John Overstreet.... Nicely done, sir! It is so much fun to see all this flat foam come together into a great looking airplane. I have built all of the Master Series as they have come out and they keep getting better. Your techniques for molding the foam are also becoming much more refined and effective. I cannot wait to build everything in the background of this video - please keep them coming!
Three things: (1) It's great to hear someone on the FliteTest channel say "... While the glue cools", rather than "while the glue dries"! (2) Lovely to hear the wildlife in the background. (3) The Spitfire looks amazing! Well done!
YOU HAVE THE BIGGEST CRICKET ON THE PLANET WORKING IN THE BACKGROUND. I had the video playing wile I was in the kitchen cooking and had the volume up loud and thought the CRICKET was in my kitchen
Do we have to have a cricket in the background losing its mind, in order to complete this build? I'm assuming the cricket will come with the speed build kit.
Hey guys, I'm just completing the build on one of these, there were no wooden washers in my kit here in the UK FYI, not a problem got round the issue, keep up the good work 🛩👍
Great job John. Nice production value. I cant wait for all of the kits in the background to be available. You are very easy for my son and I to follow. Great instruction. Thank you and Flight Test. God bless. Carey
I just got this kit. Its my first Flite Test foam board plane. If I like it, I plan to buy some more. I hope I can do the P-38 thou not sure it would fit in the trunk of my Elantra.
Thanks a lot to the flite test community for giving out the plans for free. However, this design has some major flaws. How does one replace a servo if needed? I think planes (and anything really) should be designed and built with serviceability, maintenance and even upgreadability in mind.
Can i get to know that which and how many materials are used in crafting, can you name them all and with lengths. I also wanna create my own aircraft like this
How is the battery held in place? Didn't see any strap to hold the battery down. Was that strip of velcro that you put in supposed to be enough to hold the battery in place while doing rolls???
John, Great Video! NEWBIE QUESTION: The foam board your planes are cut from are not the typical white foam board; will you tell what that reddish-ruddy brown colored foam board is and what it is called? Thank you and SUBSCRIBED!
This model is great. very easy to follow your instructions. I love this model and the master Mustang series. I live in Vietnam. Can you help me to have these 2 model. How do I get the plans (DIY plans) of Spitfire Master Series and Mustang Master Series ?
Could you guys please upload the free plans either here or to the store?! They are nowhere to be found Looking forward to scratch building it! Very Nice looking model! Nice job John!
John you are an awesome builder, I have a thought for you, over my years of scratch building, on the tail surface before bending it to the desire shape putting clear packaging tape on the outside will keep the tail from breaking and will be able to bend the tail surface as tight as you what. Quick question when are you going to do jets!
What a pleasure to watch a craftsman with incredible skills! These form board planes are rivaling the old balsa planes from 20' away. They add so much to the RC community by making great flying and great looking planes that are very reasonable priced and MUCH quicker to build.
John impressed my 65 yr old grandpa and said he wanted the spitfire and now I'm dropping $350 on everything we need to build it and the kit and all electronics
I absolutely love this plane. Will there be plans for this spitfire like for the rest of the FT series? It would look great next to my FT-22 Raptor and FT Spear.
John, Why hasn't anyone suggested a vaccu-form clear plastic canopy for some of these Master Series models. The hardest part would be carving the form out of balsa or bass wood. The plastic could be a two liter pop bottle. You could put a pilots in the cockpit with the likeness of Josh Bixler!
I’ve just made this - though using 6mm depron. I enlarged the plans a few percent, as far as tiling would allow, and the span is 52”. Considering its size, it’s a fairly speedy build, though depron is harder to shape than foamboard. (The fuz tunnel was a bitch!!) So, three days ago I maidened it. I should add that I am a newcomer to ailerons, so this is a challenge! The first three days of attempted maiden flights didn’t go well. First, I would recommend dialling back all the flight controls to minimal throws. This crate is sensitive, so less is more. Second, pay careful attention to the thrust angle of the motor. Turns out that I was adding down-thrust every time I shoved the battery up front. So, I kept crashing immediately after launch. Fortunately, I built it with knock-off wings, and was flying over long grass, so no damage was sustained. I’ve added guide rails for the motor-pod to keep it straight, and this worked a treat. That done, and the controls minimized and expo-ed, tonight’s flight was a revelation... glorious!! Mine has got a folding prop, and I was delighted to discover that it’s a very good glider. Why don’t more people fit them, they make such a difference? Eventually, I crashed it in a tree when a I let it get too far away and lost orientation. However, I’m putting this one down as a success, and can’t wait for tomorrow when I’ll try again. I’m now thinking of a monster-sized Spitty... Well done, Flite-Test for creating such a great crate. PS. I’m now commenting a month later having logged a few more hours of aileron flying. First, the launch caught me out again (twice!). Goddam it, this is a bitch to get up… The second time snapped the fuselage in half. 🥵 However… I fixed it with tape and, with the help of a friend to launch it, she got airborne… and the wait was worth it! These Spits fly SO WELL!!! Now that I know what I’m dealing with, I’m going to build a bigger one: about 70” span. Seriously, for £20 worth of foam and paint, you can make one of the most iconic warbirds ever designed, and take it from me, once you get past the tricky launch, it will fly like the real thing. It’s freakin’ awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Is this aeroplane the best kept secret in aeromodelling???
I just built one of your spitfire. I bought it from your website. I followed along with this build video. I couldn't help but notice the one on this video seems 10-15% bigger then the kit I bought. Did you guys decide to downsize the model?
Hi John, Would you be willing to do a "how to video" on scaling up your master series Spitfire...? I would imagine that creating the radius would be slightly easier... Now there are several foam board products mention on the FT Videos... Allen Foam, and Maker Foam sheeting with the latter coming in two thicknesses. Is the Maker Foam currently available and would you suggest it's use...? You might suggest the Adtech Pro 200 is the Model Hot Glue Gun in use on your videos... it took me awhile to track down the manufacturer, and model. Thanks again, Jim Marshall
I honestly thought the construction would be a bit more difficult but I can see how this all comes together. Very nice. However if youre doing a MK9 both of those radiators need to be on the lower wing. Mk5 and lower have one as pictured, and more cylindrical intake on the other underside wing panel. And there needs to be a chin mounted intake as well. Look forward to get plans and playing with the design a little bit.
I have been watching u guys for a while now and I was wondering if it is possible to do a tutorial on 3D printed planes like the best printer to use and glue stuff like that. Thank you so much for the your excellent designs that gave me the best flight experience and the easy way to get in to the hobby.
I have a problem with the original spitfire in that the elevator will sometimes break in the middle and cause a softening of controls. Plus, the entire horizontal stabilizer bends due to the force of pulling up. Are these remedied in this design?
My real issue with this build is really battery access. Getting the battery in and out and keeping it in place. Has anyone come up with any ingenious ways of dealing with the battery access? Thanks! Otherwise I love this plane/plans!
@ Flite Test Tech…hi from 🇬🇧……wow awesome love it I’ve got to get myself one, it would be awesome to have a Hurricane and Lancaster to go with it, to do a model BBMF (Battle Of Britain Memorial Flight)…
swing wing F-14 in the background? will it have heat seaking missles too? and real jet engines? and a real HUD inside for the tiny pilot? and fly by wire controls using the original F-14 flight computer? I also want hydraulic retracts and disk brakes. ha ha
Great job ..as per usual ..however I couldn't help but notice there was no mention of a landing gear.. Will there be reference to it on the plans as with the p47?
sweet...Honestly I would like to see this Large designs also be squeezed into some smaller Sub 250 sizes....exact design, but TINY [ think Sport Cub ] ....lol ( as that may be the only way anyone will get to fly in the future )
John Overstreet.... Nicely done, sir! It is so much fun to see all this flat foam come together into a great looking airplane. I have built all of the Master Series as they have come out and they keep getting better. Your techniques for molding the foam are also becoming much more refined and effective. Came here for the Spitfire, but BY GOD THAT TOMCAT IS COOL!!! Both of my favourite fighters in one vid!
Sameee
I saw that to, it’s looks so cool and I can’t wait till they hopefully have a master series of it.
Even if I'm not actually building this plane, this video is quite entertaining to watch. ASMR.
Three things: (1) It's great to hear someone on the FliteTest channel say "... While the glue cools", rather than "while the glue dries"! (2) Lovely to hear the wildlife in the background. (3) The Spitfire looks amazing! Well done!
Yes!! The glue COOLS! (No offense Josh...)
That rubber band hatch trick is blowing my MIND - my jaw literally dropped!!! Brilliant design!
Anyone else watch any of the Flite Test Build vids just for the pure relaxation and enjoyment?
I am excited to see the Wildcat, Zero, B-17, Mustang, Bf-109, and the jets. I have already spotted F-16's, F-18's, some MiG's, and a F-35
love the crickets in the background.
YOU HAVE THE BIGGEST CRICKET ON THE PLANET WORKING IN THE BACKGROUND. I had the video playing wile I was in the kitchen cooking and had the volume up loud and thought the CRICKET was in my kitchen
That f14 better be coming out in June with top gun 2! Keep up the good work!
Agree. My eyes went right for the F14.
Well in the trailer Tom Cruise was flying F18 Hornet so I would be happy with either of them but I really want to see a modern era fighter jet!
Woohoo!! Can't wait to see these get built!!
I will be :D Love the mosquito btw saw the posts :)
I love everything Flitetest is doing for our hobby great job guys.
Do we have to have a cricket in the background losing its mind, in order to complete this build? I'm assuming the cricket will come with the speed build kit.
Good morning friend
Thanks for great sharing
Thanks for the video it's amazing, how do you stop the hot glue going off instantly
Alan
Hey guys, I'm just completing the build on one of these, there were no wooden washers in my kit here in the UK FYI, not a problem got round the issue, keep up the good work 🛩👍
Proses yang rumit...tapi hasile keren poll
YES this looks epic, my new flite test favorite
Do you guys have free build plans for this bird too or is it only for purchase?
Great job John.
Nice production value.
I cant wait for all of the kits in the background to be available.
You are very easy for my son and I to follow. Great instruction.
Thank you and Flight Test.
God bless.

Once again another fantastic gift to the RC community, great plane, info &build video from tried it at home / flite test . Now release the P51-D 😍
When are those fighter jets in the background coming out!
I just got this kit. Its my first Flite Test foam board plane. If I like it, I plan to buy some more. I hope I can do the P-38 thou not sure it would fit in the trunk of my Elantra.
Brillant!. I would really like to see someone make some retractable landing gear, maybe I'll have a go myself.
I have done exactly the same... installed retracts on this bird.
Thanks a lot to the flite test community for giving out the plans for free. However, this design has some major flaws. How does one replace a servo if needed? I think planes (and anything really) should be designed and built with serviceability, maintenance and even upgreadability in mind.

another master piece of art
Hi, Can you please send the link for the free plans? Thanks.
Did you get it?
I’m greedy I want to see a T-28 Trojan next!
Thanx for free plans!
How is the battery held in place? Didn't see any strap to hold the battery down. Was that strip of velcro that you put in supposed to be enough to hold the battery in place while doing rolls???
Thank you for the build video, well done. Loved the cricket sounds!
John, Great Video! NEWBIE QUESTION: The foam board your planes are cut from are not the typical white foam board; will you tell what that reddish-ruddy brown colored foam board is and what it is called?

9it is flight tests foam that is on their store
My favourite plane. Really really versatile and outrun the mustang BF-109 in war
Nice plane. Seems perfect for the super fast motor David put in his swappable spit for the speed challenge.
This model is great. very easy to follow your instructions. I love this model and the master Mustang series. I live in Vietnam. Can you help me to have these 2 model. How do I get the plans (DIY plans) of Spitfire Master Series and Mustang Master Series ?
A Lancaster bomber would be sick, though we're missing some German planes.
That's really cool! Have you guys ever thought of doing bombers like b24's?
Could you guys please upload the free plans either here or to the store?!
They are nowhere to be found
Looking forward to scratch building it!
Very Nice looking model! Nice job John!
You should check the flite test article on this plane. If they have not released it yet, I'm not sure what to tell you
John you are an awesome builder, I have a thought for you, over my years of scratch building, on the tail surface before bending it to the desire shape putting clear packaging tape on the outside will keep the tail from breaking and will be able to bend the tail surface as tight as you what. Are you going to do a b-17?
I see one in the background and was wondering.
Do you think I can use the DXS 7-Channel Transmitter with a AR410 4-Channel Reciever?

How did you make the airplane display stand for spitfire?..it is beautiful...please provide links for stand
Very good project!
Okay, very nice spitfire. But lets talk about that B-17 or Bf-109 in the background...
SO EXCITED FOR FREE PLANS!!
This is so good to watch. Thank you for your work. Very nice.
All the tricks in one huge rip. Excellent build.
Hi! Any chance for a link to the electronics? Please? :)
May I suggest using dowel rods, more or less rolling pins, on some of your rolling forms?
So straightforward, such clear build instructions. You make it look easy as an Old Fogey, LoL!

Where do you get the kit to build FT styrofoam to make these R/C planes and how much?
Hi John,

Great build. Is there and option for landing gear, steerable tail wheel ?
Donde consigo estos planos muchas gracias algún enlace directo

in the back at the start i think is an su-30 could you possibly release the build plans for it please?
If we want to build this how much thickness did we buy for the foam board?
I have a problem with the original spitfire in that the elevator will sometimes break in the middle and cause a softening of controls. Plus, the entire horizontal stabilizer bends due to the force of pulling up. Are these remedied in this design?
What are those jets in the background?
che materiale sta usando per la costruzione?
Where can I buy the parts and remote
Any chance you guys can run through set up with the FrSky RX4R 2.4GHz Receiver and the FrSky S6R receivers with lipo batt sensor????
how thick are you using the material?
Which material do u use to make planes
My real issue with this build is really battery access. Getting the battery in and out and keeping it in place. Has anyone come up with any ingenious ways of dealing with the battery access? Thanks! Otherwise I love this plane/plans!
Hello my name is Alessandro, I wanted to ask you what is the name of the material you use and if it can be found in Italy
thank you very much
some kind of foam
water resistant foam being more specific
Any websites in UK I can buy this kit, please?
what if you decide to scrap build, and dont have the wooden spars?
A really good build video with some great tips along the way.
@ Flite Test Tech…hi from 🇬🇧……wow awesome love it I’ve got to get myself one, it would be awesome to have a Hurricane and Lancaster to go with it, to do a model BBMF (Battle Of Britain Memorial Flight)…
Like Luke David said for a f14, why can’t you add some guns onto the plane? It might unbalance the plane but you could try it to see if it would work.
At what point do you make the plane blue and just cover it in tape
What is the dry weight and all up weight?
What is the AUW weight? And weight without battery?
Awesome cant wait to get my kit
I was waiting for it! Thanks!
When I download free plans what do I use for the curved wood spars?!? Thanks for design!
Probably some light plywood, a template, a small saw and a lot of patience.
Where did you download the free plans?

Beautiful work ,John.Love the sound of the crickets, sound like the crickets in Australia.lol
We have an on going war with the crickets lol
The reason I said they sound like Australian is I had it on the TV surround sound and I thought one was in the house. Lol
thats hilarious
In the kit are the pieces pre cut
Was that a FT Zero?? When are we getting that!! 😭
swing wing F-14 in the background? will it have heat seaking missles too? and real jet engines? and a real HUD inside for the tiny pilot? and fly by wire controls using the original F-14 flight computer? I also want hydraulic retracts and disk brakes. ha ha

I think some people on the Forums may have made it.
Very nice plane. I don't see a P-40 warhalk in the background. The P-40 is a iconic model that should be considered in my opinion.
Hello sir I would like to make spitfire but I need templates so will you send it please
How can they even do that 2D design from 3D plane
sweet...Honestly I would like to see this Large designs also be squeezed into some smaller Sub 250 sizes....exact design, but TINY [ think Sport Cub ] ....lol ( as that may be the only way anyone will get to fly in the future )
