Nice job with my short piece, Alex. Some very interesting orchestration choices. I'll pull it into Cubase where I can study it and break it down. My original orchestration was much simpler, and I wanted to see how someone more knowledgeable than me might approach this. Hopefully more patrons will send you melodies to work with.
I just want to congratulate whoever wrote the base melody and harmony for this; the 2nd line is especially really well written. Edit: I don't know if this is helpful to anyone, but I think a Bm chord in bar 5 would be much more fitting - the unexpected (but brilliant!) F# chord in bar 4 really sets it up to modulate temporarily to B minor (the relative minor key), so I think swapping that chord there would work really well! And something similar could be said for bar 13, which also would lead nicely into the modulation you've already written into C# minor.
These "Orchestrating a Melody" videos are incredibly helpful to novice orchestrators. On other channels, I rarely see such a detailed description of how & why orchestration decisions are made. I hope the "Orchestrating a Melody" series becomes a regular part of your superb channel.
I'm still having difficulties orchestrating a 32 bar composition - if you're up for it, I can send the music for you to take a look. Curious how you'd approach it. Simple great melody. Video game town theme-esque!

Great job Alex... What libraries have you use for this orchestration? Kind regards and blessings, Max
Thanks, Max. Berlin Muted Strings, Berlin Winds, and horns from Berlin Brass
@@AlexHeppelmann Thanks Alex for the kind reply... Those Berlin instruments sound very nice, I particularly liked the woods.
What software do you for musical notation?
