Another point - it was all good in 1935-40, we are now nearing 2020 so who has the authority to change it/crop it down in size and make it conducive to the present day Indians. I had read a bit about BN Rao but was not aware that he was a British bureaucrat and wrote it totally with a white flavour - shame to us....

As far as I know, Sir. B. Narsing Rau was the person who drafted the Indian Constitution. I also understand that he was chosen for the job because he was also the drafter of the Government of India Act of 1935. Many consider the 1935 Act the first constitution of India. He also was crucial in the drafting of the Constitution of Burma. I know that he did meet some of the great justices in the UK and the USA, including Justice Brandeis of the USA. Interestingly, he did not study Law. He was among the top 10 wranglers in the Mathematics Tripos exam at Trinity College, Cambridge University, and joined ICS soon after that. However, he started his career in the judiciary at Calcutta. Disclosure: He was my granduncle (the maternal first cousin of my father's mother).

Yes, there was Jawaharlal Nehru also in the committee. Constitution was made favouring the British! The extracts from different constitutions were given to Babasaheb just to arrange! And Babasaheb had told that this constitution would never benefit the country. He had nothing to do with this😢

Indian constitution was initially also the state matter. All the states had to give the constitution according to the state's need to the centre. And this is how 370 came into existence. In fact, I am of the firm belief that since the Constituent Assembly was not elected then it has been thrust upon the people of India. For the first few decades after independence, the then elders were still in the mode of servitude be it in administration, politics or in social set up and many people were ignorant of the various nuances of government functioming imcluding the Parliament etc. It is, therefore, absolutely necessary that either the existing Constitution is ratified or a new Constitution is framed with appropriate election procedure etc. for electing an elected body for framing it and subsequently getting it passed for implementation.

Because BN Rau at the time went to the united nation to faught case from the side of the Indian government in the Hyderabad Police action case When the Indian government annexed Hyderabad by the police force, the nawab of Hyderabad went to the security council to take legal action against the Indian government, so at that Time Indian government gave another task to BN Rau, apart from Constitution-making, to go to the security council and had to fight the case from the Indian government side

Why do people think that one man has done everything ? Constitution creation is a collective work. It's not just BN Rao or Babasaheb but it's effort put by all. But having said we can't take credit of Baba Bhimrao Ambedkar, who was the chairman of that committee. Under his leadership, the Constitution was drafted. He was the person who signed it. Another point - it was all good in 1935-40, we are now nearing 2020 so who has the authority to change it/crop it down in size and make it conducive to the present day Indians. I had read a bit about BN Rao but was not aware that he was a British bureaucrat and wrote it totally with a white flavour - shame to us....
Still he should get credit as he puts the foundation. It is possible that at that time no one knew how to write it.

As far as I know, Sir. B. Narsing Rau was the person who drafted the Indian Constitution. I also understand that he was chosen for the job because he was also the drafter of the Government of India Act of 1935. Many consider the 1935 Act the first constitution of India. He also was crucial in the drafting of the Constitution of Burma. I know that he did meet some of the great justices in the UK and the USA, including Justice Brandeis of the USA.
Interestingly, he did not study Law. He was among the top 10 wranglers in the Mathematics Tripos exam at Trinity College, Cambridge University, and joined ICS soon after that. However, he started his career in the judiciary at Calcutta.
Disclosure: He was my granduncle (the maternal first cousin of my father's mother).

In the world the great man first has to be born in the form of the great man and then he has to prove himself the great man by his enriched personality with virtues and by his great capability. According to such a rule of the world Dr. Bhimrao Ramji Ambedkar was born in the form of the great man, on 14th April 1891 at Mahu in Madhya Pradesh of India. Bhimrao Ramji Ambedkar, also known as Babasaheb, was an Indian nationalist, jurist, Dalit, political leader, activist, philosopher, thinker, anthropologist, historian, orator, profilic writer, economist, scholar, editor, revolutionary and the revivalist of Buddhism in India. He was also the chief architect of the Indian constitution. Born into a poor untouchable family, Ambedkar spent his whole life fighting against social discrimination, the system of Chaturvarna - the Hindu categorization of human society into four varnas - and the Indian Caste System.

B. N. Rau was appointed as the Constitutional Adviser to the Constituent Assembly in formulating the Indian Constitution in 1946.
He was responsible for the general structure of its democratic framework of the Constitution and prepared its initial draft in February 1948.
This draft was debated, revised and finally adopted by the Constituent Assembly of India on 26 November 1949.
As part of his research in drafting the Constitution of India, in 1946, Rau travelled to the U.S.A., Canada, Ireland, and the United Kingdom, where he had personal consultations with judges, scholars, and authorities on constitutional law.
Amongst others, he met Justice Felix Frankfurter of the American Supreme Court, who famously advised him against the inclusion of a clause for 'due process' in the Indian Constitution as it would impose an 'undue burden' on the judiciary.
The Constituent Assembly's resolution setting up the Drafting Committee, under the chairmanship of B. R. Ambedkar, declared that it was being set up to "Scrutinise the Draft of the text of the Constitution prepared by the Constitutional Adviser giving effect to the decisions taken already in the Assembly and including all matters ancillary thereto or which have to be provided in such a Constitution, and to submit to the Assembly for consideration the text of the Draft Constitution as revised by the Committee." There already was a Draft in existence when this Committee was set up.
The President of the Constituent Assembly Rajendra Prasad, before signing the Constitution on 26 November 1949, thanked Rau for having "worked honorarily all the time that he was here, assisting the assembly not only with his knowledge and erudition but also enabled the other members to perform their duties with thoroughness and intelligence by supplying them with the material on which they could work."

The 1st draft of constitution and genral structure was written by BN RAU.
Ambedkar was the head team ,which had more than 200 people, who debated and finalised the draft. I really dont see how what your have written answers the question.

At the same time I'm not sure you understand Dr. Ambedkar’s importance. He was not the head of the Constituent Assembly as you are suggesting here (that was Dr. Rajendra Prasad). Ambedkar was the head of the Drafting Committe (with 8 members) where detailed deliberations on the draft took place before it was submitted to the Assembly for a vote, so he did have a lot of say in its final form.
I still think the most influential was Sir Rau (apart from, of course, the Oligarchs- Nehru, Azad, Patel and Prasad)

He has just put together a mishmash of Wikipedia excerpts. I don't think he properly understands the role Sir Rau played, from his questionnaire to his Precedents to his white papers at every stage.

There can be following reasons why
Dr. Ambedkar is called as 'Father' of Constitution.
Sir B.N Rao was Constitutional advisor whereas Dr. Ambedkar was the Chairman of the most important committee that is Drafting Committee.
Pandit Nehru and Sardar Patel were looking for some foreign constitutional expert for making India’s constitution, at that time Gandhi askedWhy to look for some foreign expert when we have someone like Dr.Ambedkar? (Gandhi and Ambedkar had difference of opinion on fundamental issues still he promoted Ambedkar).
Drafting committee was the foundation for the Constitution Making, this committee studied constitutions of different countries and took only those principles which were relevant to Indian context.
So, Dr. Ambedkar was the man who contributed immensely to the constitution of a multicultural, multiethnic, multireligious country like India. Our Constitution is the most comprehensive document in the world, India could remain integrated because of the way Constitution has been made.
According to some of his followers this makes him the father of the constitution of the largest Democracy. Nevertheless Importance of other personalities must not be diminished, he should better be called 'Architect' rather than 'Father' because Dr. Ambedkar himself was against Fuhrer Syndrome (Supreme leader). Our country is suffering with this BHAKTI culture which must be stopped as political leaders are being treated as saviours.
The greatest tribute to Ambedkar would be to practice his ideas and principles in their true spirit instead of his deification.

I have seen only two persons working hard day and night in the constitution making and they are Dr.B.R.Ambedkar and his Dog Tobby.
-B N Rau from his book India's Constitution in Making.
There were 7 members appointed in the Constitutional Assemble, One of them resigned, whose place was empty all the time, one person died and that place was also empty, one member used to lived in America, ultimately his place also remained empty, one member was busy with his political duties and could not spare time in the Assembly, one or two people were out of Delhi hence it was impossible for them to adjust in Delhi’s cold weather. Ultimately the whole responsibility of framing of constitution shouldered on Dr.Ambedkar. We all are obliged and grateful to Dr.Ambedkar, who could complete the tough task of drafting the constitution alone. Therefore his work is truly appreciable.

In the world the great man first has to be born in the form of the great man and then he has to prove himself the great man by his enriched personality with virtues and by his great capability. According to such a rule of the world Dr. Bhimrao Ramji Ambedkar was born in the form of the great man, on 14th April 1891 at Mahu in Madhya Pradesh of India. Bhimrao Ramji Ambedkar, also known as Babasaheb, was an Indian nationalist, jurist, Dalit, political leader, activist, philosopher, thinker, anthropologist, historian, orator, profilic writer, economist, scholar, editor, revolutionary and the revivalist of Buddhism in India. He was also the chief architect of the Indian constitution. Born into a poor untouchable family, Ambedkar spent his whole life fighting against social discrimination, the system of Chaturvarna - the Hindu categorization of human society into four varnas - and the Indian Caste System.

B. N. Rau was appointed as the Constitutional Adviser to the Constituent Assembly in formulating the Indian Constitution in 1946.
He was responsible for the general structure of its democratic framework of the Constitution and prepared its initial draft in February 1948.
This draft was debated, revised and finally adopted by the Constituent Assembly of India on 26 November 1949.
As part of his research in drafting the Constitution of India, in 1946, Rau travelled to the U.S.A., Canada, Ireland, and the United Kingdom, where he had personal consultations with judges, scholars, and authorities on constitutional law.
Amongst others, he met Justice Felix Frankfurter of the American Supreme Court, who famously advised him against the inclusion of a clause for 'due process' in the Indian Constitution as it would impose an 'undue burden' on the judiciary.
The Constituent Assembly's resolution setting up the Drafting Committee, under the chairmanship of B. R. Ambedkar, declared that it was being set up to "Scrutinise the Draft of the text of the Constitution prepared by the Constitutional Adviser giving effect to the decisions taken already in the Assembly and including all matters ancillary thereto or which have to be provided in such a Constitution, and to submit to the Assembly for consideration the text of the Draft Constitution as revised by the Committee." There already was a Draft in existence when this Committee was set up.
The President of the Constituent Assembly Rajendra Prasad, before signing the Constitution on 26 November 1949, thanked Rau for having "worked honorarily all the time that he was here, assisting the assembly not only with his knowledge and erudition but also enabled the other members to perform their duties with thoroughness and intelligence by supplying them with the material on which they could work."
Rau was not a member of the assembly but was perhaps as important in the framing of the Constitution.

Indian constitution was initially also the state matter. All the states had to give the constitution according to the state's need to the centre. And this is how 370 came into existence. Later, sardar Patel said we will have one single constitution which will be of state as well. There shall be no different constitution of the state and that of the centre

Since NDA has the majority let it get the Constitution ratified and pass it for acceptance. In fact, I am of the firm belief that since the Constituent Assembly was not elected then it has been thrust upon the people of India. For the first few decades after independence, the then elders were still in the mode of servitude be it in administration, politics or in social set up and many people were ignorant of the various nuances of government functioming imcluding the Parliament etc. It is, therefore, absolutely necessary that either the existing Constitution is ratified or a new Constitution is framed with appropriate election procedure etc. for electing an elected body for framing it and subsequently getting it passed for implementation.

The first taft of constitution contain 240 article and 11 schedule was made by reports of all 13 commitess report ,government of india act 1935 and other countries constitutional features was included.This draft was made (cas) secretariat of constitution ,constituonal adviser and great sn mukherji (chief draftsman with help of km munshi and allhadi ayyar and most of members .drafting commitee was 29 auguest made before october rough draft made so basicaly giving only adviser all credit is also not valid then.

Why do people think that one man has done everything ? Constitution creation is a collective work. It's not just BN Rao or Babasaheb but it's effort put by all. But having said we can't take credit of Baba Bhimrao Ambedkar, who was the chairman of that committee. Under his leadership, the Constitution was drafted. He was the person who signed it. Things are not done by Modi but can we take credit from Modi ? Simply not. Why this simple thing doesn't go into the nuts head.

And your name could be copied and also you havent read the constition the has copied the idea not the whole defination of it. All the articles are made by drafting committees and main brain was dr. Ambedkar and amended by whole parliament. This means it is not copy paste. It got 1000 anendment according to betterment of country people. So you should not make yourself fool.
