This year I want to find the ultimate sub £100,000 performance car. The Nissan GT-R is the benchmark, and well...Saxton 4x4 thought the BMW M5 Competition is better than the GT-R! And to be honest, in almost every way it is...apart from one!

GT-R for me, that’s why I’ve had a 2010 for the last 7 years, bought privately for just under £40k, and still worth £35k with 22k miles on the clock (it’s my 2nd car). Super car performance (mine is 600hp) with legendary status. Love the looks too, like no other car, Unlike the M5 (which I love BTW). Really looking forward to your 2021 challenger comparisons SOL 👍
Everyone has different options but I would take m5c any day

The M5 looks like a BMW, the GTR turns heads when it rolls by, at this price you want to stand out a bit. GTR for me.
Was once in the vienna airport loading with my friend Zed's ex bmw m5 and everyone was stopping by to take a picture :D so this is quite funny to hear that its just bmw :D cause it isnt really :D no offence :D
Not everyone wants to stand out. The M5 is a sleeper in comparison which is attractive to a lot of people who don’t like the looks of the Nissan.
The BMW definitely turns more heads, in fact no matter what BMW you drive it will turns heads because BMW is a premium brand and we the people connect it reasonable with style, coolness, wealth and luxury. I'm a 2016 BMW owner myself and mine in alpine white turns everyones heads - elegant and sporty.
In this particular case, the 5-Series and the M5 are the most luxurious business sports limousines on earth.

There’s a reason why the M5 after 1 year, drops (even though being more expensive initially when they were both brand new) within a grand of a several years older GTR...............

The M3 F80 LCI is now my current daily driver, and my former daily driver was my E85 FBO R35. The M3 has been the daily now for 4months. Yesterday I took the R35 for a Sunday drive. I couldn’t wipe the smile off my face. The F80 M3 is a brilliant daily car with plenty of refinement, and more than enough get up and go for the commute - but there’s something so special when you have an R35 under the hammer that M Performance cars will never be able to replicate. As always - one car is not the best solution in all scenarios - so when possible, having numerous cars so you have the right tool for the right purpose, is ideal.
GT-R will always feel more special when you take it out and feel like an occasion whereas the BMW although an awesome motor will get boring. Trust me, I know. If you could only have one car to do everything it would be the BMW but for all out excitement GT-R IMO
My neighbor has a new M5 Competition and buddy has a new M550i and honestly the M550i is amazing and more than enough, it's on my shortlist along with the Q8. The GT-R is an interesting and terrible car, several friends had them and all got rid of them within less than a year, it's never done anything for me.

I'm assuming it's the particulate filters, but that M5 sounds rubbish for a V8. The Audi and Mercedes V8s are much deeper and much nicer tone wise. Out of the two, I'd go for the GTR, and I'm not the biggest V6 fan. Plus, an M5 with 4 doors isn't really needed. I don't have 3 friends.
But then you have to think about the fact that the BMWs don't have any soft limiters on them
M5 comp with cool exhaust. You need it in your life!
Gtr all day long ,it looks like a supercar and has serious road presence ,this car still stands the test of time
the M5 gets boring so quickly, you would get rid of it in a few months, so keep the GTR

Not everyone does only drags, the GTR is faster if you zigzaging on the motorway and faster on the track, also with a £3k tune to the GTR it will be faster also on drags.

£30k depreciation in 12 months oof! Also the GTR has much more street presence imho so I would have to go GTR.
It's bc of covid. Showrooms have to get rid of the car to prepare for new reg cars. Even GTRs have some crazy depreciation. My uncle was going to get a new GTR last month but found a showroom spec, delivery miles car for £50k

I don't like modern BMWs, really don't, but i'd take that M5 Comp over a Nissan with an ancient gearbox every hour of every day of every year, if forced to choose between the two. ..but i'm not the one buying any of them, and i'm happy you feel good about your choice. ..and i think the GTR could be the basis of more interesting videos, if you decide to make them.
Dam right! The GTR is the winner! Drive one and you will get way more people appreciating it. Drive the m5, you could be seen as driving an Uber with modifications to the exhausts... over looked.
I enjoyed watching the Video Comparison. I would choose the GT-R

No way, GTR every day of the week. The M5 has very little road presence and you would mistake it for a normal 5 Series.
Two very different cars but given the choice I would go for the GTR - just because its a bit mad :)........The M5 is a an absolute beast of a car and probably ticks more boxes but in terms of driving experience and fun it would have to be the GTR.
Full bolt on GTR on E85 and you good to go

In my opinion, if you want to own it for long term GTR is going to be much more reliable in all weather. I am not sure about UK, but in other regions around the world, M cars have lots of temper. Sometimes it is hard to fix certain issue once when the warranty is gone. Plus, if you want to make power or build the engine up, you definitely have more options to upgrade and I am sure 1000hp GTR can somehow be quite reliable compare to an m5 in 1000hp. ( Looking at those crazy tuners turn it to 3000hps, i believe they can turn a 1000hp gtr easy and durable!)
Don't know why but the last few m5s don't do it for me still prefer an f80 for British roads. Saying that iv never driven an m5, they just look to big.

But it still has raw charm that other cars still can't touch to this day..
Get a set of OE Dunlop Sport Maxx GT600 tires for the GTR, this car simply doesn’t work with Pirelli P Zero, Michelin ps4s or pss, this car has to run with OE runflat or tires with rigid sidewall like R888R, other wise you lose steering response and that sharp edge for handling.
Cars to consider in this 60-70k price mark is: a pre face-lift Merc AMG GT, a stage 2 BMW M5 comp, Merc E63s, Nissan GTR, Ford Mustang GT, Lambo Gallardo,Pre 2020 RS7/RS6, F-Type R

I have a 800bhp gtr 2014 Litchfield tuned stage 5 and had it for more than 5 years nothing compares to it and still holds value unlike the m5 lol

Definitely keep the GTR. M5 is just a souped up saloon car that’s good on motorways and long drives. Forgetting performance, it doesn’t look anything like as good and you definitely don’t seem to need practicability!
Your type of car and driving is about enjoyment. The GTR is way more fun, and how often are you doing 0-60 in 3s around Chelmsford? Ultimate performance is irrelevant unless you’re into serious track driving, in which case the GTR is still more fun.
You can literally make the M5 a 625hp rear wheel drift Machine at the flick of the switch... how is that not more fun?

@@SteRumbelow what happened to hammering down your favourite B road and the back end just slipping out coming out of the tight bends just enough so you can reel it back in. The GTR does it, but it really doesn’t like it.
You’re mad. The M5 looks a hell of a lot better, is more impressive, sounds better, has a nicer interior and does 0-60 in about the same time. The GTR is pretty boring and overdone.
@@ethanwaterfield3830 I could do that in my Dad’s 328i SE in the early 2000s. You don’t need a 625hp engine to do that. And stepping the rear out on a B-road is very different to your suggestion of making it a ‘drift machine’.

M8 or M850i would be a much better choice to compare with the GTR
It's two different type of cars.. For me the M5 Comp I can say it's for my father if he not interested in SUV.. 4 doors car that can daily use to send and pickup my sister from school.. Me I would choose the GTR.. ✌️
Gtr is an itch I never scratched!! Never really won over my rs6, I did however really like the m5s when I test drove one but still came home in the audi.

Love the M5 but depreciation on them is the biggest let down. 2015 m5 is around £30k.
2015 GTR is around £50k. Yet the m5 is the more expensive car to start with.
I love BMW’s but the M5 lovely car but depreciation is like a lead balloon GTR better looking car by far but are totally different cars

The M5C would not survive a track day. And not just because it's weight would shred through it's tires. Mechanically, it's a ticking time bomb, and if you spend too much time on track, something is guaranteed to blow up in your face. The GTR would never leave you stranded like that.
The m5 competition isn’t the best super saloon, the king of super saloons is the hsv gtsr w1. 6.2 v8 supercharged 640 bhp with a manual gearbox. And you won’t c another one on the road. The gtr is a beast but it’s getting on a bit now.

One car is a legend, the other is a big, fast taxi.
You can say what you want the M5 is a great car. It is lovely, well engineered, super build quality, modern .... and about as sterile and bland and a white sheet of paper. White paper is great to write on, it is excellent; but, do you want a white sheet of paper. The M5 will burn its brakes on the track in 3 or 4 laps, of course if you don't need track performance (and lets be honest 99% do not); and you want an invisible car like many sales people, the M5 will be great.
Mate you think the M5 is invisible, I get so much attention in mine, more than in my C63. People know your driving a serious piece of kit!

I'm sure the BMW is a great car, well built, fast, comfortable, top quality etc etc etc, but its a BMW, every Tom, Dick and Harry has a German car, think ive seen more 1 series and A class than Golf and Civic.
imo driving any M BMW or Merc AMG, is no deafferents (Apart from speed) from a entry level A180 and E AMG or 118 and M8... the interior is pretty much identical, in Merc, not sure bout BMW, and BTW I own a 2013 C63 AMG, and I'm actually embarrassed driving it now... (upgrading to a Nissan GTR when the lockdown is over)
Brilliant choice, just don’t go overboard on the mods. Litchfield are reliable, expensive but you get what you pay for. The GTR does need to be looked after and taken out regularly also it likes to slide if you boot it in the rain but it’s controlable. I’m sure the C63 is worse in the rain 😂 good choice though you will not be disappointed.
@@lewishardiman7628 yep, splashing out on the Track Edition, cant really afford the Nismo :) And since its likely to be the last petrol engine GTR, i might as well.
Its a lot of money and some might say its not worth it for an 10years old car, with no 20" touch screen on the dash, but still, rather have a GTR than any M or AMG.
@@JayJay-vd4jp absolutely my friend. I just moved to Spain in October and I’m still waiting to ship the GTR out here 😂 the track edition GTR is a beast!! To be honest I think the track edition is just as good as the nismo. The only real difference I see is the fancy body kit and some alcantara in/on the interior. I just have a 640hp 19plate Premium GTR in Pearl white. It’s only had a remap on the ecu no pops and bangs though it’s just suttle.
It fits in his criteria. Must be painful then.

I will say this before I watch the video. I have a family so m5 is better. But r35 is better as a second car. They aren't similar enough to compare in mu opinion. 4door vs 2 door.
GTR any day of the week... not even a question. If you are a 60 yo uncle, maybe choose the BMW, but the GTR gives that extra feeling..
