both the clapton version of this song and mac's version have their strong suits. I feel like the effects on mac's version give you an unmistakably nostalgic feeling, like summer and your parent's days. but the clapton version amazes me with his solo, which is a stellar demonstration of his talent, and the jazzy ? bluegrass? ish feel he adds makes the song interesting. tl;dr : both are good covers
to be fair Clapton wrote this song as an allegory for shrinking himself down to enter other people and pilot them like some of Gundam, which is a desire most people share.

This comment section is just awful. You are just awful. It's a good cover, but you gotta think about a few things. He didn't release it, and I haven't seen footage of it live so it's not like Mac LOVED it. Another thing is, it's all subjective. Mac is like 25? Eric made this song in the late 80's so he was what pushing on 50? Age doesn't really matter but Clapton was running out of ideas and had been doing the poppier stuff for so long that if he had done it any other way it wouldn't have made it through his record company. Another point, how are you actually gonna say Mac is a better guitar player? Clapton played with SRV, Hendrix, Buddy Guy, Jimmy Page, and any other great guitar player of the last 60 years and could rival them all. Another point, you're all forgetting about Cream, Eric's third band with Jack Bruce and Ginger Baker. That band was really the first band to do the psychedelic guitar music successfully. Without them bands like The Beatles, The Doors, The Rolling Stones, and these other bands wouldn't have had the balls to release trippy records (Cream weren't the first playing it but they were the first to release an album and have it chart in that genre). Also, Clapton in the late 80's was on this downward spiral of alcohol, cocaine, and heroin. The dude was SMACKED for EVERY song on EVERY record. I like Change The World but I'm sure Eric didn't even remember the sessions for it, just another daze to fight through. So stop hating on Eric like he did a bad version of a Mac song or something. I bet in a few years when Eric passes (he's 73) the people in this thread will be the same people who cry out about how the world lost a legend. This version made me want to do two things. One being never talk to other Mac fans and two, listen to Clapton.
This is what the Beatles would've sounded like in 1972.
I grew up listening to this song with my grandpa, it fuckin blowd my mind that my fav Demarco covered it. full circle moment
whaaaat
grandpa lament had that dad rock taste
Mac DeClapton
Puajj
I think the chord he goes to just before the chorus really makes the song! THAT ONE CHORD!
Damn this goes hard. Hidden gem for sure
This version makes the clapton version look like a cover of this one
This is one of the best things I have ever heard in my lifetime
Mac was like teleported from the 80s

This song brings me so much peace.
It makes me feel beautiful.
This is what happens when you play music every day. Love Mac DeMarco and his Stratocaster good times

@@angusdaley The Charlie Brown is better than modern pop radio.
Loki addicting song for me
nailed it. i gotta say, you really got me on this one.. eric clapton not so much...
+Federico De Coco i mean... eric's a classic... but this, ufffff
+Federico De Coco one of the rare times a cover is better then the original, mac is good at doing this
+Marc Demaco Mac just pulled it off again yesterday. I think he might release a record of covers.
That jangley intro is 10x better then Clapton
Is this cassette still available for purchase?
One of my favourite songs by one of my favourite artists, but this doesn't work!
Sounds very tame impala influenced
Mac has really destroyed Clapton on this
okayy
That's right
macky boi pimping up eric
🖖
Fuck this is tasty as fucking fuck
Aww yeah Clapton
Kinda sounds like Nirvana too
Who's playing that delicious slide guitar in all these new songs, is it Mac?
probably andy white (Andy Boay)
Mac records all his albums by hand himself. It's rare that he brings someone in.
I've always thought that too. But damn, if Mac isn't growing as a musician. That slide, and those melodies are incredible.
+Travis Grandstaff you should check out his makeout videotape guitar playing too. Particularly on songs like future boy, so so good
+Kris Baneham seconded
anyone know the tabs/chords for this cheeky little bopper?
brad Naylor just find eric's version and add a capo on the first fret, its E and A on the verses with some fancy shit haha, just work around that!
I got ya, cheers dude x
brad Naylor no problem! Happy holidays!
blowhand?
Change the Chorus, pleeease!
nice :)
this is alot better than eric claptons version
Mackie Clapton
tab?
Como guitarrista Clapton é muito melhor, mas o Mac possui uma coisa maravilhosa chamada weird vibe
Anyone know chords on the chorus?

Where can I download this album ? I NEED IT
It's an unreleased song, belongs to no album and isn't available on Spotify or iTunes. Such a shame hope he puts it in new album coming this August.
wait, he's releasing a new album this august?
+ethan limes no, he's not
yeye son
Super Michael Jacksonish. Lovely
Leticia Marti what??
Better than the original, but I don't know why Sammy gets so hyped over boring music.
this aint bad but Clapton's version sounds MUCH better to me
Sounds like Connan Mockasin
Goctagon u mean conman mockasin sounds like mac demarco
Emmanuel Nava No, I mean Mac sounds like Connan Mockasin in this song. Mainly the vocals.
How do i download this?

Mac took a shitty song and made it amazing
starscream731 it wasn't bad, it sounded flat. Mac made it more colorful and vibrant. still a solid song though
CLAPTON IS GOD
(man)
If Clapton is god then Mac is something way more
Jaime Zavala How on earth could anyone possible make the case for MacDemarco being a better musician than Clapton himself?...
Northern Hues vibes
well...claptons version is better.

Cool my dude

Is this song a part of a meme? Why do people like this version so much? Sounds like shit compared to the original.
Listening to too much adult contemporary easy listening recently huh?
exactly i dont get it
So... the people saying this is good are joking right? Am I missing a meme? Have I missed another goddamn meme
No this is genuinely my favorite song. no meme
this is so bad , the original one was better Clapton has so much feel, this doesn't he has no feel to it, this is not a good cover at all
