I love Doomsday Blue. I think it'll be polarizing (seen a lot of lists ranking it last right now), which isn't surprising, but I AM surprised to see that the JURIES pushed this. This doesn't seem like a jury-bait song lol Need Bambie to pull off a great, upgraded performance so Ireland can qualify and have a MaMa SC!/Blind Channel kinda reaction
I'm quite enjoying pushing those who are negative about Doomsday Blue and trying to get them to pinpoint what they don't like about it. It doesn't take long for many of the critics to come out with it's "unholy" or "satanic" or such nonsense (all of these same commenters I'm pretty sure were bopping along with El Diablo in 2021) so yeah, I'm glad to have it selected and am going to continue enjoying the little children getting provoked by it. What was the most surprising was how vocally loud the crowd was for Bambie. I think Eurovision crowds could react in a similar way throughout the season. And, if nothing else, when can you honestly say that's ever been even a possibility for an Irish selection?
@@kaleproject3495 did you see their Winner's Performance, where their friends ran onstage to tackle/hug them? Cutest thing ever! Bambie could be the Kaarija, cinnamon roll of the season lol Honestly, i can see why people may not like it since its a very in-your-face kind of song/genre, but its the kind of song that WILL get a reaction and that's important in ESC. The screaming goth person isn't a persona you see much in ESC and i dig it
Ireland made the right choice in terms of potential. Many fans seem to dislike 'Doomsday Blue', but Ireland has climbed to 15th place in the winning odds, which reminds me of Croatia last year (even though 'Mama sć' is a lot worse). Whatever the result, Ireland is bringing something noteworthy to the Eurovision 2024 lineup, which matters the most imo.
That's the same thing I'd tell people. This isn't about picking a song that you might personally like, many won't, it's about actually having a proper go at the contest again and not just making up the numbers. Especially after the allocation draw, there's a good chance that Ireland don't qualify, but fans need to be supportive and let the delegation know they were on the right track here. Ireland CANNOT go back to sending the "Love Me Like I Do's".
@@kaleproject3495 I agree that delegations need to listen to fans and not focus solely on the result (example is Spain last year). Also Ireland is now the 8th favourite to win Eurovision 2024. Are the Irish betting on their own country perhaps?
06. Love Like Us (03/10) 05. Judas (04/10) 04. Doomsday Blue (04/10) 03. Go tobann (05/10) 02. Love Me Like I Do (07/10) 01. Let Me Be The Fire (08/10) Ireland never dissapoint in terms of bad selection :)
Heyho My thoughts on the Songs: 6. I like it (2) 5. Not a big Fan (6) 4. Also not my thing (5) 3. Pretty good (4) 2. Interesting one, but to messy (3) 1. First of all I appreciate Ireland is finally trying and sends something unique, unfortunately the chorus is way to much for me and very easily gets on my nerves But as long as It doesn´t I can enjoy it (1)
I don't mind doomsday blue winning, it was probably the best in the selection. I do wonder what it will look like in May though. It strikes me the song that could either do really well or completely flop in the contest
I think you're right to worry about its prospects. It's still fairly out there, and in ESC in some countries, there's still a conservative-leaning televote. The important thing is that it has a chance. Irish entries can't always say that.
Go Tobann was my favourite, but it’s just not a song that really works as a stage performance (especially not on the rinky dink piece of shit provided) The international jury giving Love Like Us 12 points should be considered an assassination attempt
Go Tobann really grew on me and I would've been happy had it been picked. Considering that Ailsha is more of a songwriter than seasoned performer, I was incredibly impressed with how good she had the song sounding, even considering the less than ideal circumstances of performing in that studio. Seeing any member of Wiwibloggs on an international jury, instantly puts me on BS alert. And, I was worried at that point.
Same ranking. Hope Ireland gets drawn into a good semi, Bambie fully deserves the qualification.
Soon enough, we'll be out there speculating on "weaker" and "stronger" semi finals...the season moves so fast!
Same ranking! I was definitely pleasantly surprised that Ireland picked Doomsday Blue.
Televote AND national jury!
Could this be the beginning of an Irish good taste era? Let's hope so!

Definitely not what I'd usually have you going for but well done Bambie for converting you a little!

Wow. This selection really wasn't for you. These are definitely low grades by your usual levels of generosity!

Bit of boyband love in there. Good to see it!
Ireland 7th in the betting odds as we speak, which already shows that it has been a successful year.

i liek go tobann
In the end, I did, too!
With the top two songs, I was quite happy for whichever one was performed best live to take it, and that's what happened.
