They deserve to be absolutely bigger. Imagine Dragons is just a piece of shit, but Ian has an amazing voice and is very talented. Look at his job with Karnivool, his true masterpiece; it’s absolutely beautiful
Read Alan Strom's comments, he knows what he's talking about. Have a long listen to every song by Melbourne band called AUTOHAZE, they are a trillion times better than BOTokyo. Did commercial radio play their quality music every 10 minutes, no they didn't. Commercial radio didn't play THE CASANOVAS, who in my opinion are one of the best Rock bands of all time. Back in the 80's, the music director at MMM radio, ran and hid behind a pot plant when THE LIME SPIDERS went into the radio station to promote their latest album. Of course they didn't play it. THE LIME SPIDERS are 500 trillion times better than the mediocre manufactured and contrived emo lyrics, pulling at the heart strings of people who can relate. Have a listen to THE SUNNYBOYS or MACHINATIONS or V SPY V SPY or THE VENETIANS or THE EUROGLIDERS. These are just a few examples that crossed my encyclopaedic mind. The point is, that compared to these artists, and hundreds, no thousands of other class acts, the BOTokyo are rubbish, I despise them . Now, being down the front at The San Miguel at Cammeray in 1982 was very exciting and thrilling because at any second Grace and Bernie would be on stage with the Mighty EUROGLIDERS, playing top quality music. There used to be hundreds of LIVE venues and hundreds of quality bands, now most of the venues are closed and there aren't many quality bands to play in them. Recently I saw THE GANG of FOUR at THE MANNING BAR and RADIO BIRDMAN at THE FACTORY THEATRE. The Hopetoun and Excelsior are gone. I remember going to The Trade Union Club to see The Hoodoo Gurus in 1984. Fans of the horrible BOTokyo weren't even born. I'm very passionate about quality music, that's why I have an extremely low opinion of BOTokyo
Took a couple of spins, but this song finally made it straight to my head, and doesn't wanna go away anymore it seems... EP is very quiet, peaceful, but sounds amazing! Please bring them in Europe one of these days...
Birds, You never cease to amaze me. I fall more and more in love with this band every time I hear Kenny's voice. Can't wait for your Sydney shows in December.
have searched for this for months. am a fellow aussie and love my aussie bands bands. never heard of the guys b4 now but after listening to the EP can say i am hooked thanx guys big time. yhis track is awesome to the max.........

The first time I listened to this, I thought it was a bit uninspired compared to BOT's earlier work. Three hours later the chorus had not left my head and now I can't stop listening to it. So I guess what I'm saying is that yeah, this works for me!
for all the negative comments we put them in this fire, this fire, this fire,we lit it ,this fire this fire, this fire,we lit it all burn.great song guy's keep them rolling.
The song is about letting out all your anger. If you can make peace with society then you can move on instead of engulfing your enemies in fire. Fire/anger brings chaos.
To me this EP is one of those ones where the more you listen to it it the gets better. I relate these songs to that of Florence and the Machine's most recent album. When i first heard that i was so disappointed because it was so different to their first album, but then i put it on repeat whilst studying and fell in love with almost every song. I'm already a huge fan of this one. PS. Lot better if listen to quite loudly
Gutted we couldn't make the forum the other night. heard it was a smashing event! catchy as song fellas. Hope we can share the stage with you very soon!!!
So you can tell how an album is going to sound from one song can you? Check out the other songs on the EP, and be glad they put it out for the wait for next album.
This is my first comment on TH-cam and i lovee this song and im glad to see im from Australia,Perth also and i know someone who is their drummers cousin which is awesome :)
THIS IS ONE OF THE VERY BEST BANDS I HAVE EVER GIVEN A LISTEN TO. PLEASE CHECK THEM OUT. THEY ARE SO WORTH IT. FROM PERTH AUSTRALIA...THE BIRDS OF TOKYO

@skoottar This is a great track. And even if I didn't think so, (Which I do with some BOT tracks.) I wouldn't tell Mr. to quit one of his passions., ya dig?
This song reminds me of my hometown and where I live, how mining and greed has completely left it looking like the moon on earth through the past smelting process, not to mention global environmental/health issues. This doesn't include the amount of family alcoholism/drug addictions that the "big bread winning" mentality has created. Just like Stompin' Tom sings, "Sudbury Saturday Night.." I don't laugh, I lived it. I totally feel this song. It's a great song.
This clip reminds me of a tool video clip and people say the band Karnivool sound like the band tool, both birds of Tokyo and Karnivool have the same lead singer???
I absolutely love both bands. I prefer the lyrical content of Birds for example if this ship sinks is incredible for lyrics and the song itself is one of my all time favorites. Karnivool have better 'live' songs as they are more energetic and I think they demonstrate Ian's vocals better. Between the 2 it's a touch choice and I can't really pick which one I prefer.
When Australian bands find fame they hardly ever do regional tours. They have the opportunity to spread their music across the world and as much as we'd love for them to play our small towns the sad truth is that they would take the international shows before regional Australian shows.
While I agree with you that it doesn't sound like Young Modern, I think what he meant was that this is a really good band that wrote really great and clever songs on their previous work and have now conformed to most of the generic trends in the mainstream Australian music industry. Which I do agree with on his statement about this song but I like Lanters and all the other tunes on the EP. But I'm much more partial to their earlier work.
Why isn’t this band as big as Killers, Muse, Imagine Dragons etc? Great great band. Hope to see them live one day
This song should be played in all US cities right about now! A lot of depth.
Birds of Tokyo deserves to be as big as Imagine Dragons.
They deserve to be absolutely bigger. Imagine Dragons is just a piece of shit, but Ian has an amazing voice and is very talented. Look at his job with Karnivool, his true masterpiece; it’s absolutely beautiful
Or more.
Brilliant song , brilliant band nothing more needs to be said.
the most underrated song !!! not even 1m
This is my favourite Birds of Tokyo song, I love it, good gee up song.
Birds of Tokyo, you never let me down.
Ian has the most awesome voice ever.
This song calls back my memories of life in NZ, its Oz though lol. Im from Tokyo BTW..
Wanna know why we listen to it?
The lyrics mean something
Birds of Tokyo work hard and make good shit
It's good music that makes people feel good
His voice is perfect yet again.
I'm really happy to find this band!!

I get it
It is a repetitive song, looking forward to hearing the others...
It is catchy though!! Having it stuck in my head all day!!
@skoottar This is a great track. And even if I didn't think so, (Which I do with some BOT tracks.) I wouldn't tell Mr. to quit one of his passions., ya dig?
reminds me of silversun pickups
@Lindsey Ann I might be wrong but didn't they get a break with this song and plans? Just wondering
i like this fire but thanks to your comment, i've given murmurs a listen and it's awesome!

Birds of Tokyo status: Still awesome.

I know how you feel. I thought I'd have a gander this afternoon and it wasn't there. What the hell, JB? Not good enough :S
