Nkrumah's independence speech set the wrong tone for us, sadly!. "...the battle has ended" instead of 'the main battle has just begun' so as to plant the seed for the right values and sense of urgency in us all. Looks like at that time, many saw independence as a destination as opposed to a beginning of complex challenges. We thought (and still think) the food was ready to eat and we didn't have to do any recipe formulation and cooking on our own.
Why are you blaming Nkrumah's speech? Blame your incompetent current leaders for the mess cos if Nkrumah or someone like him were to be alive you wouldn't have blamed him.
@@may_beeharuno2195 Not blaming him at all! Words (and images) matter for conditioning purposes. That was a crucial time for us; as a society, we've not been conditioned well enough in terms of values for the 'new' country (post-colonization). The fact that we are still 'struggling' to find quality individuals to occupy leadership positions is a reflection of that. As a collective, the GH human software needs some re-wiring.
