- Hey guys!
This has been a video I’ve put off filming for a long while now, I wasn’t sure whether I’d ever actually talk about it fully but seeing as we have decided that we won’t be selling him I didn’t see a point in keeping it all a secret anymore! It’s been a tough old 10 months for both myself mentally and Ryan physically, a lot of disappointments but I’m hoping that things can start looking up for him now we’ve hopefully figured out what was causing him all these problems and with some maintaining he can live a long happy life enjoying his work!
Please refrain from commenting anything negative, we physically could not have known about the problems found when the mri was re-looked at until it happened and trust me I have been kicking myself for a long time knowing I was still riding him whilst he was in pain but I couldn’t have known at the time & im just glad that in the end we did find out what else was going on and have managed to help him!
I hope this gives you all a bit more of an insight as to what we’ve been going through & can send Ryan lots of love as he deserves it!
Thank you for watching :)

I needed this, gives me hope for my horse who's also been having issues for over a year. It's so so hard isn't it! Well done you for sticking with it though, fingers crossed for you and Ryan!
Thank you very much! Try and stay positive, keeping everything crossed for you too that your baby mends soon! Xx
What an odyssey. You mentioned that the farrier found signs of bruising but no signs of other issues like abscesses or corns. Could the initial bruising have been caused simply by using the wrong sort of horseshoe? Or was it a combination of the shoes plus the less than ideal pastern angles and white line disease? All of that in addition to the strain to the deep flexor tendon could have caused a perfect storm that led to mild navicular changes. It’s always hard to know which came first, the chicken or the egg.
You should feel good about persevering in this matter. It’s brilliant that you caught it and addressed it when he is so young. These complex lameness issues are the worst.
Exactly that it’s so hard to tell, we did so many x rays to try and shoe him correctly for his angles as they weren’t great at all but obviously x rays only show bone not soft tissue so we had no idea what was happening on that behalf! He did have corns but only recently (over xmas time) which have now gone and has never had an abscess! He never actually had white line disease either we don’t think, we think it was just bruising which was making it look like that as when we treated for white line disease it made no difference🙈it’s so difficult to know though as you said as to what was the initial thing that started the whole process….hopefully we have got it under control now though🤞🏼thank you so much!
When you inject a horses leg at a young age it helps fills in the gaps that haven't fused yet helping the horses legs support it's self better. In older horses when you inject its kinda the same thing but when injected the bone or muscle that has been warn away is filled in so they are not feeling the bone rubbing on bone and creates a cushion.
This is a great way of putting it thank you!
@@jumpingbryan7488 your welcome 🤗
A lot of horses tend to get laminitus off really short grass as the new shoots are full of sugar with little fibre, I always try to have them on longer grass if possible. So glad he is feeling better!
Unfortunately our grass doesn’t grow very well here so most of the time it’s really short so it’s such a pain! Thank you😊
I have only just started this sort of stuff recently with my absolute saint of a mare- 2 weeks into staying at the vets after fracturing her humorous and falling over- she is now happy as ever with the help of polos but she is looking at months of rest and rehab. I cant wait to get her both back home as well as get her working again! Wishing the best of luck with Ryan
Oh wow bless your girl! Hopefully you can get her feeling back to herself again soon enough, sending my love! Thank you 😊
Honestly stuff like that can be so stressful last year my horse had to have a operation on both of his back legs it’s the most confusing this to explain but his signs of it was as changing lead when not asking and not being able to use himself as much from behind he’s good atm but on Thursday getting his back X-rayed for other things hopefully is good 😊 hopefully only good things for you and Ryan 💗
Thank you very much! I hope your boy is on the mend ❤️
Feel your pain it’s so hard when they are not right, mentally draining. Bruising 💯 would have caused some lameness from experience with my lad as he too is a sensitive soul! However I am so pleased for you that he is in such a good place after all your hard work!!! ❤️❤️❤️ can feel the comeback is going to be epic!!! xx
Thank you I really hope so!! Yes I agree I do think the bruising had something to do with it! Xx
Lovely Ryan ..very best wishes xxx
Thank you! Xx

Thank you ❤️
🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🍀🍀🍀🍀 2022 is Ryan's come back year.
Love to Ryan. Very informative video x
Bless him, best of luck❤️
Thank you❤️
I'll also say this that some horses with mild navicular show no signs but some horses are wimps and over do pain I had a 20 year old gelding who had an abscess when I had a vet out I was told to put him down due to navicular because he was 3 legged and let me tell you I don't trust most vets with my horses now because of this
I completely agree they’re like humans we all have different pain tolerances! Wow I can’t believe that, thankfully you didn’t listen!!!
@@jumpingbryan7488 amen to that
Oh gosh nightmare, just been through all of this myself. The investigations to get to the bottom of the issue just costs so much money! we went through medication joints etc first - then MrI which found the actual issue £000's later 😵💫😭
Honestly it’s such a long process! I just wish in some ways it was an obvious injury so we had known straight away and could treat it accordingly rather than going around the houses and spending £1000’s 😩
Yay so happy for you that Ryan is doing amazing'!!❤️
Thank you!!
Hope you get everything going smoothly soon has he been tested for Endocrine disease? My old boy (8yrs) had very similar problems and underlying issue was a insulin disorder
We did have a blood test done to check all of his levels to see if it was anything metabolic but everything came back normal! Xx
Needed this my horse has just been diagnosed with navicular too waiting on the mri next week :( what type of shoes is Ryan in ? Xx
So sorry to hear that! Message me on Instagram I can send you photos of his shoeing, but bare in mind every horse is different and some shoes suit some horse and others don’t, we tried around 4/5 different options before we found something he’s happy in! Xx
Awwww bless him and well done for doing so right by him. watching all these ads to help pay those et bills 😂
Thank you appreciate it!!🤣🙈
