Great video, thank you. Very insightful and not too technical for a beginner video. Altho I would love to see some really nerdy stuff as well

    Great! Keep the roasts coming.
    I've been playing with a SR800 for a little over a year - I'm finding I like about 17.5 % development on average.
I'm a fan and like seeing your much larger 3e in action!

Excellent material, it will help me a lot to organize some ideas when toasting in my small air toaster, thank you very much!

    Greetings from Mexico!
    Thanks for the video!
    Yes, that’s a slower roast.
I have a Trejo 1kg fluid bed roaster, gas powered (made in Mexico).
I opted for a more affordable manual roaster with no profiles to a computer. Thinking I’d learn more. The bean temperature probe is something I should consider adding.
Still a newbie at roasting with this model. Also own a Kaffelogic roaster for home use. The Trejo will be used commercially in a coffee trailer selling nitro cold brew.
Enjoy drinking coffee but it’s the science of coffee I’m absolutely passionate about.

Great video. I have a Valentine 3 arriving soon and can’t wait to start roasting on it. I’m coming from the Aillio Bullet so it will be a bit of a curve. I went with the Valenta because of the electric model like you. No gas lines. Also Ken and Coffee Crafters are a super accessible company and I feel like I’d like to be part of their system. Lastly, cost. Drum roasters are dang expensive 😮

My favorite roast videos are your roast along and all the value you provide along with it, i hope you continue to make more!!.....would you ever switch to a traditional drum roaster? Would it be completely different from roasting with an air roaster?

Thanks for watching! As we've almost doubled the amount of roasts now, changing to a drum has definitely been a thought. I really like how fluid bed roasters are using electricity vs gas though. It's clean air and doesn't require a gas line. If there's an electric drum roaster that has a decent capacity (3-6kg) then it would be enticing.

Why do you have to go to a cooling tray? Why not just keep it in the hopper and have the fan blow cool air - especially for dark roasts where you don’t have to look for quakers?
