In my mind, this is more about emphasis on special teams. In the past, what seems like forever, there was a special teams coordinator, or at the very least an on-field coach designated to it. Having it overseen by an assistant? It’s not just about the kicks, it’s about the sloppy penalties, and deemphasis of this facet of the game as an opportunity for gaining an advantage over your opponent.
That’s a lot of explaining away of a disastrous season of special team performances! At some point, doesn’t it fall on the coach? Sorta scary to me that TB wasn’t shown the door by HF. Leadership matters.
Maybe I’m wrong but surely analytics say fair catch a kickoff vs the risk of running the ball back on kick offs and risk penalties, injuries and turnovers. For Auburn, many times it just meant a struggling offense starts on the 10 or 12 rather than the 25. Happened way too many times.
Did Kyle say “shake up” and recruiting in the same sentence? NO! DO NOT shake up the recruiting staff. It would appear THAT is one thing we can say IS working.
Hallelujah! Say what you want about the coach not having an effect on special teams. It's not about just FG kicking, or shanked punts, or holding/blocking in the back on returns or letting a backup fumble a punt on the only play that could allow Alabama to win the Iron Bowl. Good luck to him, but thank the lord he is gone. Figured Kyle would be an apologist as he is usually the opposite of my thinking.
@@TheWarRapport Really? If he isn't back there to field the punt how can he fumble, other than you letting him on the field to have the chance...at least he's gone now and we don't have to argue about his incompetence.
Worst field goal percentage (not his fault, but still)…returning kick offs out of the end zone to the 18 way too often not to mention the penalties on kick returns…the penalty on Faulk jumping the line vs. Vandy sealing that loss was, imo, a matter of poor coaching…nothing remotely exciting on special teams, no wrinkles, nothing…but mainly undisciplined penalties and poor decisions by returners… Special teams were flat out atrocious and cost us AT LEAST one game by being uniformly terrible across the board..
Good for Tanner!! He did something Hugh didn’t have the guts to do and that’s FORCE him to leave!!! Good ole Charlie always trying to cover up the obvious with unicorns and rainbows…He was a TERRIBLE position coach!!!
No! It’s more than that about Tanner Burns. Did we forget last season when they kept sticking players back to field kicks and it turned into a disaster. And how multiple penalties at kickoff. Yes, glad he’s gone
It's about time they get rid of these coaches. Hopefully freeze will stop calling plays. He's the worst playcaller ever. Dumb decisions are his fault. Maybe we'll get some clowns who think football is played with a rubber foot. I have no hope for auburn right now. Failure after failure. Maybe freeze is the problem. Maybe all of them are. Definitely needed to make some changes. More development needs to happen with players to make them better.
Are you Austin, Texas???😂 Such bitterness and negativity!! You would be a much better human if you could manage to at least say a FEW POSITIVE THINGS!!!

I think some things do fall on the coach, and others don't.
Blaming him for it all seems a bit heavy-handed.

"Letting" him fumble is so odd to say. 😆

I'm never going to argue. Just going to comment on your statements.
It's an odd statement.
@@TheWarRapport fair enough. I change my statement to "giving him the opportunity to fumble" when that is the only way for Bama to win.
Every player in a game has an opportunity to. Blaming the coach for a player fumbling is an odd thing.
Blame the player.

This is the guy that was just given additional responsibility?
I’d just limestones them improve as the season progresses!
Please leave. He sucks as Special Teams coach. Auburn really needs some turnover on the offensive staff side.
Worst Special Teams in a loooooong time

I thought Mike G has some kind of exotic animal mounted behind him on the wall LOL
Hire Grubb as OC Freeze please!

Will you please change teams? Maybe take that toxic attitude to the University of Alabama!
