I just can’t imagine the thought process behind tying this game into the “Arkhamverse”. Like, who at rocksteady thought killing Batman in that way was a good idea? Hell, even if the audience wasn’t emotionally invested into that version of Batman, and they created an entirely new Batman, this still would’ve felt awful for fans to watch. What Batman fan wants to see him go out that way? Not even mentioning the other crap they pulled on the other DC hero’s. As if Superman wouldn’t have immediately wrecked the entire squad in a nanosecond 😂
Just remember, the subversiveness or mean spirited nature you are seeing of beloved characters and heroes in games lately are not by accident. Its all by design and very intentional.
Not to mention, at the end of the game, Lois Lane has a “tribute to Bruce Wayne/Batman” at the end to thank him for his service… But 99% of metropolis is dead. And Batman’s last memory would be HIM TERRORIZING THEM FOR NEARLY A MONTH. That’s not gonna be remembered well I would think!
@@nhagan001 I was't a big fan of Arkham Knight Story , loved all the other games though. But since this game is all about different universes, i see this batman as just a tree branch of the arkhamverse one.
Financial failure was the reason they went to Sweet Baby - they used ESG Financing back in 2016-19 to pay for the $100+ million, a decade of costs and development and the first Seasons / year of the Live Service. The caveat is that it's a huge loan that WB and Rocksteady have taken. They are on the hook now to stay diverse and activist. Or their new partners will drop them. To pay it back, Rocksteady is going to have to reduce salary, fire key workers, and commit more money to Diversity projects and hiring more women in the company. They have to increase their ESG score to get more loans and backing from ESG partner groups. Some of this can be pandering and paying for conferences, sending their token women to represent the business, but it's a corporate values bingo card. It is a form of cancer that becomes slowly visible.
Below 4000 players on Steam, below 3000 viewers on Twitch Days after launch … DOA The writers “pissed on” peoples heroes, gameplay is bad, repetitive 3 missions (escort the bus) & live service microtransactions battlepass NO ONE wants !! Players asked to be heroes & play as Justice League or a Superman game for years but CEOs shoved D list Villains on players.
50k players on all platforms for a newly launched AAA live service game based on a huge IP? oh cmon that is DOA. That’s not going to recoup a fraction of the dev or marketing costs. We know that launch numbers never last, that number will plummet as people finish the campaign and get tired of the endgame.
MMOs probably too. They're mostly all microtransactions and subscriptions which do not match what you get from them. $15 per month for some small updates and maybe 1-2 major content pieces in a year that can be cleared in a few hours is not worth it. For $120 per year, I would expect the equivalent or more of two full games, especially when you consider most of the foundation is already there. They aren't building something completely from scratch.
i keep saying that on reddit since day one. 1h after the game released on steam there were ppl rating the game positive saying some dumb shit. "AMAZING STORY, AMAZING WORLD" "DONT BUY IF YOU DONT LIKE IT, ITS FOR EVERYONE" i feel like they bought activists and bot accounts , IT IS POSSIBLE.

This game failure is not rocket science: they made a game which is not the preferred type of their established fans (a live service looter-shooter instead of a single player action-adventure game), made it the official follow-up to their most successful series, the Arkham Trilogy (Origins was another studio), despite it not having a similar narrative, atmosphere or gameplay and decided to kill in the most cringe way possible the main character of said trilogy that was the series that put them on the map.
Fact check: Steam implemented their refund policy on June 3rd, 2015, ans Batmna: Arkham Knight was released on June 23rd - nearly three weeks later. Batman: Arkham Knight's terrible PC port did not pressure Valve into changing Steam's return policy; Steam's recently-updated return policy did, however, pressure WB into giving refunds to PC gamers who had bought the game through other distribution channels, including brick and mortal retail.
It failed the moment DC decided to ditch their S tier team, the Justice League, for their C tier team, the Suicide Squad. DC should have seen it coming from how Marvel, their competition did. Marvel's Avengers even though failed still sold better than Guardians of the Galaxy, even though GotG is a better game than Avengers.
POINT OF ORDER: it was Arkham Origins releasing on PC in an utterly busted state and WB Montreal publicly stating that working on the DLC was more important to them than patching the PC release that helped push Steam towards offering refunds. Arkham Knight was just the first high-profile disaster to land after the refund policy was enacted.
Yet another single player dev gone down the shitter. They really showed they didn't care, didn't listen to feedback, didn't delay the game to fix any issues, didn't launch with a proper single player mode, all the signs where there months before launch but they chose to release it anyway, they knew exactly what they did and they wanted to be greedy, they wanted to give up and get their quick buck in $70 base game sales no matter the reception. They already knew before launch this was going to be a failure and they already have plans to shut down the servers most likely.

Seven years on what? I'm not seeing seven years of development time. The game looks like 18 month shovelware. Personally, I'm starting to think these massive AAA studios need to start looking at their development practices. Feels like a great deal of mismanagement and misappropriation of funding. It wasn't that long ago 4ish years of development got you a full game at a fraction of the cost (even accounting for inflation)
I can't understand how this game is 83% on Steam. It stutters badly even on high end PCs. Even if you don't care about the story or the loot and you are ready to play the most basic boring looter shooter it still rans like ass and the UI is a cluster****.

Steam reviews are defintely getting deleted, makes 0 sense for the game to have such negative press and bad gameplay to have such a high % positive when it had such a terrible early week launch, helldivers 2 just came out today that has none of the negative press and way fewer gamepaly complaints has 60% positive reviews. There is no way those numbers are realistic for justice league and many of those positives reviews i saw on steam look like bot reviews on amazon with generic positive quips
I like Bellular, but this videos tell some positive things about the numbers without the appropriate context. The game has positive reviews on steam but because they deleted a ton of negative reviews, and they are the the third biggest game in the PS Store, but that's to be expected because it's the only AAA game in this whole window It's an okay launch, but the context show it's mostly because of the lack of competition. We need to wait and see if they fix the game enough for it to atually be successful, I doubt it.
Can you provide evidence of deleted reviews? I have followed the game on Steam and Steam Db, from day 1, & see no evidence for your claim. Its only Very Positive because (a) its based off a relatively small number of reviews, (b) most of the reviews in week 1 came from people who paid $100 for EA, & so have gaslit themselves into believing the game is good & (c) refunded games don't count in the review score aggregate. Also, (d) nearly half the positive reviews add the caveat that its not worth $70, & people should wait for a sale.

Starfield also started with great Steam reviews, now it's at 62% positive overall, 41% recent reviews positive. Its score crashed just as it had its first sale. Those who play Suicide Squad now are the ones who bought in despite all the trailers being horrible. Quite a substantial amount of them seem to like the game to "spite" journalists and gamers who dislike it. Those on the fence who are more likely to dislike the game won't pay 70 bucks for it.

When a black police chief with a moustache yells and screams at antiheroes, it's good, but when a shaved-head black girlboss does it, it's bad. Not even trying to be combative here. It's proven that people are entertained by item #1 and are NOT entertained by item #2. It's peoples' gut reaction, it's like how they enjoy eating oranges but don't enjoy eating lemons. Sweet Baby's solution is to force people to eat lemons, every time.
I'm actually going to unpack this more to explain why people are entertained by the male black police chief and not by Waller. You see, the strong, moustached black police chief is a VERY masculine figure - a naturally aggressive alpha male. In a chaotic setting, he could rise to the top of the hierarchy. But to become leader of a city's warriors, he's forced to take a bureaucratic job in a police station. Whenever violence occurs, his life becomes much harder, and he could even lose his job. If Sweet Baby wanted to show a subvertion of a sad alpha-male, that's actually the best example. The problem is that audiences feel some empathy for this character, because it's clear that he isn't happy. Waller, meanwhile, yells at her underlings, but they only do what she wants because she has her finger on an illegal red button. She's a weak human who uses sneaky manipulation tactics and blackmail to push around people who are much more capable than she is. If her gender were switched to male, Mr. Waller wouldn't be liked by anybody at all. Sweet Baby want us to be impressed by this character, but Waller really acts like a villain from a Paul Verhoeven movie - a mini corporate tyrant who is impotent and spiteful. Audiences laugh when these characters have moments of discomfort, and they cheer when the characters finally get killed-off.
Being under 6k players as a brand new live service game is rockbottom and abysmal in terms of player numbers for people that are confused and wondering….The dev support for the game will most likely shut down no later than fall 2024 😄
Of course steam has relatively higher review scores: steam will tend towards the opposite of the pre-release discussion. That's the trick to having high reviews: pre-filter the reviewers. Bad press keeps the general population away and you're left with people who really really want to like the game. Ironically bad press can help steam review scores, though it does so by hurting sales figures.
Cuz it's fun? Destiny is designed the same way but it's fun as hell. Some people like the looter shooter hamster wheel, but clearly not the arkham fan base. It seems incredibly difficult to do live service loot grind games well.
@BugsyMcOvaltine but Destiny was a good game in general it had its own original story, and the fighting wasn't overly repetitive this is more like destiny 2 which sucks and is a scam and makes you pay for any little type of content.

I have a question, i looked into a few of the postive reviews and found like 10 from India without any Games in their Library, is that normal? Like they have just Reviews of a fews games, but i cant see the Games they reviewed on their Acc as they own 0 Games.
There is ONE "problem"(quirk) with Steam games reviews... in that games that are "100% honest with what they are" (for example Factorio) will get a much higher score... ...while a game that is fussy with how what the game-play is, and focuses on the hype - will draw in a lot of regret votes from the audience. Nobody that detests logistics games, (e.g Factorio), would think of buying the title; so this indie title sits at 97% happy customers - and after 4 years - an average player count of 13k. Which for an indie title is great... but for a AAA game that took 7 years to make, barely hitting 13k feels - very significant.
You guys thought you were slick on that February roundup video calling all the games "Incredible" and putting Suicide Squad in that list, then editing that out of the title like we wouldn't notice.
Rocksteady died the moment the founding members left ( probably after seeing the writing on the walls being made to make that kind of game) to form an indi studio, so I'm not particularly surprised of what came of a game seemingly made for "modern audience" by devs who have no respect for what made Rocksteady so beloved. Looking forward to what ever Hundred Star Studio produces.
I suspect their will be a news story like with Anthem where the game was actually only in active development for say a couple of years due to poor leadership and perhaps scrapping progress and starting again.

Steam has automatic tools written to combat review bombing which at least some of the time work properly... but also trigger on situations like this because to a computer system the reviews look fake. I think Valve isn't deliberately trying to delete bad reviews for this game, but are willing to allow both the good and bad consequences out of the systems they already have in place.
@@stevenstehling They do try to silence criticism of the system. That said, in cases where a shady company tried to positive review-bomb a new release, I've seen the systems activate to delete all the positive reviews... and the community managers delete threads or posts talking about this happening. Valve absolutely takes a shotgun approach to trying to keep their enormous shop space clean, and they definitely fail at it when you look closely enough for stains, but I haven't seen any good evidence of malice or kickbacks.
@@stevenstehling Oh. we agree there. This is not good behaviour. It's just that the two alternatives to this kind of general policy - leaving user reviews alone or letting all the small communities police themselves - also turn out to produce results that are dishonest and harmful to gamers. Really? Ever heard of a game called Starfield on Steam? I played 167 hours to be fair and give the game a chance and I shredded it in my review and so did many others.
Rocksteady has been "curating" the reviews on Steam. If you dig into the total number of reviews, it's mostly negative since Rocksteady has been committing fraud by hiding the true number of reviews.
16:00 Steam adopted refunds because they were being sued by a government agency over it and had no choice. It had absolutely nothing to do with the Arkham Knight launch. Despite what their Fanboys will claim, they do it because they had to, and wouldn't have otherwise. You keep talking about this research team you need to support, yet you continue to spread nonsense like this, or how Valve has a DRM kill switch, which has never been the case and is based off of one offhanded comment Gabe Newell made in an interview 20 years ago.
What companies need to understand is most of their customers are adults. Even if kids are targeted for some of them, the money still comes from the adults. A lot of us are getting less and less time to play when we get older and we are going to choose what to play at our leisure. Most of the time it would be single player games that will shine the most because they respect your time versus most multiplayer or service games. And recently I'm one of those people who has learned to disconnect from time to time, and do more productive things lately. I know I'm not the only one thinking this. I'm not saying I'm going to stop playing games all together either. I'm going to play the seemingly endless backlog of games I've collected over the years, and pick and choose new ones that are worth my time once in a great while. These companies need to understand they're just entertainment at the end of the day, not an essential vitamin that keeps us alive.
Even if the game is good, I'm not interest in suicide squad or live service. Rocksteady needs to either do a Superman game or maybe a Batman reboot with perhaps two player coop built into the campaign featuring only Batman and Robin as playable characters. Suicide Squad isn't worth even finding out if it's good.
all the steam reviews that are positive have around 10 or less hours and contain no detail of the reviewee's experience ,, I think there's a sub section of players trying to prop it up for no good reason and if you click browse all they seem to mostly be negative and are we sure they are allowing reviews by players who have refunded ,, I can't see any review's saying they refunded the game but there are reviews wishing they could refund
@@EchoDoctrine I didn't think to check the actual accounts,, good catch though ,,, there is just something so off about the score it seemed like it was being inflated
Well, it's possible to filter negative reviews by playtime e.g. 0-2hrs. I've just looked at a page of negative reviews that included at least 7 with "Product refunded". the others were also within the timeframe to allow refunds but they hadn't (yet) refunded. And any more time played than that is outside the refund window anyway.
I have adhd so most games can only hold my attention for a few hours 20 at best. The only exception has been a handful of mmos with a large amount of unique content.
I'm in the middle of the video but I want to ask this before I forget. There are several people in the Steam reviews alleging that they have been removing negative reviews, can you look into this?
He did. As have several other prominent You Tubers. No evidence of deletion has been found. A more believable explanation is that refunded copies don't count in the aggregate score, high levels of copium from positive reviewers & a handful of positive reviews from sketchy sources. When the total number of reviewers are so low, it doesn't take a lot to shift the needle.
is it easier to have a positive score with a smaller sample size. steam charts has this game well below where it should be in terms of people playing it.
the fact that devs CAN delete negative reviews at all on steam is a huge red flag, it completely undermines all of the games that EARN their overwhelmingly positive ratings. Edit: read more into this, people are sharing screenshots of their deleted reviews that don't meet steams 'guidelines'. It seems this all goes back to steam cutting down on 'review bombing'. A shame that steam has gone the way or metacritic or rotten tomatoes, and now their reviews have to be called into question. A far more interesting aspect of this is that steam is a storefront, and by deleting negative reviews, they could be called back to court in the EU and UK for false advertising and misrepresentation.
Live services are the gaming equivalent of slaughtering the golden goose. Corporate isn't happy with just golden eggs anymore. They want it all at any cost. And it'll cost them.
Flipped onto Angry Joe and he looked miserable playing the game. Most streamers i watched were not having fun, almost falling asleep playing. Which is ironic because the other day MORE viewers were watching the “just sleeping” category on Twitch than watching Unalive Squad. Lol.
@ChudDin honestly think ALOT of positive reviews are bots or shenanigans. I saw many “cape fans” that were furious their heroes were disrespected & pissed on. Not sure I qualify as a “cape fan” but I enjoyed comics and lore and was definitely not a fan of this story. But also I’m not a fan of playing Villains in games. Personal choice.
I feel like the reason behind high rating on Steam is a mixture of hyped uped fans who would have bought the game regardless of everything surrounding the title and the power of "sunken cost fallacy" among those who want to justify the purchase and look at any positives. And even despite ~85% positive rating on Steam, most of reviews are something in line of "Game ain't that bad, but ain't worth 70$. Wait for a discount" and add to that the fact that daily player numbers for Suicide Squad aren't even double of Borderlands 2 which came out 12 years ago.
There is at least seven escort missions and you give characters guns that wouldn't use them and giving boomerang a speed Force gauntlet to keep up with the flash....huh waaaaa

I sincerely don't think this is a bad game, but that ending should be illegal everywhere. However, of all games that aren't 70USD games, this is definitely not a 70USD game - as majority of video games, but especially this. If anything, it felt like Sunset Overdrive with DC Universe skin.
Oh it is. The theme, character, monetization, even the gameplay which is ironically the least offending part of the games shit show is bland and boring as fuck.
Well anyway my point was going to be you can get someone to lend you a game via steam that way you don't purchase it and still play it and review but at no point have you retained your own copy, when the game is being lent out the lender can't play it in their library steam wont allow it. In my opinion this is the best way to review games and it's also the best way to try before you buy as you are not bound to the refund time limit so you can be sure you like the game or not simples.
yeah.... and... its literally pathetic. im talking about "get the game cheaper" as if there was no good games coming out right now. helldivers 2 is 10000x better game than this trash

It is a form of cancer that becomes slowly visible.

its almost like live service was hated from the start and it as a genre should die. (no i don't mean mmo's)
MMOs probably too. They're mostly all microtransactions and subscriptions which do not match what you get from them. $15 per month for some small updates and maybe 1-2 major content pieces in a year that can be cleared in a few hours is not worth it.
Bingo.

Can you provide evidence of deleted reviews? I have followed the game on Steam and Steam Db, from day 1, & see no evidence for your claim. For me, it's Waller. Can't stand her.
@@squirrelsyrup1921 Yeah they force-feed people lemons instead of making them lemonade. Jokes aside, Waller would still be insufferable even as a man.
Less than 100,000 copies is the number I am hearing. They need to sell at least 3 million copies just to make a modest profit.

Steam has automatic tools written to combat review bombing which at least some of the time work properly... but also trigger on situations like this because to a computer system the reviews look fake.
What about steam achievements statistics? Maybe they can tell us how far players have actually come.
This game has quiet a few people defending it. But in my opinion they are only doing so to spite others, they thrive off discourse.
Even if the game is good, I'm not interest in suicide squad or live service.

If this is some unknown IP not from a AAA studio then sure those number is ok, but we are talking about a big release so no the number is abysmal.
I can't recall ever playing a super hero game
That doesnt even mean you've never played any, it just means they are so boring you cant REMEMBER playing them lol
Thank you, man. Keep us informed of all your endeavors.
Live services are the gaming equivalent of slaughtering the golden goose.
Corporate isn't happy with just golden eggs anymore. They want it all at any cost. And it'll cost them.
Haven't seen a streamer play this over 3 days.
One guy I know who did stream it twice immediately streamed Arkham Asylum afterward for recovery.
@ChudDin how many times your gonna copy and paste this same tired as comment
I feel like the reason behind high rating on Steam is a mixture of hyped uped fans who would have bought the game regardless of everything surrounding the title and the power of "sunken cost fallacy" among those who want to justify the purchase and look at any positives.
And even despite ~85% positive rating on Steam, most of reviews are something in line of "Game ain't that bad, but ain't worth 70$. Wait for a discount" and add to that the fact that daily player numbers for Suicide Squad aren't even double of Borderlands 2 which came out 12 years ago.
13k peak and less then 4k players daily. Only unexpected thing is that you are reporting it as any sort of success.
There is at least seven escort missions and you give characters guns that wouldn't use them and giving boomerang a speed Force gauntlet to keep up with the flash....huh waaaaa
Rocksteady was already dead, it just Sweet Baby was wearing it skin
Can't wait for Suicide Squad to win "Most innovative gameplay" award during this years Steam Awards.
“No one expected this”?, everyone who even remotely paid attention knew it was a disaster in the making, the release just confirms it
yep. first big presentation had 20/80 ratio. next trailers had like 50/50 bcuz they showed poison ivy retcon . YES THEY SPOILED ONE OF THE MAJOR RETCONS THEMSELVES xlmaoaoaxzdfzxxxxd
Suicide Squad will always have one problem: That ridiculous stupid Joker from the first movie. Absolutely not interested in that shit no matter what else they come up with.
Looks more like Saints Row / [Prototype] - Why are all these characters flying?
Will the upcoming seasons include missions related to the main story ? Or will it judt be extra playable characters?
So many of those positive reviews are all saying a similar thing.....get the game when cheaper
yeah.... and... its literally pathetic. im talking about "get the game cheaper" as if there was no good games coming out right now. helldivers 2 is 10000x better game than this trash
I won't pay $70 just to put a negative review on steam, refunding the game removes the review.
Wow really? So you mean it's not being as well received and as decent as you mentioned in your February Games Releases video?
It's a game most people didn't want therefore it will die quickly.
Besides the horrible launch/game, can we all just agree that this franchise sucks and no one cares about SS?
The youtube videos from NijTek that compare suicide squad to the rocksteady batman games from years ago, are eye opening and show how suicide squad is a step backward across the board.
Ahh very interesting, is that the same game you recommended in the previous video and were trying to sugarcoat with "not as bad as we expected" ??
For a live service, i dont even know where they can go. Like whats after killing the justice league? kill the teen titans? not quite as spectacular, seems like they blew their load on the concept of killing super heroes way too early for this to have any staying power, even if it was good.
Im tired of being able to tell who the devs voted for playing their "game"
