    the bone blast ability on the grotesque is that INSTEAD of ADVANCING, he can do a ranged attack. Which means, thematically, that when he destroyed the previous unit, that units bones were blasted towards the other unit which may damage them. Pretty grotesque, right? haha

    I went out and bought Battlelore 2nd Ed. after watching this, along with the undead armies. This is hands down the best 2 player miniature wargame in my collection. We always have fun playing it and we can do it in 1.5-2 hours tops... sometimes playing another game right afterward.

    Discontinued or not, this is STILL my favourite 2 player war/miniatures game.
    A crying shame that those who discovered it recently will struggle to find all the content but just the core box alone has a tonne of replayability

    I looked into getting Warhammer and/or Warmachine but soon realized that these two games are money pits, this game for the price of 1 competitive army i get a complete game. luckily i got the game for free for my Bday so im more than willing to spend a little for the expansions. this game has all the depth of the two above mentioned games, not sure why people are so insistent on saying it does not.

    I was recently gifted a copy of CNC: Napoleonics and it's too early to tell which I like more. Battlelore 2 with expansions has become more of a gamers game with multiple lore decks and units to choose from. While I like that I can get that out of an accessible and quick to play game, that style of pregame analysis is not something my family enjoys. Plus my family enjoys historical theme over fantasy :)

    their is a lot of ability too create a big market in this area, something that is very hard too do with miniature table top gaming but entering into a more board gaming area yes this is a very viable idea.

    Not that I needed an excuse to get these expansions, but after seeing the video... who can resist?

    This comment doesn't hold any weight because I've never played tabletop warhammer, but I never have because of the money pit that it is. I can't just pick an army and go, I have to own EVERYTHING! And to do that with that game would require a 5 car garage and full blown retirement or unemployment for painting purposes alone, and a wallet the size of a Bentley. Just saying, I don't even think the pros can argue with that. Having said... This game is the shit

    Hey Tom, if you had to choose: Battlelore vs D&D Attack Wing (with the new expansions that introduces ground troops)?

    Yeah, this game is a blast to play. But replace or be as good as warmachine, malifaux, or 40k....not even close Tom

    • @PhilGerb93
      @PhilGerb93 9 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      david petree It completely depends on the person though. I can see this game replacing 40k for me since it's cheaper and I can play it faster while having the same fun.

    For me this seems similar to MTG Arena that he just reviewed.

    • @wroot_lt
      @wroot_lt 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Jared Schulz Here you command an army of troops (kind of small army, but still). In MtG Arena you command one or two planeswalkers, which has two units they can summon. It is similar, but not so much. Also spells feel different in both games. I think in MtG:A they tend to mess with the opponent more often.

    I'm kinda disappointed that they are still blue and red units. I would've loved if they have made completely new factions (maybe green?). Now you kinda have to buy both new red and blue expansions or nothing at all.

    Tom if you want a dead simple game than yes this might replace a miniature war game. If you want some depth and complexity, this is no way would replace something like 40k or Warmachine - not even close. It's like comparing apples and oranges.

    • @thedicetower
      @thedicetower  9 ปีที่แล้ว +18

      Jeff Connell For you, that's fine. For me, the depth and complexity is RIGHT here. Love this game.

    • @Enriqueguiones

      The Dice Tower I would love to say "you are wrong, Tom! Warhammer armies are way cooler!!" buuuuuuuuuuut Games Workshop have decided to DESTROY the entire franchise with that disgrace "Age of Sigmar" is. So, for now, stick with Battlelore. It's a great battle game, actually (I love the first edition with all my heart, I haven't played the second one, though).

    • @DrunkitheDane
      @DrunkitheDane 9 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Jeff Connell "Dead simple game" - I´ll have to agree with Tom on this one. There is a lot of strategy and planning in this game.

    • @distrustfulmonkey2832
      @distrustfulmonkey2832 8 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      whatever works for you but personally i'll never play a GW again after trying this. It's all here, and for a tenth the price. less actually. I would say more depends on whether or not you have a collector mentality and love to paint than on the actual game itself - a proper 40k army, painted well looks amazing. Battlelore just looks good. Depth of play however is amazing, far greater than just knowing the mechanics of the system will give you any insight into. First game I played I got utterly destroyed and it was still love at first sight for the game itself. And i'm not the most gracious loser normally either....

    • @koshi6505
      @koshi6505 8 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      40k and Warmachine are a lot less strategic than a lot of Hex and Counter games out there.

      I'm thinking Trent as big unit, Dryad enchanters , Elven Archers, and Elven Ranger.
