SCP-1060 is a human female with a strange and terrifying anomalous effect. At night, SCP 1060 undergoes a very extreme transformation. Her head will literally detach from her neck with a sudden jerking motion, leaving guts and intestines hanging down, and the head will levitate, floating around the room it is in. The real danger comes from the fact that at night, SCP1060, needs to feed.

This is one of those cases where I agree with the GOC, too many innocent lives have been lost because of her “condition”. Her claim of ignorance about her anomalous ability is actually pretty suspicious too. After all, her preferred victims are unborn children and she was pursuing a career that would put her in direct contact with a lot of them. That’s one hell of coincidence, and makes me question just how “innocent” she actually is.

@@AbdullahAbdullah-vr8ch It does not need handling from the GOC, as they would go straight to termination, rather, to the foundation, that researches it and then terminates it.
Suprisingly, penanggalan or kuyang was in fact, terminable. That means you can actually kill this women by various methods.
The main issue is that since the laws of the scp universe dont seem to strictly follow our own, there is a definite possibility that terminating or attempting to terminate the scp could result in things far worse occurring. Additionally, it is reasonably simple to contain, and the person in question can not be proven to be guilty of knowingly being a hostile scp after going to sleep. It could be very possible that the career was a coincidence, or that its a subconscious fascination that results from the condition, without actually making the woman consciously aware of it. The one situation I would agree with termination on is in the case of a breach of containment, to stop an attempted murder by the scp, but as shown through other entries the scp foundation cares little for individual human life compared with much greater possible annihilation of many lives, or a breach of security. It is entirely possible that if you were to kill this particular person, then the curse can or will be passed on, which can cause more loss of life or a breach of secrecy. Ultimately it is not worth giving into the gut instinct of dispatching something like this in the context of the scp universe.

In the Philippines we call it the Manananggal, though I did hear from my Singapore friends they also have the same mythical creature. 😄 Basically same thing as this SCP but instead of a head decapitating itself, the demon splits its torso apart and hunt the streets at night preying mostly on people wandering in the streets.

As a Malaysian, listening to this scp story is really surprising since penanggalan is practically a traditional urban legend around here. Very scary to think about while sleeping alone when you were young but as an adult, it is very interesting.

I think they are kind of creatures, both in Thailand, Malaysia and Indonesia. And in Indonesia itself has a different name in each region. For example, in Sumatra Region the name of this creature is "Palasik", in Kalimantan the name is "Kuyang" and in Sulawesi the name is "Pok Pok Ghost". But the name "Kuyang" is most commonly called.
but these creatures are not spread all over Indonesia. They are only in Sumatra, Kalimantan and Sulawesi. Some say that this creature also exists in Bali, but I'm not sure

As an Asian, I'm wondering why they haven't tried salt yet. Salt is pretty much the panacea for most Asian monsters.
Firstly because their job is to contain and study, not kill anomalies. There is another rival group that wants to destroy them called the Global Occult Coalition, but it goes against the SCPs agenda. The second is they probably dont want to kill the girl if possible. Though the SCP foundation is mostly apathetic to deaths, that doesnt mean its apathetic to life, and tries to avoid deaths when possible.

As an Indonesian citizen who is close to the state of Malaysia, this creature has a different name in the local culture of Bali and Borneo Island. Balinese local culture calls this creature by the name "Leak" and on the island of Borneo, this creature is known by the name "Kuyang"

I've read quite a lot about it, and most of the time, the pregnant woman would always have a pair of scissors under her pillow before going to sleep. Either that, or mengkuang (a kind of plant) thorns would be lain on the floor. Because while the penanggalan is aggressive and dangerous, it's intestines are vulnerable like any other human organs, so the scissors and thorns will injure it and prevent it from hurting anyone and it will most likely leave and not come back for awhile.

I was curious why she attacked the guy who came into her room even though she wasn't hostile for the researchers, but I think that might be because the researchers were consistently feeding her. I hypothesize her nighttime form will attack any human it can find if it's hungry enough, but is not generally hostile to non-pregnant humans otherwise.
I find it strange that the daytime form seems unaware yet preparations need to be made to reattach via the rice wine vinegar bath. So, they do not know and do not put food out yet there is always a tub full of a odd substance?

Why is there a pregnant lady in the SCP FOUNDATION, a place where scientists contain horrific or sadistic, questionable, frightening anomalies.
Some anomalies can only be contained by pregnant women, or only let pregnant women live when encountering them.

If I remember right, the SCP has her because she's pregnant with one of the Scarlet King's children. With the exception of a slimy boy, who's designation I can't remember, the other children turned into dangerous anomalies/monsters.

Plant rosebushes or other brambles outside your windows. In the legends, the penanggalan can't discern them from other shrubs, and when she drifts over them, her dangling guts get tangled up in the thorns, keeping it stuck till sunrise eliminates it.

In the Philippines, we have something similar. We call them "Manananggal".
Instead of just the head, the entire upper torso detaches from the legs, and, in most depictions, they fly with bat-like wings.
Much like this SCP, they usually show up during pregnancies in remote areas, which is why a lot of people used to hang garlic braids on their windows and doors. Some of them still do, actually.
Legend has it that you can get rid of the manananggal by burning the stump of the lower body, if you manage to find it.

Yea, Southeast Asian Folklores are just scary, in my country they say, you MUST NOT run from the ghost in the forest, you have to insult it and Cry to make it leave, and keep swearing at it, its kinda scary most of the time, I experienced it once in the forest but i pretend I didnt see anything, when i looked back it was gone, it gave me shivers

Im a filipino and we have a simiar legend call "Manananggal". Instead of its organs and head, it detaches its whole upper body. It is said that during the day she is a beautiful village woman but in the night she detaches her upper body from her lower body and grows bat wings and flies around in her village, finding pregnant woman and eating the fetus from the belly button. The only way to kill the Manananggal is to find its lower body and kill it with garlic(if im wrong corect me felloe filipinos). The only problem is, it is hard to find her lower body. It is somewhere deep in the forest.

This reminds me of the Mananangal in the Philippines but the only difference from it is the Mananangal detaches the half top of it's body.
