Nice work my friend. The best of all I viewed. The painting is excellent. I am building the same model that I bought 15 years ago, a few years before I retired (after 40 years with GE). It is a Tamiya model. The details are not as detailed as your model. My work will not be as excellent as yours but I am enjoying the build. I am going to build my own display case. Lexan Case, Cherry base with a bronze plaque. Expensive but protects the model and has a great presentation. Plus I have to keep my wife happy. The model is 37 inches long. Lots of work so I must protect it. The reason I picked the CVN 65 is that I was the Senior Quality Staff engineer at General Electric for the four turbines and four gearboxes. Actually was in communication with the Captain one time because he wanted a part expidited quickly. I had to approve the part he wanted. The Navy actually sent a helicopter to the plant to pick the part up. Long story. I read that the Enterprize was sent to scrap this past December 2023. The Navy will be cutting it up themselves. Couldn't believe it. Gosh, the news really makes me feel old..
I have built this kit for my nephew who served a board her. You have done an outstanding job with the aircraft. I know how much work they can be. Thanks for sharing
I forgot to add that I worked on the refurbished turbines and gearboxes on the CVN65. Westinghouse made the first set. Plus I worked 10 more years after retiring. Just incase some wiseguys doubted my story. Again nice work on your model.
Great update, looking really good with all the planes! Keep it going! For a display case, I've been looking at buying a big fish tank, not cheap but certainly big enough...
+James Jacob Thanks James. Yes a fish tank could be an idea, although with all the potential earthquakes around here I'd look for a sturdy plastic one.
