    Hi Bruce, thats good timepeace with ugly-done bracelet and enormous price. I've compared it with my speedy sapphire - GS is bulky, heavy and 3x price, despite of attempt jumping to Daytona style/alternative segment. Very niche product which I dont like. BTW Tenta cost 11-13k in chrono24, but 15-16 in Asian market, which blow GS as the an other luxury timepieces. Many thanks for review, Anton from Russia with love.

    I really do like this GS but why didn’t you mention the obvious comparison with Zenith? Their high beat chronographs are a little cheaper, have all the history, and measure tenths of a second. GS wins on dial, case finishing, and beauty but I do like the Zenith tricolor sub-dials.

    Great review Bruce. You mentioned it a few times, and I completely agree, GS has to improve their bracelets and include on the fly micro-adjustments. Their watches are incredible but their bracelets keep me from buying another one.

    The movement on the tentagraph is very impressive. I know people will say it’s modular, but the base movement on which the chrono module sits is the 9SA5, which to me rivals “high horology” movements. My sense and hope is that this is iterative for GS. We’ll see integrated chronos down the line and in more wearable case sizes. I think the bracelet issue is largely overblown with GS. They’re not as a bad or cheap as people make them out to be and this is less so the case with the evolution 9 line. I do think tapering would go a long way though.

    I love GS as a brand and what they bring to the table. Their design language is not a swiss clone and is uniquely Japanese. However, just in my opinion, a couple of things have me scratching my head.
    1. Their pricing lately. One of the things I've loved about GS is that while not cheap, for $3 to $6k, one could get a timepiece at mid tier price that had finishing rivaling watched at higher price points. They were the brand thumbing their noises at brands charging thousands more while saying, "Look at what we can do for less." Now more and more their offerings, with the new movements, with the new dials, with the new design language is getting closer and closer to those other brands. I never thought I would see a GS at 13k plus. Why pick this up when I could get icons like an El Primaro, one of the various Speedy offerings, or a Navi for thousands less? I could even pick up the Glashutte SeaQ chrono with the big date. That has a great bracelet and great microadjust clasp. Speaking of which....
    2. Their bracelets and clasp are still lagging behind. It's been years now, with consumer's complaining about their claps and bracelets, and they’re still behind. At this poin, it's becoming comical. How can micrbrands like Monta and Formex make wonderful bracelets and clasps, but a brand like GS can not? I just don’t understand. Again, it's comical how a watch that is $13K can have a bracelet that is "close" and a clasp, still with no microadjust. Seems like hubris to me, and they are resting on their laurels. You designed the Tentagraph, I know you can design a good and functional microadjustment.
    Come on "Grand" Seiko.

    • @maximoplf
      @maximoplf ปีที่แล้ว

      I find that narrative of "GS bracelets lag" very beat up. The new ones have a great bracelet - SLGH005 is heavier/more solid than a Submariner. I have both and I know what I'm talking about. It seems reviewers are paid to say good things about the watch and choose the bracelet its the least offensive thing to say.
      The problem with this watch is how thick it is. GS was in the right direction after in shrunk the size of their cases with the new movement, but this is a step back. A chronograph should not be 15mm thick - an El Primero, which is also high beat and has a considerable power reserve (60 hours), is only 12,5mm...

    • @Ae073001
      @Ae073001 ปีที่แล้ว

      @maximoplf I'm glad their bracelets are getting better. From what I've seen, the clasps are still a concern. Still no microadjust I'm assuming?

    My biggest issue with this watch. Is that despite the price tag. They made the face look cheap. The caseback is stunning but it lacks refinement in appearance which it should most certainly have for the price.

    • @8921434113
      @8921434113 ปีที่แล้ว

      how does the face look cheap? lack of contrast between light and dark colors? subdial colors too similar to dial color? Cause apart from maybe the lack of precious metals which no chrono sitting at 14k has precious metals or has the big contrasting colors you see on the daytonas and zeniths, i dont think there's another chrono in the price range apart from omega's offerings of dark side of the moon.
      Your issue with the watch is not the face looks cheap. Its the fact that you don't think the watch's dial+movement is good enough to carry a 14k price tag, which is a price issue.

    I feel sorry that, for a completely new design from a brand that is supposedly not wedded to Swiss design cues, GS elected to have the utterly useless Tachymeter bezel on this. This isn’t on the face of it a motorsport-inspired design, so who cares about timing the speed of things over a set distance?
