'Men explain things to me' is one of the most impactful books I've ever come across. Especially as a guy, who grew up in a society with engrained misogyny, the sheer realisation of how our day-to-day interactions and functioning is impacted by our biases was heartbreaking.
I wish I came across these books earlier.

This is so relatable Vaani, I too like dressing up and makeup but then I question myself am I doing all these because society expects me to be like that as a girl?
Or maybe I just like it because that's how women are supposed to be, judged on how we look or dress. Does that make me a bad feminist?

Hey, unfortunately in today’s times we have this need to label people -> religious or not, feminist or not, right leaning or left? But as I see it, it’s more of a balance, and it’s perfectly okay to like and dislike characteristics of either category! I prefer to not place a hard label on myself. It’s nice to take all perspectives into consideration, then filter out the noise, filter out what doesn’t align with your core, filter out what doesn’t bring you joy! Those are your choices and values, whether they fall under the feminist or non-feminist or any other category, as long as your choices don’t contribute heavily to a regressive society, especially women who are still fighting for their place. So if dressing up makes you happy, do it :)

Being a student of PSIR, I studied feminism for an entire semester- books by Chimamanda Adichie, Simon De Beauvoir, Margaret Mead and several other classic feminist authors. I love how they see feminism. It's their perspective that makes "feminism" beautiful.
I look forward to read these books too. Thank you, Vaani.
