And I never saw anything about "Sony not knowing" about Yotei, I saw they were surprised about the negative reaction to the game from a chunk of the audience. That's it.. Obviously they knew about it.

Yeah, for sure. Destin is awesome.
Ubisoft's biggest customer is the Canadian, Quebecois and Singapore governments. They make more money from these governments than they do from customers.
I like the rambling! Nothing wrong with just talking and giving honest opinions, i think people really want that now days.
Let's see:
1.Milking AC franchise
2. Making more formulaic open worlds like The Division and Watch Dogs
3. Slapping the formulaic open world onto existing franchises like Ghost Recon and overall ruining Tom Clancy line of games
4. Fumbling development of Beyond Good & Evil breaking Duke Nukem's record for longest postponed game (I really wanted this one😢)
5. Injecting worst kind of MTXs and likely designing content in such a way to entice player to purchase them
6. Executives making statements like "get used to not owning your games" and Ubisoft developers criticizing Elden Ring design and patronizing players who enjoyed it, showing just how badly out-of-touch studio is with customers
7. Making a subpar smuggler-themed Star Wars game, complete with tired Ubisoft openworld formula, that appears to be a Disneyfied version of what people were ACTUALLY interested in - Star Wars 1313 (remember that one?) - and right on the heels of a failed Star Wars TV show
8. Develop yet another AC finally set in Japan which fans had wanted since AC2 except it is doing so in a world where Ghost of Tsushima, Nioh, and Rise of the Ronin now exist
9. Have latest AC star a controversial historical figure whose inclusion is solely to get social brownie points for being "diverse" and predictably fumbling the whole thing since their understanding of diversity is likely shallow and disingenuous
10. Release trailer filled with subpar performance, signs of same ol' formula, and end up postponing release date of AC back only to have Ghost of Yotei announced
11. Predictably try to blame their failures on gamers for being racist, misogynistic, sexist, etc.
12. Announce remake of a game no one asked for; AC Black Flag.
Anything else? Yeah I have a chip on my shoulder. Fuck Ubisoft.

Destin at this point is a lolcow. I dont come for his opinions, I come to laugh. He used to talk about integrity and truth as a journalist years ago. At IGN, before gamergate. They all did. I just hope the crater eating him up inside a decade later is the size of the Sea of Tranquility.

What everyone is talking about today in terms of Ubisoft news: Some Ubi dev went on social media to attack gamers, then wonders why the company isnt doing well. What Destin is talking about in his Ubisoft video... not that.
Like others are saying, dancing around the elephant in the room wont make things better Destin ;)
AC Mirage is a different studio than Shadows and Outlaws. How much autonomy do each studio have? Is corporate really to blame?
lol I still need to understand this @Destin you didn't even play Ghost, one of the biggest games in years, but then they release a sequel and NOW you wanna play it soo badly you read about it?? Why would you not be excited about the first one????
And nobody, or most people don't care about female characters. The female characters of Ghost 1 were great, the problem is to me and some at least, is they made a GREAT character, and then instead of trying to continue on the legacy of that character, through the history that was set up to happen in 7 years, they replaced him. And nobody will convince me it wasn't a "we need female characters" as to why he was shelved.
Havent you (for a lack of a better word) wrote yourself into a corner tho? You decided to die in a hill that its basically impossible to prove. And even if somebody could prove it to you, youve already decided that no one can.
Playing it thru now on PC, and honestly GoT is pretty repetitive, and Jin is good character, but not great. Most of the side characters are pretty 2D, and all the quests are either fetch quests or 'go-here-kill-this'. And as pretty as it is, the world is lifeless.
Ubisoft, for all their faults, do genuinely make pretty compelling protagonists, even if there are other areas where their game falls flat.
GoT's criticism aside, man that gameplay loop feels good though, huh? That is Sucker Punche's lightning in a bottle. The combat is outstanding, even if still a bit wonky in some areas. As much as I like the idea of different stances, I hate playing top trumps with stances and enemies.
We gotta be able to voice this stuff. Problem is, all of the above is valid criticism. None of it is personally targeted at individuals or minorities. Ghost of Yōtei however... ... ...

@@ThePizzaMan_ Jin and the whole game feel is better than 90% of games.. And swapping a main character is VALID criticism. Before these people decided to shove their agenda and say "Men are bad" they would always keep a well built character for at LEAST a sequel or two. Now they kill them like with Joel, or replace them AND make them look stupid like with Peter in Spiderman 2. At least with Uncharted they ran 4 games, but if they come back with his daughter that will suck the excitement right out of it for me, but you KNOW Naughty dog would do that nowadays.
You can't tell me that Ghost 2 with Jin in an EVEN bigger Mongul Invasion 7 years later would not sell better than Ghost of Yotei. It will sell based off the strength of the first game, but no way it sells as much or as much as it could if they improved on Tsushima and perfected it with a great Jin story. And if you know that, and that I bet 80% of Ghost players were Male, and at least a large chunk of them prefer to play as a Male, why would you ever swap it outside of agenda? Unless it's been 2-3 games and the sales started to dip.
@@addidaswguy I'm not sure what you're saying. I think you're saying it's all an agenda, and saying it'd be better with Jin because he's a good character. But how would you know the GoY character is not a good character?

They don't agree with your comment that the PS5 Pro is expensive because they want to justify their purchase of a plastic box which they know is overpriced and they chose to ignore it because they are mindless fanboys.
The game story was meh the only thing that made it feel like star wars were the sections with imperials. Gameplay was not fun but I played until I finished the story.
Everyone is talking about Ubisoft but for the wrong reasons. Bad publicity is bad publicity and it will only destroy the company further than Ubisoft has already destroyed themselves.

They should lower their budgets and do more smaller projects like Mirage, although there are some things like combat that were a bit of a disappointment, overall, I loved it, and I'm even planning to buy it again on Playstation since I beat it 100% some months ago on xbox (I got rid of the xbox).
I think having lower budgets is a double edged sword and something they have failed at recently. It’s a really a vicious cycle. The cost for development is extremely high. You could argue some cost is because of leadership mismanagement and wasting resources. Because of the cost they need to sell a lot to recoup costs. Their lower budget games like mirage or the new prince of Persia did not sell the greatest. It’s hard to justify making lower budget games when they are not making money on them. Regardless I think the main issue is they could make more on low and high budget games if they are quality. This seems to be the issue. Quality will make them make more money. Them and other studios are making games that no one is asking for. This sounds shitty but I hope more studios release garbage games, lose tons of money, and have to shut dow. Only when they are panicking about destroying their companies will they and other studios finally listen to their fans and quit their bs. It’s not rocket science. It’s crazy to think a 20 year old pizza delivery guy would know more about what people want in games compared to a room of millionaire executives
*they should cut half their staff and focus solely on Rainbow Six, Far Cry, The Division and an AC finale....but they've been lost in bad decisions for 4 years now, I don't see them suddenly getting it right* 🕵

Calling something woke is such a cop out though. The quality of a video game has nothing to do with the color or sex of a character. It’s only a good game if it has great gameplay, well written stories and characters

Hey Destin. Regarding Ghost of Yotei and gaming hate in general if you notice a lot of these people b*tching and complaining can barely form a completely coherent sentence! Many of these people are radical mindless zombies at this point, just parroting after another! They are like the Flood in Halo, annoying bug like prickly creatures that are only around to destroy whatever enters their path! Even if you give them something good they will undoubtedly eat it up, crap it out and throw it in your face! There is no way to satisfy such slippery, slimy, dust dwelling creatures! They are vipers and venomous serpents! They just want to bite and drag everyone down into their lifeless pit!!! Seriously we all should be on guard about such destroyers!!

I am Woke! MLK and Civil Rights Movement woke up America about Jim Crow Apartheid segregation laws in the South. Police brutality, housing discrimination, redlining by Banks, voter suppression, unfair prison sentencing, environmental discrimination, lower quality of food supply in poor neighborhoods, and toxic drinking water are all issue that Woke people have woke up America about. Woke represents equal rights and equal justice for all without favoritism. Woke person believe in righteousness. Woke have nothing to do with character placement or inclusion in video games or Hollywood movies. None of those business are violating people's rights or doing unfair business practices racially. Woke have nothing to do with trans people or minorities in video games. I'm not interested in seeing a black Batman or black Superman. I want black superhero characters in their black empowered universe and not just a token character representative in a white laden world. Busineses do it in an effort to draw in more customers so they can make more money. Forced character representation is not the right way for these studios to do this. Token inclusivities are a unnecessary bad choices.
