How laminations reduce eddy current...you R is inversely proportional to the Area but this is the cross section area and eddy currents flows on surface and surface area is still same when we use laminations.
For induction of EMF relative motion is not mandatory...it can happen because of varying magnetic field.....the actual definition will be like change in flux linkage cause induced emf.
It might not be the best question to ask but I recently studied Ac motor(Induction motor) where I got to know continuous changing field induces Eddy current.what really confused me was as the magnetic field of stator kept changing it produced absolutely no effect on the magnetic field produced by the Eddy current as if it had induced permanent poles.The north and the South Pole of the induced Eddy current kept moving towards the magnetic field of the stator but could've simply reversed their field to counteract the change of field.why does that not happen? .I hope you can help me with it
