    Hi, I am Persian and we do use borage tea for different uses, such as a stress reliever tea, we also brew it with lemon or dry lemon with honey/sugar or rock candy (crystalized sugar) or add these to our tea at the time of drinking it. Another reason to drink this tea is when we are overly tired or hyper and want to have a good sleep, then we take it after our dinner. it has a nice enjoyable flavor, thank you for sharing your info.

    Lol! My process is a little more cumbersome her in Australia. I need to soak the herbs for 10 min so all the jumping spiders can escape, then change the water a few times as I rinse the slug and snail trails off. Pat dry with paper towel before I dare dehydrate. 😝

    I have been drying my borage flowers, to use later I’m wondering if you have dried them for tea or should it be only used fresh? And can I dehydrate the leaves for tea too? Thanks

    • @markb8954
      @markb8954 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes, you can pick your leaves & flowers and dehydrate them. Store in dark & keep dry. Rehydrate like you would tea leaves.

    I heard borage was a good plane for the garden so I planted a couple of seedlings in June. Now it's September and wanted to know if it was good for anything besides pollinating and a search turned up your video. I have a question about the flowers, though. I have a ton of closed flowers but noticed they only seen to open one at a time on an entire branch. It's going to take a really long time to collect enough flowers to be useful. Is that normal? It seems like the whole branch should pretty much open at one time. 🤔

    I’m noticing something else has eaten some of my borage nearly to the ground and it’s too early for a grasshopper but I can’t find the culprit! I’m sure he’s a big, fat, happy caterpillar of some sort! Lol

    My borage opened its first flower today. Really tempted on eating it. But looking online it says the plant contains pyrrolizidine alkaloids that are toxic. It discourages me from trying it. 🙃 whats your opinion on it?

    • @effff327
      @effff327 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If you have severe liver problems or jaundice or are breastfeeding/pregnant then no… but it’s the same as saying don’t eat cherries because there’s cyanide in the seeds. It’ll take about 300 plus PITS not even the actual fruit to actually kill your so it’s up to you. You’d have to see how much of it would actually poison you but the amount that any recipe calls for is extremely low to that.

    • @FarmhouseTeas
      @FarmhouseTeas  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@effff327 I like this answer, know your plants for sure and always make sure you read up on any contraindications and risks. I'd get a good herb book though instead of googling.

      Borage has been used around the world for food and medicine for several thousand years... The crowd that likes to isolate single molecules in a sterile lab and then start screaming the sky is falling is just being their usual hyperbolic selves. There are far, far worse things in the cereal you had for breakfast or that sandwich you had for lunch or practically anything that came out of your supermarket.
