Their debut was fairly successful but then their popularity started to decline after they were sent overseas for awhile plus a lot of fans weren't exactly thrilled with "Hello" since it was a change from their previous sound. Their last few releases prior to Produce 101 barely charted or didn't chart at all. "Hello" shot back up the charts AFTER they went on Produce 101, actually a lot of their old music shot up the charts after Produce.

Everyone seemed standoffish when Nu’est walked in. But then as the show went on, Nu’est members grew on them just like how they grew on a lot of the viewers. By the end, each of them had built quite an army of followers/adopted many sons because really, despite how Mnet tried to edit them, they’re great guys who worked hard, treated everyone as their equal, and helped many of them out.
