I FIGURED OUT! Amazfit T-Rex 2 When you go to an outdoor activity, say, hiking, First there is a red screen with GPS written on the left, a hiker pic on the center and a heart on the right, if you press the GPS it takes a measure and after a while when the measurement is taken all turns green. Then, there is a white text on the bottom of the screen that says "Setings", a new screen opens up with a list: “Assistant” and the second one is "Navigation", another screen opens with the Titles: My Routes, which will list the rotes you have saved, and the next is “MY LOCATION” where you can see the latitude and longitud of where you are ! That is the location we saved on the first red screen, is there and you can acumulate a list of them; but I am yet to figure out how to send it - find it in Zepp to pass it to some other app. What I did was to take a phone picture of the watch screen to not loose it and have it easily available to inform my map location. I am retired, but I have been a mountaineering intructor and seach and rescue rescue type in North, Central and South America, and I have degrees in Geography and Geographic information Systems, Basically, spent all my life in the field dealing with practical issues. I can tell you that the T-Rex GPS accuracy is fantastic. I am currently in the middle of nowhere in high mountains of Peru and my first reading located the neares city 110 miles away instead of where I am so I was very dissapointed. The reason was that I am next to a steep tall mountain right behind me. Once I moved a bit wawy from it I got my first correct and highly accurate reading; within a meter of the entrance of my property, that shows up in 3D in Google Earth so there is no mistake - the next day I went for a hike on the edge of the mountain and took another correct reading in spite of been somehow under the topographic shade of the mountain. It seems the software learned the satelllite location path. Thus, Im done with the GPS figuring out, because now with the very acurate “My location” reading - and a topo map - I can navigate anywhere for months without charging the battery. I can turn the watch on and off just to find my location :-)
WOW! That was an amazing comment, thank you for taking the time to write all of those lovely details about the T-Rex. I am hoping to go for a hike soon and test some of the navigation on the Amazfit Falcon. Very cool that you were able to match up the path with Google and that you are involved with Search & Rescue. I will see what other statistics I can gather and share them in the future video. Thank you again, Adolfo!
Thesec 2 watches are surely aimed at different users. I have the F7x. It's awesome. Mapping is incredible, particularly if you and Talky Toaster maps. I would never consider the other watch as it just seems like a track recording, not a map.
Yes, there is the Ocean Blue (Special Edition) of the T-Rex 2 for sale at only $200.00 USD and mine updated to ZEPP OS 2.1 and the watch has been wonderful!
As a young person I am very much inclined towards T Rex, I think it looks pretty cool and since I have a fully functioning smartphone in my pocket I wouldn't be really using other features much
Yeah, Suunto makes some premium watches - that much is for sure! There is also Polar wearables, but I feel Garmin still has the best maps for the wrist.
@@PeterHerget I really wanted to get Garmin Fenix 6x Solar because I saw someone wearing it in a tv show and it looked really cool, all black and superb 😂 so yes they make amazing
I would agree with that statement. The HR and GPS are good enough for an average running. Sometimes the HR (heart rate) does take a bit to catch up, but many wrist-based HR sensors have that trouble. Thanks for clicking on by...
And then they relased the Garmin EPIX 2.0 wearable with even a more gorgeous screen than the Amazfit Falcon. However, Garmin forgot one import features that Amazfit did not and it is simply called, "Brightness Indicator." A small piece of software on many smartwatches (Apple, Garmin Venu 2 Plus, Samsung Galaxy Watch3, and more...) without the brightness automatically being adjusted through the day, yeah, I find the need to charge my EPIX 2.0 more frequently than the Amazfit Falcon.
Happy to hear the perspective, thank you. I am torn between the Cheetah Pro & Balance. I am unsure which of those two Amazfit watches is my favorite...
In the video it was the Garmin Fēnix 7X sapphire solar and it was on sale during Thanksgiving for $900 USD. I would recommend their newer model called the Garmin Enduro 2 foe the battery life is even more amazing 👏
Its not apple to apple comparison but nice for smartwatch beginner. I owned garmin tactix delta solar, fenix 5x plus and garmin epix 1st version. Ya its over price 😆
Thank you. And yes, I have done more content. Since that video was shared another 150 videos were also made public. And if you're still wanting more, yes, I have another channel called, "The Man with Two Watches" www.youtube.com/@TheManWithTwoWatches/videos Thank you for the positivity, Happy Holidays, and for clicking on by...
The Balance is nice, do not get me wrong, they are both VERY similar and they have both been upgraded with the night mode options (green, red, and orange font).
"yeap there we go". Yeah you selected the running man at the TOP of the watch.. haha didn't pop up on its on.. but the real question is ...WHY are you doing this? One is $399 vs $799..hello? That tells us everything we need to know. IT was never meant to go against Garmin
Perhaps, Amazfit has a secret vendetta against Garmin? Maybe, just maybe, Amazfit was started by a few ex-employees that left the Garmin Fold and started their own watch company, eh? It could be a possibility? And I must say, the Amazfit Falcon was a HUGE improvement for the organization. There ecosystem and app interface are improving too...
The maps did not improve much at all. All the Amazfit T-REX 2 offered were some lines, no colored maps like Garmin provides and has provided Users for years.
The lines do an okay job of getting you to a certain place, yet, not as fun as other maps. However, let us be honest. If you want nice maps, break out the smartphone! ;)
Pretty much, yep! The normal Garmin Fenix 7X is only $600 or $700 for the small sizes and contains the same map. The price of the Amazfit T-Rex 2 is $229.00, but yeah, there is a great price difference among the two watches. A few people from other videos asked for the comparison.
I am thinking of changing from a traditional watch to a smartwatch. Newbie question, does the watches have time laps feature? And can you transfer such time laps data straight to the phone/laptop by Bluetooth?
If you are wanting to transition from analog to smart, yes, I recommend... GARMIN. Without hesitation for they offer the "bang for buck", quality, community, leaderboards, sleep tracking/analysis, workouts with a "lap feature", steps, calories, Garmin integrates with the My Fitness Pal app (to keep track of your food). And at the end of the day, yes, Garmin will display your calories burned versus consumed. And yes, you can share your workouts with others, view all your data on the web via 24 inch monitor instead just your smartphone. Does Garmin pay me to be positive about their gadgets, nope, they do not. Here are few options I'd recommend if you were my neighbor: 1. Garmin Venu 2 - $399.00 USD, www.garmin.com/en-US/p/707538 I have tested both the Venu 2 and currently wear the Venu 2 Plus from time to time. The A.I. integration with Alexa that Garmin currently promotes need another seven months of refinement. Ergo, save your $$$ and just get the Venu. 2. Garmin vivoactive 4 - www.garmin.com/en-US/p/643382 a fabulous timepiece for just $329 USD (they are on sale today). I wore this one on and off again for about 18 months (different models) and loved them all. My son currently sports the Garmin vivoactive 3 and it is nearly four-year old and still ticks, tracks, and functions as it did when it was new. As always if you have further questions, type those pithy comments away or send me a direct message on Facebook, Instagram, or Twitter.
Thanks Rafan! I finally unboxed my first Suunto watch for the first time in 22 years - the Suunto 9 Gen 1 a few hours ago. The footage is done, yet, my MacBook Air crashed while exporting the 20-minutes gadget review. And now my Mac is updating. I hope to get the video exported, uploaded, and processed by those TH-cam servers sometime in the next 88 minutes.
Yes, Google maps on either the Garmin or Amazfit would be... FABULOUS! You should submit your idea to both orgs and maybe they will send you a free t-shirt?
The Amazfit and the Fenix shown in the video, yes, they both have small speakers, but no microphones. You can see the phone call coming in on your watch and simply have the option to accept or decline the phone call.
@@skyrock2266 You are most welcome. And in case you, or anyone is wondering, nope, the Amazfit Falcon cannot take phone calls directly on the watch either.
That's a decent feature set for the price, but I think you should've compared it with watches of the likes of the Polar Grit X Pro or the Suunto 9. They're obviously still going to be better (they're around twice the price) but the feature is going to be more similar than it is with the Fenix series which is the gold standard for navigation, but also costing around 3 or 4 times the money depending on the model you choose from.
Funny enough... I was thinking of the same thing! Thanks for clicking on by Juan and glad you watched. I am wrapping up my five tests of wearing both the Amazfit T-Rex 2 and the Samsung Galaxy Watch4 Classic. T-Rex 2 - $230.00 Galaxy Watch4 - $330.00 Yes, the Samsung was more expensive than the T-Rex 2; however, they are close enough for a comparison. My next one will be: "Amazfit T-Rex 2 versus Polar Grit X" As for the Suunto, sorry, I have not purchased a Suunto since the year 2000. The Suunto 9 of which you speak does sound intriguing - do you have one, how long, and what do you love about this wearable?
@@PeterHerget Watch 4 would be a very interesting comparison indeed, specially if you can compare heart rate accuracy, should you have a good quality chest strap as a base comparison. About Suunto, sorry, I am more a Polar user myself, I've been using the Vantage M2 about a year ago, now that my wife is looking to improve its training and fitness I am considering to give her my M2 and buy the Grit X Pro as I use to run and go to the gym, but I also spend many hours doing MTB on weekends and I appreciate the outdoorsy look and features. That being said, I've been checking the Suunto 9 as I really like sport watches in general 😅 they're very comparable but you could choose one over the other based on specific features: the Grit X Pro has better battery life during an activity, but the 9 Peak has better stand by time (the former can last around 5 days doing regular workouts, the latter can easily go 1 to 2 weeks) Suunto handles most of the ecosystem on the watch itself and the app is just for gathering data, whereas Polar has a more detailed web version, and the app offers more configuration. Polar navigation offers zoom but Suntoo has one of the best course builders on the market, but it is also breadcrumb and has no panning or zooming. It really depends on your needs and likes, personally I like more how Polar does things and how metrics are presented, but Suunto is no slouch either.
Yeah, I think Suunto, Polar, Garmin, Samsung, and Apple are all great values, when the go on sale, and they all have pretty great quality. I feel Fitbit has pretty close the same accuracy (from my own testing); however, the quality of the watches & fitness trackers Fitbit has been selling over the past three years, nope, their quality is lame - they feel more cheap than the Amazfit wearables. I am wore the Samsung Galaxy Watch4 Classic and the Amazfit T-Rex 2 over four days and nights. And plan to finish compiling the data/research tonight & tomorrow for a nice Saturday video. My next video will be about either an Anker product or the Amazfit smart-scale...
@@PeterHerget yeah, Polar and Garmin are for a different target audience because of algorithms accuracy, sensor quality and hardware technologies, it is good though to see some companies like Amazfit trying to close the gap with training metrics and integrations, although their accuracy remains to be seen, that's what mainly differentiates Sport focused companies from smartwatch focused companies IMHO. On the other hand, smart scales are very interesting products, I'll be waiting for the next video, cheers 😀
Thank you Juan for the pithy comments and for watching. Yes, I concur with you about Polar vs. Garmin and the difference in algorithms. I think there is definitely a place for Amazfit to compete though in this market. They simply need to focus on what they are great at and not get distracted about adding so many feckless features on their watches. 1. if there is something that appears on the watch, yes, it should appear on the watch's app 2. reporting - do NOT just collect the data, analyze it for the User and display it with insights to teach them about health 3. animations - it is the year 2022 and what a developer can do in just a few days amazes me, Amazfit could have spent another 11 hours designing animations on the watch when goals are reached or doubled (see Garmin & Fitbit for examples) 4. sounds - if you're going to add sounds to a wearable, and "sounds" and not just one buzzer sound. I'll expound more about this within the pros & cons video about the Amazfit.
Yes, yes they have... the maps on the Amazfit Balance are just lines, but slightly more clear; pretty much no maps on the the Balance, T-Rex, T-Rex 2. Now, on the Amazfit Falcon & Cheetah Pro, YES, they have downloadable maps. Within the UI (user interface), the User, you & me, simply choose the area of map to download to the watch. And yes, there are limitations of 32GB. Okay, this requires a video... I'll get on that toot sweet!
Okay, my delivery was not on time and days late, but I hope it was worth the wait... Here's the video about maps via Amazfit Cheetah Pro: th-cam.com/video/YVQESgF0m_c/w-d-xo.html Happy Holidays and an early Happy New Year 🥳 🍾 🧧 🎍☃️
TH-cam forced me to log in using my alter-ego, "The Man with Two Watches" Thank yo for the comment, Heather, and sorry about the Amazon Halo View. Good news though - AZ decided to cancel the entire project and in a few weeks the Amazon Halo/Halo View won't work anyway. I'll get you a better device A.S.A.P.
Let's be honest, how useful is a 1.3" map in size when running or cycling? For the vast majority of people it is just a gimmicky spec. If you really need maps on the go, use your smartphone or a dedicated GPS device with a decent sized display.
Yes, you are correct, a smartphone screen or GPS hand-held drive is far better for orienteering 🧭 or just using map directions any day of the week. It is fun to have a nice map on the wrist or at least turn-by-turn directions.
So it is my understanding that the trex is only doing basic gps tracking, which for me is fine at that price, I really am only using it as a tool for reference when backpacking off trail. Are you saying they are going to release an update that would give the trex topo maps!!?? Holy crap that would be cool!
I don't know to what detail the maps are going to be yet. The software release is scheduled for sometime today if all goes according to plan with Amazfit and the testing they were conducting. Like you said, for hiking and using the T-Rex GPS tracking as more of a reference point and not depending on it for navigation, yep, it works just fine.
Is it add the pause time data in ur whole workout activity? . ie. Suppose I m cycling and going to 3 points(A-B-C) From A to B and then from B to C Time of ride From A to B : 25 minute Wait/pause time at point B: 10 minute (You have pressed pause button here) From B to C: 25 minute . Now my total time of ride is 50 minutes Bt if I add my wait/pause time it will becomes 60 minutes . I have read the amazfit T-rex review it shows total time is 60 minute after exporting data to STRAVA app. My concern is those 10 minutes should not be add in my activity This issue is solved in amazfit T-rex 2 smartwatch?
I don't think I will be testing the Amazfit T-Rex Ultra. If Amazfit decides to send me one for testing, sure, I'll give it an honest review. Alas, I don't much like the design and would sick of wearing it after about five days. I do see why others may enjoy and love the design of the Amazfit T-Rex Ultra. Another negative is the Ultra only comes in black and I already have many black smartwatches and rings.
Earlier this year I tried the Suunto 9 smart sports watch and then returned to my Garmin. All I can say is the UI (user interface) clicking through Garmin Connect is better than Suunto. I really like the COROS health app, have you tried a COROS timepiece yet?
Yeah... that is a tough question. If you get the smaller Fenix 7S and skip the solar charging, you'll end up spending around $400.00 and yes, that is a lot more than the $229.00 Amazfit is charging. At the end of the day, nope, the Amazfit timepieces lack the refinement that Samsung, Garmin, Apple, Fitbit, and Withings already have. I am not saying Amazfit is not "bang for the buck", they simply need to add a little more Quality Assurance to their product before it is released. I am nearly done with my pros & cons video regarding the T-Rex 2 smartwatch and I think the list will help many understand my perspective about the Amazfit wearables.
How to work your watch is maybe something you should have figured out before you pressed record so we don't spend the first minute watching you fumble around with it.
Dear Andy, Good morning and thank you for clicking on by... of the two watches which one did you feel I lacked proper knowledge to create a video? Do you happen to own a Garmin Fenix 7X? Have you used an Amazfit wearable? Curiously, Pietro
Funny comparision. T-Rex 2 cost in my country around 1200 zł (250USD) while Garmin Fenix 7X cost around 3200-3700 zl (680-790USD) so author compared two "smartwatches" for completely different people, different needs and with 4-5 times price tag...You shoulkd compared Garmin to Sunto for an example and T-Rex to other similar priced smartwatches. The only difference for both of them is TicWatch with Google WearOS.
Thanks for the comment, and yes, I was quite aware of the cost difference. Sometimes the price doesn't matter and it is simply fun to compare two different ecosystems - Garmin & Amazfit. I will think about buying a Suunto...
I mean, I think this is the point of this video, right? It's saying the $229 watch is a good bang for the buck. Nobody's saying a $229 watch will have the same features as a $1000 watch, so you're not as clever as you think you are.
Did you like the video or did you just feel like making someone feel bad about a difficult to pronounce company name? Are you an English teacher? Do you work for Amazfit? Or do I work for Amazefit? I am so confused... I will call the company, do more research, and let you know the 200% correct pronunciation. Thank you for the feedback.
@@PeterHerget Hey Peter. Yes, former teacher. I apologize for making you feel bad. For the record, I am a subscriber and do like your content. I just feel that you unknowingly lose respect when you mispronounce a formal name. Keep up the good work, regardless of how you prefer to pronounce it... 😉
Funny you should ask that for I wanted to put that in the video and should have, but I ran out of time… I ran a test and the “resume later” feature on the Amazfit T-Rex 🦖 🦖 2 allowed me to “pause” the workout and resume over 8 hours later. I don’t know of a time limit, yet 8 hrs appears pretty good to me. As for the Garmin Fēnix 7X the “resume later” can delay a workout for days; however, if “resume workout “ is enabled than the Garmin Fēnix will not track sleep and I have tested that feature several times for verification 🤓
I am seriously debating either the T-Rex 2 or the Amazon Halo band. I heard that Amazfit has eSports as a workout. Is this true? What do you recommend more?
I have the Amazon Halo View band and it is pretty cool, basic, and minimalistic. I had to Google "eSports" and it appears to be the following: a five-minute exercise break between 30-minute playing sessions, they do push-ups, squats, kettlebell swings, deadlifts, and ab workouts. Saturdays are reserved for yoga. Fnatic's Filip “SmX” Liljeström. The couple also does personal training over Skype, working with big-time clients from the esports world. Did that sound about right? I checked the Amazfit T-Rex 2 workout list and did not find "eSports", but there are following and more: HIIT Core Training Body Combat Cross Training Mixed Aerobics Free Training Here's a list of even more on their website: support.amazfit.com/en/faq/1091
Just published another video about the Amazfit T-Rex 2 and it should answer more of your questions. Overall, yeah, I would go with a T-Rex over the Amazon Halo Band for the T-Rex is more fun to wear and looks more like a watch instead of just a fitness tracker.
Will the T-Rex 2,get maps like the one Garmin has?Not topo, but something like that.It would be fantastic, for its price. You said something about update, for the maps of T-Rex 2.
There is a large map update, and other updates, coming to the T-Rex 2 circa July 25, 2022. Amazfit stated on the website 'twill be an OTA (over-the air) software update giving the T-Rex 2 more details maps & navigation. Will it be as good as a Garmin Fenix 5 or 6? I have my doubts🧐 However, for the $200.00 price range, it surprise us all...
@@PeterHerget Thanks for replying.I live in Greece and i order it at 230 euros, from Amazon Germany.Hopefuly at the end of the next week,i'll have it in my hands.Previously i owned the Amazfit GTR 3 Pro,but the look was too classic for me.Still I was impressed by the accuracy of the GPS,and the measurements. The Zepp app needs a lot of work, and the Zepp Os too.
Yeah, the price for the Amazfit wearables is very good; however, their accuracy is not quite there to successfully compete against Fitbit, Garmin, Samsung, Polar, or the likes of Apple. However, for most people that simply want to track their health and need motivation to get off the couch and turn off Netflix, yes, the Amazift watch is nearly perfect for "good" health tracking results.
@@PeterHerget I found many used,Garmin Fenix 6x Pro and 6 Pro,in the Facebook Marketplace. But with the guarantee expired,or only for 3-4 months...no way.The Polar also very good, but we are in 2002.Big bezels around the screen, and no pulse oxymeter even in the high priced models, like Vantage V2 and Grit X Pro.A very interesting and beautiful watch, for me is the Coros Vertix 2.
I have yet to give the Coros Vertix 2 a try. I recently ordered a Suunto 9 smartwatch so, that will be a new wearable coming into my life, and 'twill be reviewed, tested, and VLOGGED about on this channel and/or "The Man with Two Watches"
the last update for the Trex2 is horrible the compass doesnt work now my stress can not be reading since last update the watch is now worst the gps not accurate only blood oxygen sensor not work properly i gonna sale it and stay with my 2 garmin watch and ticwatch pro

Hi, I was very interested in the T Rex 2 because in addition to trekking I follow specific training for the bike and the price seemed interesting to me. But following some reviews I have discovered the impossibility of following the maps and the impossibility of associating sensors. In my case, I wanted to associate cadence and power sensors for my bike workouts. From what I understand it is possible that in the next updates it will be possible to have on the T Rex 2 more or less the same maps as Garmin 7 and this would be great. Do you think it is possible that on the T Rex 2 there will be updates for the implementation of the sensors? Reading some comments now I am intrigued by Sunto 7, I think I will inquire about it. Thank you
Nope, no external sensors can be added or communicated with this Amazfit T-Rex 2. I tried the "Activity heart rate sharing" via the ZEPP app while wearing the T-Rex 2 and that feature did not work. There is also no music storage, and no pairing Bluetooth headphones with the watch. I think if they added just those two features along, yep, the price would go from $229.00 to $300.00
This may help... I am going to share another 20% off coupon for a Garmin Fenix later this month. I don't know your timeline for shopping, but before July 1st happens, yes, there will be another discount code up for grabs hidden in one of my videos.
Amazfit doesn't have maps. one need wifi in the woods where there's no wifi to be able to download a very small portion of map. maps need lots of space and garmin has 32gb. Amazfit doesn't .
@@PeterHerget I bought trex ultra and returned it. top of the line like looking watch but not so with readings and measurements nor memory space. tried to like'em. went with garmin enduro 2
WOW! the Amazfit T-Rex Ultra over to a Garmin Enduro 2.0, go big or go home! A good friend of mine wears the Enduro 2 and love the watch. And that is what is great about watches in 2023 - there is one out there for nearly every one to fit their needs...
Garmin wins! There, I figured it out. Garmin watches are more refined, they are over 40 choices, better accuracy for GPS, health metrics, and sleeping. And yes, Garmin makes several watches that sell for less than $300.00 USD. The social aspect of Garmin is better integrated as well Any other questions you have?
@@PeterHerget I could use a couple of layers of that thick skin of yours. LOL Thanks for letting me off the hook. I get into these damn fits where i am on amazon and beating my head on my desk trying to figure out what widget to get vs a competitive brand. I need to go fishing soon.
Thick skin is a requirement when having a TH-cam Channel if you're wanting to enable "comments" for the videos. Fishing is a great activity to relieve stress. And yes, it is difficult to decide on which widget is the right fit for one's lifestyle.
suunto 7, nothing comes close. I've tried FR955 and it frustatred me. suunto 7 can play HD movies with its SOC so it got plenty of power to show full maps with topo lines and heatmaps for various sports with turn by turn. they look aweomse and very easy to pan and zoom around with its compass you can plan ahead quicker than any garmin, including the fenix7
Thanks for sharing your Suunto 7 perspective. Yeah, color maps are the way to go. I still have a Suunto Adviser that I purchased back in 2020 and yep, it still works. I was about to order an S7 when I noticed the bezel size. I dislike the bezel on the Polar Grix X and the watch design of the Suunto 7 reminded me too much of that timepiece. What are your thoughts on the bezel design?
@@PeterHerget bezels doesn't matter to me too much. I'd like something like the Suunto 9 peak or Fenix 6s design wise. What I like about the S7 that outweighs it's form factor is it's trainingpeaks integration for body resources (body battery) recovery times and other in-depth data with NFC payments and music. I can use 3rd party apps and sports modes to offset the lack of coaching and structured workouts. Max 14h with gps tracking isn't s a lot though considering it'll last only about 3hrs with full cpu running HR BPM alerts, interval timers, music or audiobook, turn by turn nav, etc. I've never run that long though. You should try a Suunto 7 if u can, follow a route and see how quickly you can pan around get your bearings quickly. In the Garmins it's still a little hit or miss. (Software bug fix and updates needed)
@@PeterHerget only Suunto 7 is really any different. 5 & 9 are similar to 55 / 255 but with turn by tun navigation and no mapping. Just course lines. 9 & 5 have both SuuntoPlus and access now to third party "apps" style. Suunto Peak models have smaller bezels more to your liking. I'll go with FR955 once they sort out their map panning and cumbersome map UI. Thanks for your replies! New sub

I translated your comment using Google to the following: "Garmin is a tool and the rest is a toy..." So, was that what you trying to say? Why do you think Garmin is a tool or perhaps, that was a poor translation? In English when we say, "The thing is a tool!" it is a negative context. www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=Tool

Thanks for the feedback and yes, the Garmin Fenix 7X is one amazing watch.
is there other watch with real maps not just track recording not in a proce of fenix 7 ? I so agree with you ! 👌
In India Amazfit T Rex 2 costs Rs.16000 and garmin fenix 7x cost Rs.130000. So there is hell and heaven difference between two of these....
Yikes! That is quite the price difference.

Yes, there is the Ocean Blue (Special Edition) of the T-Rex 2 for sale at only $200.00 USD and mine updated to ZEPP OS 2.1 and the watch has been wonderful!
Amazfit good for low budget.Garmin is rock
Yes, I would agree
As a young person I am very much inclined towards T Rex, I think it looks pretty cool and since I have a fully functioning smartphone in my pocket I wouldn't be really using other features much
The Amazfit is a pretty cool watch for the price. Had I never worn the Garmin Fēnix 7X, yeah, I would have loved wearing it even more.
@@PeterHerget There are some more options like Suunto 7 and 9 they are also premium but cost less but feel amazing.
Yeah, the Fēnix 6X was a beauty. I am curious to see where Garmin takes the Fēnix series of wearables 🤔🧐🫠
If you're an average runner, just get the Amazfit, there's no need to get the Garmin.
I would agree with that statement. The HR and GPS are good enough for an average running. Sometimes the HR (heart rate) does take a bit to catch up, but many wrist-based HR sensors have that trouble. Thanks for clicking on by...
The crisp screen on the T Rex is waay better than the Garmin.
Garmin is the best monster gps watch

In the video it was the Garmin Fēnix 7X sapphire solar and it was on sale during Thanksgiving for $900 USD. I would recommend their newer model called the Garmin Enduro 2 foe the battery life is even more amazing 👏
Its not apple to apple comparison but nice for smartwatch beginner. I owned garmin tactix delta solar, fenix 5x plus and garmin epix 1st version. Ya its over price 😆
Yes, that is a great perspective, Bung Raden, for a beginner the Amazfit would be a great wearable.

Glad you like Amazfit - me too!
Just bought the T-rex 3, and still coontemplating the Balance now that its been getting even more features.
The Balance is nice, do not get me wrong, they are both VERY similar and they have both been upgraded with the night mode options (green, red, and orange font).
During running, how is it working? If it doesn't have a speaker, how will it notify us about the running duration???
Which watch, the Garmin or the Amazfit?
You’re comparing a 1,000 dolar watch made by a principal gps company to a 150 dolar watch
Yes.
"yeap there we go". Yeah you selected the running man at the TOP of the watch.. haha didn't pop up on its on.. but the real question is ...WHY are you doing this? One is $399 vs $799..hello? That tells us everything we need to know. IT was never meant to go against Garmin
Thanks for the comment. I had fun comparing the two watches.
Don't forget that Amazfit is quickly dropping support for its watches and the app has a subscription feature hidden behind a paywall.
Interesting... I was not aware they were dropping support of watches. What watch do you have that is no longer supported?
WHAT'S THE UPDATE FOR THE AMAZFIT TREX 2 MAPS? DID IT IMPROVE?
The maps did not improve much at all. All the Amazfit T-REX 2 offered were some lines, no colored maps like Garmin provides and has provided Users for years.
@@PeterHerget Thanks for the feedback. I guess lines are fine given its price point as long as it points at the right direction of the planned route.
The lines do an okay job of getting you to a certain place, yet, not as fun as other maps. However, let us be honest. If you want nice maps, break out the smartphone! ;)
Your comparing a $1000 watch to a $150 watch lol
Pretty much, yep! The normal Garmin Fenix 7X is only $600 or $700 for the small sizes and contains the same map. The price of the Amazfit T-Rex 2 is $229.00, but yeah, there is a great price difference among the two watches. A few people from other videos asked for the comparison.
Exactly
Exactly for my comment or for Rob Silv?
This watches price is high
Yep, many smartwatch prices are quite high.
Here are few options I'd recommend if you were my neighbor:
1. Garmin Venu 2 - $399.00 USD, www.garmin.com/en-US/p/707538
I have tested both the Venu 2 and currently wear the Venu 2 Plus from time to time. The A.I. integration with Alexa that Garmin currently promotes need another seven months of refinement.

I hope to get the video exported, uploaded, and processed by those TH-cam servers sometime in the next 88 minutes.
Google maps please
Yes, Google maps on either the Garmin or Amazfit would be... FABULOUS! You should submit your idea to both orgs and maybe they will send you a free t-shirt?
Does this have a phone receive feature with microphone and speakers.?
The Amazfit and the Fenix shown in the video, yes, they both have small speakers, but no microphones. You can see the phone call coming in on your watch and simply have the option to accept or decline the phone call.
@@PeterHerget Thank you so much for the info.
@@skyrock2266 You are most welcome. And in case you, or anyone is wondering, nope, the Amazfit Falcon cannot take phone calls directly on the watch either.
I can buy it??
yes, Amazfit and Garmin are for sale for U.S.A. and many other countries.
T-Rex 2 - $230.00
Galaxy Watch4 - $330.00
Yes, the Samsung was more expensive than the T-Rex 2; however, they are close enough for a comparison. My next one will be:
"Amazfit T-Rex 2 versus Polar Grit X"
As for the Suunto, sorry, I have not purchased a Suunto since the year 2000.
1. if there is something that appears on the watch, yes, it should appear on the watch's app
2. reporting - do NOT just collect the data, analyze it for the User and display it with insights to teach them about health
3. animations - it is the year 2022 and what a developer can do in just a few days amazes me, Amazfit could have spent another 11 hours designing animations on the watch when goals are reached or doubled (see Garmin & Fitbit for examples)
4. sounds - if you're going to add sounds to a wearable, and "sounds" and not just one buzzer sound. I'll expound more about this within the pros & cons video about the Amazfit.
yep, compare mercedes class G with daewoo tico
Okay, I will send an email to Mercedes 😁🎃🤓🤞
Hello Peter, how the maps on Balance or Cheetah Pro improved since this review ?
Yes, yes they have... the maps on the Amazfit Balance are just lines, but slightly more clear; pretty much no maps on the the Balance, T-Rex, T-Rex 2. Now, on the Amazfit Falcon & Cheetah Pro, YES, they have downloadable maps. Within the UI (user interface), the User, you & me, simply choose the area of map to download to the watch. And yes, there are limitations of 32GB. Okay, this requires a video... I'll get on that toot sweet!

Is it add the pause time data in ur whole workout activity?
.
ie. Suppose I m cycling and going to 3 points(A-B-C)
From A to B and then from B to C
Time of ride
From A to B : 25 minute
Wait/pause time at point B: 10 minute
(You have pressed pause button here)
From B to C: 25 minute
.
Now my total time of ride is 50 minutes
Bt if I add my wait/pause time it will becomes 60 minutes
.
I have read the amazfit T-rex review it shows total time is 60 minute after exporting data to STRAVA app.
My concern is those 10 minutes should not be add in my activity
This issue is solved in amazfit T-rex 2 smartwatch?
I am working on another video about the Amazfit and Garmin as it relates to cycling. I'll include the "pause" time to show you how it all works.

@@PeterHerget No "Amazfit t-rex ultra" modeling
I don't think I will be testing the Amazfit T-Rex Ultra. If Amazfit decides to send me one for testing, sure, I'll give it an honest review. Alas, I don't much like the design and would sick of wearing it after about five days. I do see why others may enjoy and love the design of the Amazfit T-Rex Ultra. Another negative is the Ultra only comes in black and I already have many black smartwatches and rings.
@@PeterHerget Thank you for your feedback. I hope they send it to you for testing.
Me too!
I hate the UI for Garmin it's like a 80 year old designed it. They should revamp some of it and make it smoother.
Smoother like a Samsung or Apple watch?
Earlier this year I tried the Suunto 9 smart sports watch and then returned to my Garmin. All I can say is the UI (user interface) clicking through Garmin Connect is better than Suunto. I really like the COROS health app, have you tried a COROS timepiece yet?
Thanks for the review. What do think does Garmin Fénix 7 worth the price vs the Amazfit Tvrex 2?
Yeah... that is a tough question.

What do you know, a $1000 watch has better specs than a $229 one? Huh, who would have thought
I mean, I think this is the point of this video, right? It's saying the $229 watch is a good bang for the buck. Nobody's saying a $229 watch will have the same features as a $1000 watch, so you're not as clever as you think you are.

Does the resume later feature on amazfit have a time limit?
I had to Google "eSports" and it appears to be the following:
a five-minute exercise break between 30-minute playing sessions, they do push-ups, squats, kettlebell swings, deadlifts, and ab workouts. Saturdays are reserved for yoga. Fnatic's Filip “SmX” Liljeström. The couple also does personal training over Skype, working with big-time clients from the esports world.
Did that sound about right?
I checked the Amazfit T-Rex 2 workout list and did not find "eSports", but there are following and more:

Core Training
Body Combat
Cross Training
Mixed Aerobics

Just published another video about the Amazfit T-Rex 2 and it should answer more of your questions. Overall, yeah, I would go with a T-Rex over the Amazon Halo Band for the T-Rex is more fun to wear and looks more like a watch instead of just a fitness tracker.

Yeah, the price for the Amazfit wearables is very good; however, their accuracy is not quite there to successfully compete against Fitbit, Garmin, Samsung, Polar, or the likes of Apple.
I think if they added just those two features along, yep, the price would go from $229.00 to $300.00
@@PeterHerget Right, I thought the same thing too. It would have been a small Fenix 7. Thank for your reply.
This may help... I am going to share another 20% off coupon for a Garmin Fenix later this month. I don't know your timeline for shopping, but before July 1st happens, yes, there will be another discount code up for grabs hidden in one of my videos.
@@PeterHerget Thanks for the tip. I will keep an eye on your page to possibly take advantage of the coupon. Thanks
It will most likely be launched this Saturday as my last video for the month of the June. Thanks for the support and for clicking on by...
You need to see the Amazfit GTR 4 not this one, against F7
I nearly purchased the Amazfit GTR 4 last week. Please, stop tempting me🤪 ;)
@@PeterHerget Go ahead, its awesome.
Is the heart-rate data less dramatic during a workout with the Amazfit GTR 4?
Amazfit doesn't have maps.
one need wifi in the woods where there's no wifi to be able to download a very small portion of map.
maps need lots of space and garmin has 32gb. Amazfit doesn't .
The Amazfit Falcon and the Amazfit Cheetah 🐆 Pro, yes, they have maps 🗺️. I will make another video for the Social Media Realms…

I bought trex ultra and returned it.
top of the line like looking watch but
not so with readings and measurements nor memory space.
tried to like'em.
went with garmin enduro 2
WOW! the Amazfit T-Rex Ultra over to a Garmin Enduro 2.0, go big or go home! A good friend of mine wears the Enduro 2 and love the watch. And that is what is great about watches in 2023 - there is one out there for nearly every one to fit their needs...
When you figure it out let us know. SMH
@@PeterHerget I was being a dick. Sorry about that.
Oh, I thought your question was a good one - short & precise 😁 Sarcastic and or pithy comments are always permitted...
Interesting thoughts, thank you R S, and I plan to give Suunto another look.
New sub

We advise not to buy inaccurate Xiaomi watches, especially sensitive to the heart
Why the warning about Xiaomi watches?
200$ vs 1500$
LOL!
:)
The Garmin Fenix 7X sells for around $700, yet, if you were to buy the Fenix 7 Tactix, yeah, it goes for $1,500. Was my video a fair comparison? Yes, yes it was...

All in all, yes, Garmin maps, and wearables, are better than Amazfit. Now, if you don’t need all the features and simply would like a smartwatch with great battery life, fun to wear, and B grade accuracy, sure, an Amazfit T-Rex 🦖 2 is a good buy.
@@PeterHerget i like amazfit t rex pro
You are comparing the incomparable. Garmin has built-in maps.
Thanks for the comment, Lukas. I think it is a great comparison for it gives Amazfit something to work towards - Garmin is known for the great maps.
@@PeterHerget yes, I agree, but T-REX wouldn't be worth $200. Amazfit can´t have everything for this price.
Yep, an excellent point Lukas. And for the sale price of $180.00, yes, the Amazfit T-Rex 2 is a great deal 😀
Garmin, это инструмент а остальное игрушки...
I translated your comment using Google to the following: "Garmin is a tool and the rest is a toy..."
So, was that what you trying to say? Why do you think Garmin is a tool or perhaps, that was a poor translation? In English when we say, "The thing is a tool!" it is a negative context. www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=Tool

@@SasSas-ch1or i mean garmin is costly for the same reason, there's no need to buy them when one is an average runner/cyclist

Yes, a very different smart watch. The T-Rex 3 has been a HUGE improvement.

Amazfit does function, they have yet to arrive to the same level as Garmin, Fitbit, Samsung, or Amazon.

What model of Amazfit did you have a horrible experience with and was it a T-Rex model?
