Yep. There is a song called a different world and it is sung by a guy named Bucky who was on American idol a few years ago and I got to tell you for a young guy he must have questioned every grandparent in the neighborhood of how it used to be because he talked about drinking water from a garden hose and your friends came over to play you played outside families went to church on Sundays stores were closed on sundays. Trust me, that song will hit home with you

They used to play it on like a record player at our school dances. Along with Time in a Bottle, Seasons in the Sun, Sunshine on my Shoulders, Midnight at the Oasis, etc. I would religiously listen to Casey Kason every Sunday afternoon on my little transistor radio, singing right along! That brings back some great memories!! 💕

I'm just a Japanese 66 years old man. Since the end of the 2nd World war, about 12 years later, the songs of Elvis, Pat, Paul, and Ricky had landed in Japan. After 5 years from Elvis Presley, we Japanese had experienced the coming of Little Eva, J. Tillotson, Cascades, Ronettes and Lesley Gore. By the way,I am understanding the delicate relations of the stories that 「It's my party」 and 「Judy's turn to cry」 which were sung by Gore. Anyway, I've been loving Little Eva's Locomotion which includes lovely dance. But now, I must confess that I was extremely surprised to hear「 Locomotion」 of Grand Funk Railroad. Too marvelous!

Tommy Ireland Thank you for your polite comment. Detroit reminds me of Motown sound. I wasn't interested in it except Supremes before. But several months ago, at youtube, I was suddenly enchanted by a certain song and its slow groovy dance.
The title of that song is "My girl" sung by Temptations.
I live at Kawagoe city where is 20 miles from Tokyo.
And this old city makes feel the atmosphere of "Edo era" in which Samurai ruled.

Tommy Ireland I hardly knew Marvin Gaye. therefore, According to your recommendation, I've heard "what's going on" which he sang. So, I could feel a kind of emotional soul. I think he is one of great singers like Johnny Mathis.
Nowadays, I often listen to Neil Young, James Taylor,Linda Ronstadt . Above all, the LP record like 「Harvest」 always strikes my heart. I like old LP records than CDs. Well, Would you mind to enter the next words into TH-cam's frame for searching? 「AKB48」 「fortune」 「cookie」. You'll run into present Japanese hit song titled 「Fortune cookie in love」. This seems to be receiving a little the influence of the joyful innocent slow dance of 「 Little Eva 」or「Temptations」.
Please inform this to your granddaughter or other children.

Every time I see Mark, I razz him a bit about those days. But all in good fun. He's still great these days though. He hasn't lost his voice, and still puts his heart and soul into what he does best. Thanks for being a friend Mark.

I believe this is the only song to ever reach #1 by three different artists. This rock n’ roll version by GFR version came out when I was in 8th grade. The radio stations played it seemingly every hour and I couldn’t get enough of it. Still one of my all-time favorites to this day.

1974, I was a senior in high school. Saw them on this tour. Was my first concert to see. I do remember them opening this song with the locomotive on the big screen. Live at LSU in Baton Rouge. That was a show...and I'm still listening in 2019 and will continue to listen.

They are not in because of Terry Knight , he dissed everybody , never showed up for any promotions or meetings with the press and even took out a full page ad in rolling stone magazine giving everyone the finger ! M.T.V. and Rolling Stone and the Rock hall of fame is all together , .you know , the hall is really gay anyway ! I am glad the Great Grand Funk is not part of that .
