The Christmas Tree farm could be definitely read as a standalone :) The only link between each books is obviously the town and returning/setting up characters for the next books. But both main characters in this book we havent really met before and they do tell you who each person is tbh e.g. Jacob - who is part of the towns book club etc

I hadn't read it, but I heard from another YT channel that the audio version is good. A bit of a spoiler, but there's a voice synthesizer (I think) section in the novel and the audio also stayed true to that; and listen to it via headset and not in public 😅. And that's what I heard about the book.
