Yeah, I think the motor mount screws came loose cause you can see the damage to the slots in the chassis. I didn’t hear the motor go out from where I was standing, but everyone else heard it very clearly.
What’s up brotha 👋🏼 New subscriber here, just wanted to mention I got my first basher from traxxas “The Sledge 💪🏼”. Your videos have been a big help sir. I am about to upgrade my motor mount to a one piece motor mount and watching your video while doing my upgrades have help immensely thank you!🙏🏼 💯👊🏼
great Video, Bandit ... have bought the same M2C forward facing motor mount for my Sledge ... good to know, such usefull upgrades ... pls more of them ... have a nice day ... Greetz from Germany ... Kay
When you install the part with the spur gear and 2 brgs I suspect the bearing OD is a clearance fit wrt the bearing housing including the two shims and when meshing the gears it biases the bearings to one side of the brg housing bore otherwise the bearing OD will end up rotating to some degree with the drive shaft. The bearing IDs look like they are press fitted onto the input output shafts of the differential part with the spur gear. This part of the design is central to how it wears over time and the bearing preload both radial and axial with is critical to its performance. Just chiming in bc I am thinking about getting this RC and most certainly will need this motor mount mod.
I’ll give you a Sub. I actually won a Sledge a year or two ago and I grew up with my friend always having badass RC cars and I’m a car guy anyway. So I want to take car of this thing and not destroy it. Good info! And yes I hate seeing my wing get scraped up too 😆
I did see those, and might grab them. Debating on getting the M2C 1492 drive cups. They are captured so the dog bone doesn’t come out. Check them out let me know what you think.
@redbanditracing I did see them. They would be better in the front and rear differentials but the center is fixed so not sure if it would be that much better in the center diff
@@bobrobinson360 M2C doesn’t make them for the center yet, they emailed me back. I will be grabbing the TRX for the center diff. Bashed the Sledge pretty good recently and the motor mount did great. Sledge is a lot quieter also.
I didn't even waste my time on any traxxas products for my sledge I'm full of m2c and vitavon then got to heavy so I changed to max 6 hobbywing with the 4985 motor. And it's a beast now
Man I may need to get one of those for my sledge so far no problems but do you know since I put a little bit wider wheels on mine Will it destroy the spur
I’m ordering the M2C motor mount for my sledge. Thank you for the amazing video!!! Someone told me to get the reverse facing in case I upgrade the motor. What do you think? I am a noob and can follow your video. I’m worried if I get reverse mount, the install won’t be the same lol
Really just depends on your plans for the Sledge. I don’t plan on upgrading the motor, more power isn’t going to solve the issues it has it makes them worse haha. Glad you like the videos, more bashing once the weather clears up.
@@redbanditracing honestly, I regret buying the sledge. I have the dry ultimate and have zero issues. I bought the sledge thinking it would be a nice addition. I would have much preferred even buying the regular xrt and would have saved money since I’m going to have to dump $$$ into this stupid sledge
That shaft would have bent, not broken like that. My guess is there was a microbubble in the material. It was good of Traxxas to replace the motor as defective, because it was. I have abused my Traxxas E- Revo 2.0 and everything but the motor has been broken. My idea is that I got my Traxxas cars to enjoy, not be shelf queens. No Traxxas cars are not perfect, but they are fun!
I agree, it was definitely faulty and Traxxas agreed. I’ve seen those shafts bend but not break off. Once this rain stops, we’re gonna send this sledge pretty hard and test that motor mount system.
Called Traxxas and sent in my motor with receipt. As for your spur gears make sure the chassis isn’t bent, and mesh is correct. Best thing you could do for that truck is the M2C motor mount.
@@redbanditracing yeah after watching your video I’ll definitely be getting that kit , as far as the motor i think I’m SOL don’t have my receipt . Thanks !
Great video but I wish I had your luck. I’ve received nothing back on my order except I was charged. For days now I’ve tried contacting them on my ordered parts and no responses. Tried their customer service on their site, emails, and called repeatedly with no answer.
@ yeah, unfortunately every time I call it just rings and rings. Then goes to a full voicemail box says can’t leave a message and hangs up on me. Just disappointing
You can buy a good motor for that Traxxas motor price. I get warranty but anyone paying out of pocket for that is just wild. I like the Sledge but I'll just buy my 6s Arrma rigs from Arrma. Same as i don't want a 8s plastic Arrma
Yeah they even released a "new" version for more money and still same old pos chassis , shock towers and hinge pin mounts. Its bullshit. So i got the 4mm thick gpm chassis
Nice parts list. That’s awesome on Traxxas . That new motor mount is clutch. It’s strange the gear mesh sounded loud in that video clip when it broke

I love m2c, and I'm pretty sure that u could have got a m2c chassis for the sledge. And u would be running into these issues. Great step by step.
I will eventually get the chassis, but I typically upgrade as I go. Some things don’t need to upgraded. M2C makes some great parts.
I love those wheels 🙌🏾🙌🏾😍
Love the vids keep it up! My favorite is still rustler 4x4 and bandit.

Just bought a sledge and im not running it until i get my m2c chassis and motor mount probably will do the jack hammer build!
It’s been over 18mo now, M2C motor is all I needed. Even with a bent chassis is doesn’t effect the gearing, or the performance. Great basher!

No it should be fine with the wider wheels, I also put hub extenders on to fit the Arrma Dboots. It’s a great upgrade for the Sledge.
@@redbanditracing I'm eyeballing the M2C extended hexs
I went with Hot Racing, cheaper, and just as good. I love M2C but they are very over priced. Part #HRAERVT10W (Amain Hobbies)
What brand of cordless driver you using? Great videos.
Ryobi, $20-$40 depending on type. They work great from RC stuff. Thank you for watching
