I really feel bad for Raiden. He only wanted the best for Earthrealm and the best for Liu Kang and Kung Lao, only for them to be killed and for the elder gods to betray him. He was always the one taking the hit for everything and not even getting a thank you for all that he sacrificed.
Liu kang can’t catch a break can he. Killed in the og timeline by shang Tsung only to become a zombie and now in the new timeline to be killed by raiden and being resurrected by quan chi to become a revannent
When liu kang becomes fire god, i was overjoyed.. finally my boi has fulfilled his destiny and finally the game gives him the right treatment as the main character
I dont understand this at all. Why the fuck does kang need to be the main character all the time? He was the MC in MK 1-4, and Co-MC with Raiden in 9 and 11. He is literally the main character for a given game more often than the next two characters combined

Who would have thought, that Mortal Kombat of all games would make you feel emotional. That ending was brilliant, and the amount of suffering Raiden went through from the previous games finally paid off. I feel like Raiden is probably the one who evolved the most from MK9 to 11 IMO.

I liked this approach, but instead of just Jax, Scorpion and Sub-Zero, I wish Nightwolf and Liu Kang are also revived. Although the Cage family taking the spotlight is far believable than Liu Kang playing the superhero all the time, Liu Kang should have returned to the good side.
Liu Kang always dies at the hands of Raiden and returns from the dead as a revenant which is Raiden and Quan Chi's fault tbh, Raiden 4 killing him and Quan Chi 4 resurrecting and converting him into a revenant at the same time corrupting him.
In mk11 Liu kang thought he wanted the glory and cuttting him down (even tho that’s not true) And the shaolin monks did raiden wanted them to die I know he felt srry for liu kang but Kung Lao

I had always wondered, if Liu Kang's corpse was taken by Raiden's village (after the very pecora fight between them), and not Quan Chi to turn him, then how is he a revenant in MKX?
Also to note that it was Kronika’s plan to have Raiden and Liu Kang always fight against each other in each timeline because she feared their combined power and she perceived it to be a threat to her vision of the timeline. In each timeline, Liu Kang dies, the new timeline is an example of that
While one would think it simpler to just corrupt the body into a revenant, Quan Chi mainly works with the soul. MKX helps cement this when you witness the explanation for Scorpion being that he existed from Hasashi's own soul, and not the body. If anything Quan Chi is able to animate a soul into a more corporeal form(see Nightwolf in Aftermath when Shang drains the revenant to restore himself and it still leaves a physical vessel) and since it's not flesh and blood, it's a tireless and unrelenting fighter.
You dont necessarily need the body to make a revenant. If you did, human revenant sub-zero wouldn't be possible since he was cyberized. And in mkx we see quan chi making a johnny cage revenant, and they are 2 separate bodies. Same thing with Sindel and Nightwolf, their bodies were destroyed, yet they show up as revenants. Seems like all you need is the soul.
Liu Kang's crush Kitana and other warriors die after Raiden and him go visit the elder gods. Liu Kang thinks they left them to die. So that's why Liu Kang kinda hates raiden. Once Shao Kahn enters EarthRealm, Liu Kang thinks defeating him is the right choice but raiden knows how to beat Shao Kahn. Liu Kang disagrees and tries to kill raiden. Raiden defends himself and kills Liu Kang. Quan Chi finds Liu Kang's body and uses it to create a evil version of Liu Kang making him a Revenant.
First he became shang tsung's zombie.... Then he became quan Chi's revenant puppet.... Yet he is trying his best to defend earthrealm. Truly he deserves the godhood... Respect

Revenant Liu Kang is what happens when Liu Kang loses his mind and allows the glory he gets as a Mortal Kombat champion to go all over his head. In other words, if he embraced Shang Tsung's philosophy.

He never boasted about being champion and was always humble.what he didn’t like was raiders multiple decisions that caused carastrophy after another throughout the story.
Liu kangs boasting as a champion is understandable since in the reboot he's a more of a human character compared to the older games. Also quan chis magics bring out the worst in anyone revived by him i guess.

The revenants are what their past selves could have been had they embraced the Netherrealm taint to the point it dominated their minds: -Liu Kang: If Liu Kang allowed the fame and glory he gets as Champion to go all over his head and rule his decision making. -Kitana: If Kitana decided to act like Mileena and be Shao Kahn's perfect daughter. -Sub-Zero: If Kuai Liang was actually cold-blooded, in other words, if he acted more like Bi-Han. -Jade: If Jade decided to be Shao Kahn's perfect assassin. -Kung Lao: If Kung Lao allowed his insecurities to poison his mind.
You have to give them credit. It was a hella ballsy move, making one of the three faces of the franchise an outright bad guy for multiple titles. Though ballsy for the sake of ballsy can lead you screwed up places. Exhibit A, which I will never get over, Sindel, a tier 3 jobber at best, wrecking 3/4 of the protagonists in one scene without so much as visible effort. God what a ludacris moment.

Sindel has been upgraded into a top tier character on the same power level of Gods. I guess Out world needed their own god level character or something, though I think they have enough variety already.

Nether realm really made the right choice in putting great effort into making MK11 look as realistic as it does. MK11 feels like watching a movie whereas this game, at least as far as graphics go, feels like a low budget parody

I feel even worse for Kung Lao. In the OG Timeline, he was more respected rather than being Liu Kang’s shadow. In the New Timeline, Raiden basically misguided him into fighting in the Outworld Tournament hence listening to Raiden was Lao’s untimely death.

Kung Lao just not getting the respect he deserved for beating both Goro and Kintaro in a 1v1, then Shang Tsung and Quan Chi in a 1v2, only to get his neck snapped and treated like he was second fiddle to Liu Kang for all eternity. Even when Liu Kang recreates the timeline, he doesn't even respect modern Kung Lao, nah, he goes to the original Kung Lao (Who DIED to Goro) instead. Hat-master Lao surpassed his original incarnation ten times over and his ultimate fate was just to be a nearly mute revenant.

They call his story tragic because he is suppose to be the “Chosen One” and he kept getting screwed over throughout the games. It wasn’t until this game finally came and gave Liu Kang the proper closure of being the “Chosen One”. I don’t remember which game but there is a small story where Liu Kang battles Raiden to become the new Protector of Earthrealm and he becomes the Fire God there (but the game leaves him as his normal self).

You have to give them credit. It was a hella ballsy move, making one of the three faces of the franchise an outright bad guy for multiple titles.
Though ballsy for the sake of ballsy can lead you screwed up places. Exhibit A, which I will never get over, Sindel, a tier 3 jobber at best, wrecking 3/4 of the protagonists in one scene without so much as visible effort. God what a ludacris moment.

Sindel has been upgraded into a top tier character on the same power level of Gods. I guess Out world needed their own god level character or something, though I think they have enough variety already.

Nether realm really made the right choice in putting great effort into making MK11 look as realistic as it does. MK11 feels like watching a movie whereas this game, at least as far as graphics go, feels like a low budget parody

I feel even worse for Kung Lao. In the OG Timeline, he was more respected rather than being Liu Kang’s shadow. In the New Timeline, Raiden basically misguided him into fighting in the Outworld Tournament hence listening to Raiden was Lao’s untimely death.

Kung Lao just not getting the respect he deserved for beating both Goro and Kintaro in a 1v1, then Shang Tsung and Quan Chi in a 1v2, only to get his neck snapped and treated like he was second fiddle to Liu Kang for all eternity. Even when Liu Kang recreates the timeline, he doesn't even respect modern Kung Lao, nah, he goes to the original Kung Lao (Who DIED to Goro) instead. Hat-master Lao surpassed his original incarnation ten times over and his ultimate fate was just to be a nearly mute revenant.

They call his story tragic because he is suppose to be the “Chosen One” and he kept getting screwed over throughout the games. It wasn’t until this game finally came and gave Liu Kang the proper closure of being the “Chosen One”. I don’t remember which game but there is a small story where Liu Kang battles Raiden to become the new Protector of Earthrealm and he becomes the Fire God there (but the game leaves him as his normal self).
