Cracking video Brandon, good honest work there. Good to see a youngster pick up a fork! Mucked out hundreds of calf pens over the years, farm I grew up on had some big sheds done by tractor and grab, and a load of smallish ones done by hand. Used to fill the bucket on the loader, then when I turned 15 or 16 dad decided to cut out the middleman and get me forking it straight into the muck spreader, my usual saturday or school holiday job. Fill the spreader up a few times and I knew I'd done a day's work, huge sweat on and hands all blistered as well, satisfying job though!

Thank John. A lot of the sheds here are quite old and are not designed for modern day machinery so i end up doing quite a bit of forking! That sounds like hard work forking into the muck spreader, and yes i can imagine your hands would be blistered by the end of the day! It's always satisfying getting the muck cleared out. 👍

Yeah that's the trouble, sheds aren't designed for modern kit, would reckon doors to some calf pens at home aren't more than 3ft wide, so not much else to do. Forking straight into the spreader was hardship first few times, but after that it it's not a big deal, soon got used to it and you don't have to keep stopping to empty the bucket. It's solid work, but rather be doing that than doing nothing!

As always a great days work put in, love the trailer idea,so much better than using those bags all the time. And yes agree with the others a skid steer would be a good idea, that Manitou is far to big for that small shed. Thank you again for sharing another day with us

Yes, filling the trailer is saving a lot of time. It is quite big for that shed, although when we do a full clear out we can take out some of the barriers, which makes more space for using the Manitou. Thanks 👍

Great video. The Four Musketeers doing the walk of shame! lol. Wow that was a lot of muck and it was a tight fit with the Manitou, other side must be even trickier to get at, lots of forking for Brandon. You could do with one of those, Skid Steers type things like FarmerP has got.

Thanks. Yes, lots of forking for me! The skid steers looks good. We occasionally hire a skid steer at the other farm.

What about bobcat instead manitou? I love your videos. Kepp going on!

A lot of people have suggested that a bobcat would be better. I just work on the farms so it's not up to me on what equipment they get. The good thing about the Manitou is the lift capacity, so we would probably need to get a Bobcat in addition to the manitou. Thanks 👍

Thanks. Yes, the farm could do with getting a skid steer for doing the smaller sections, and other smaller jobs.

Why are the cow's standing in so deep of muck? Seems unhealthy for them. I'm assuming that they sleep there too, right?

Hi, This is what it looks like when we are mucking them out. They get one bale of fresh straw a day. Usually the front of the shed where they are eating and standing the most gets mucky. The rest of the shed is where they would sleep in the dry straw. You will see in my other videos what it's like when we put fresh straw down each evening. Thanks

Did u open the caws overnight or did u leave it at it is?

Yes, it was opened up over night. They only go in that part while we are clearing out the other side of the shed.
