- The tube Kevin has hunted for high and low and thought he'd never see again is being made right here in the US! Western Electric revived production of the 300B in 1997 and, in 2017, moved to a modern facility where they produce this legendary triode.
The WE 300B is a piece of great audio history that's still utterly relevant because of its wonderful sound. Modern manufacturing practices assure tight tolerances and outstanding consistency, and all tubes are factory tested and matched by Western Electric.

Graphene is the major reason that anything that comes near it becomes magical. It improves the sound quality in audio tubes to make them sound even more incredible than they did with the original NOS 300 B.
While I can't get that excited over this video only because I know nothing about tubes, but they are interesting and having heard such things as the Prima Luna gear will raise one's interest in tubes! if I had tube gear, I'd definitely be talking with you Kevin. (If I had the money I'd go after one of the Prima Luna units, every time I hear them, it is such pleasure). I know of nobody else that knows as much about tubes as you. Kevin, you're "the tube whisperer"!
I somehow wound up at T.H.E. Show in Costa Mesa this past Saturday by invite (last minute strange thing that upended my weekend, but couldn't say no). It would have been nice to meet you, but you were obviously not there.
However,......I sincerely had the absolute honor of meeting Kat!! It was one of the highlights for me. I have great respect for her. She is rare in this hobby/industry!
I felt there was always something about her just from the videos, but then when I caught her interview on Cool Cleveland, it all clicked! She and I are on the same page! I want her opinions and ideas on selecting a new phono cart I am saving up for and now we also get to have a little chat about our experiences and such as well. We have the same approach to all this audio stuff and similar experiences. It really is about synergy, personality and most important the music is the star, the gear is merely a means to an ends. It all comes back to music.

I just bought my first PrimaLuna, a Dialogue 5 model. Straight forward amp plugged into the pre-out of my Marantz receiver. KT 88 output tubes. I'm good now. Things got a lot "heavier" after plugging that baby in with some 94 dB KLH Kendall tower speakers. Only gave $900 cash for the amp. Try one out and buy local.
IF you ever get a Primaluna, the magic combo I found is 2 PL AU7s and 2 Amperex Bugle Boy AU7s. Fantastic detail and holographic sound.
Damn…tube scores like that don’t happen often, but it’s amazing when it does. Recently found fifteen NOS 12AX7 variants for $50. RCA, Telefunken, Sylvania, Mullard. All matched pairs except for 1 stray. Couldn’t drive there fast enough…

I'd like to know what a new WE 300B would have cost in 1960 (in case I ever meet a mad scientist with a time machine). Please ask WE to try and duplicate the Russian mil-spec 6H30DR driver tubes from the 80s and 90s. Best tube I've ever heard.

Please tell me you’re going to keep the Jubilee’s in your show room for demos. As you probably know, tubes would be great with the Jubilee’s.
My amps don't use 300s. But they ARE loaded with Amperex BBs and I've got another stock for whenever they decide to go to heaven.
