend, and easy to use, and the noise from the engine is sublime. Incidentally, I haven't wasted thousands on an aftermarket exhaust as I see no point whatsoever wasting money to free up "a few more horses" that no normal rider needs or would use.
In 2024 I am considering a week long trip, possibly the NC500, possibly The Pyrenees. After much deliberation on changing it for an ADV (anything BUT a GS) I have decided the big bad 'Busa is more than capable of what I will need a machine to do, so it won't be leaving my company any time soon.
Hope this helps anyone considering buying one of these extremely competent bikes.

For me, this bike is my aspirational motorcycle. I don't even want to go fast on it; it's a bike that feels like it was made just for me (as a large rider), and I love how stable the bike is. Lots to learn on my bike still, but someday....someday I'll own one of these.

I am a relative newcomer to Mark's videos, and enjoy them a lot. Great informative content and well shot. How can I complain, when everything is nice, with the script nicely done and nicely delivered at a nice volume in a nice voice from a nice guy whose character is obviously nicely suited to keeping nice bikes nicely burbling along at a nice rate to nicely entertain nice subscribers.
I would hope that maybe Mark will go through a couple of his videos and count how many times he says 'nice'. Fifty years ago my English-teacher Dad warned me against using the word. The lesson stands a half century later.
That sole gripe apart, please do keep up the good work. As a fellow shorty, I really enjoy the regular cutaway to show how a man who is not long of inseam can (or can't) comfortably tackle the seat heights of all the bikes reviewed. Now THAT is a nice feature.

Thanks for the review. It’s a big, warp-speed docile assassin. And that’s the problem. You have to be so disciplined riding it to keep a clean license but, if you can be disciplined, what a gentleman’s sport tourer. Real presence in the car park with an unstressed engine that will go on forever. It doesn’t need electronic suspension. If it were mine I would (as you suggested) replace the silencers with lighter options, add a double bubble and possibly fit bar risers. That would be it. Would I buy one? Uh…..if folding (and space) were not issues, yes. As it is, I’d take the last of the Super Blackbird and save lots ££££££s.

The old Hayabusa was the best-looking sports tourer on the market. This is just as attractive. I had a B-King for over seven years. The most flexible engine I've experienced. It would pull from 1,000 rpm in top gear which equated to 20 mph. What's more, it would run at this rpm in top with no throttle. Incredible but true. I rarely exploited its potential. And certainly not at the top-end. The brakes were amazing; it was so stable; the front suspension was the best I'd experienced. The best bike I've ever owned. I should have kept it.

IDK. Glad Suzuki has kept making the Hayabusa and that you've test ridden it albeit 13 miles and shared your thoughts, but would say a lighter bike, just as fast be better e.g. BMW S1000RR or SDR 3.0 or a Fireblade or indeed an old Honda Blackbird? Dunno. I think some one would really have to want a big heavy bike like this in spite of how fast it is. As you say Suzuki have made a really nice job of the dash. 10/10.
I notice you had your knee sliders on. Did you manage to get your knee down on it? Of course you wouldn't have included that footage in this video or indeed even want to admit it!

Thanks Mark. I have never ridden one of these sports bikes. I'm sure it's an experience...
It's like the MT10, you have to be so careful with throttle modulation. Flickable is not really something these bikes were made for. Trained modulation. You did a great job of demonstrating that.
I remember when I lived in Sarasota, FL back in 2000. The Ringling Brothers Barnum & Bailey Circus have had the winter home there for many many years.
The circus people like bikes... and they ride high power sports bikes like they ride unicycles... on one wheel.
One night while on my way home I saw this guy wheelie a big sports bike high on the real wheel. No big deal right? But then he stood on the saddle with one foot while doing his circus swan maneuver with both hands and a leg stretch out like a swan ready to land.
Because he had no hands on the controls, I figured he was demonstrating the proper use of cruise control. Meanwhile I was wondering if he was going to crash or not. He didn't.
He went several hundred feet down the road this way until he was satisfied that everyone else noticed him, before stealthily sliding back into the saddle, hands on the controls, then ease off the throttle and allow the front wheel to lower by about 20° before gunning it on one wheel to keep it off the ground.
Yikes... clowns or circus performers... doesn't matter.
