"When a metric becomes the objective, it stops being a good metric" and SEO is exactly that. Instead of getting the best match for your search result you get whatever garbage has the highest SEO score. It was always terrible but with AI spamming it sure hit a whole new low. And no there won't be any improvements on the matter because you can't automatically detect if something is made by AI or not. Best case scenario, you get a whitelist system where the search rank boils down to whoever gives Google the most money.

I don't know if there's a name for it, maybe something like the optimization trap, but copyright law functions in response to it.
Imagine if we could quantify exactly at what point something is copyright infringement according to some measurement of music or imagery, everyone would optimize for creating derivative work that lies just before that line.
This is why companies sometimes don't like to share their moderation policies, etc.
Meanwhile it's frustrating for those on the other side, because you never know exactly when you are crossing the line. It's a catch-22.

Yeah, same here. I'm using Google way less now. YT has been my go to for answers to stuff since a bot can't pass for a human (yet).

I do less and less new online searching lately and rely more on sites and links I've found in the past. When searching now, I have to scroll through so many useless results... Not sure what kind of long term solutions might solve these kinds of issues... Maybe adding a cost? Some kind of verification system? Though that would probably only work well for results that are useful in the long-term, rather than up to date. Cached search results that are updated less often but fine tuned, and then you could switch to a live search after finding a site you wish to search. Hm... on a tangent anyway, I miss the days of limited algorithm youtube xD Too often do I just loop with the recommendations...

Cost might be one way. Google recently added a feature for Gmail where a user can pay for a verification badge to the tune of about 1.5k per year. They might do something similar for domains to cut out some of the SEO blog spammers. They might also have a system that keeps track of content a person posts on a site. If they have a long term history of making authentic content, then they get preference to be higher in the search rankings. If they were caught with AI generated content, then they get their website deranked either short term or permanently.

The thing that makes me laugh at the laziness when it comes to AI generated video they don't even use a unique voice they all use the default 11 labs voice

Google wrote their very own browser Hijacker and called it AI. Search anything term, I bet the first 20 pages will have nothing to do with what you queried. Has been this way overtly for about a year.

"We're having a conversation about how we don't need artists." Sure you don't that's why everyone flocked to AI that can't even draw hands properly and is eating itself.

Let's create a telephone game using chat, GPT with the following:
Absolutely brilliant video that masterfully highlights the concerning trend of AI-generated shovelware content flooding Google search results with low-quality fluff. The video delves deep into how this phenomenon not only clutters the digital information landscape but also undermines the efforts of genuine content creators striving for quality and value. It strikes a perfect balance by critically examining the technological advancements enabling this trend and the resulting SEO challenges, where meaningful content is lost beneath a sea of artificial filler. The presentation's clarity, coupled with a nuanced discussion on the implications for users and the digital content ecosystem, is both insightful and alarming. Moreover, the call to action for discernment and critical thinking in consuming online content is timely and crucial. The video's engaging production and use of clear examples make complex concepts accessible, serving as a wake-up call to advocate for a digital future that prioritizes quality and authenticity over sheer volume. A commendable effort that sparks essential conversation about the quality, integrity, and future of digital content.

i dont understand whats your problem or whats wrong with writing ai generated article.
of course whole world is just one knowledge place and nobody has got anything original in a sense that
he is the only one to know something, like he is a scientist and writing a proof paper adding few lines of knowledge, building upon whats already been done. that could be a new thing to add to the current knowledge of humanity.
you learn from people around you thats how the world works. all the education system is learning from other people, other than few new discoveries and sentences to express discoveries, all the knowledge is the same. i know what is bothering you. you dont want to see whole knowledge available till today as humanity asset. tell me the whole video you made is not something which millions of people already know.
you are advocating for devil. the consumer society and knowledge business. today one computer is enough for whole humanity knowledge to be stored. yet you and everybody keep inventing the wheel, so that those who control the economies and the world, the materialistic satanic powers keep us slave. i agree with your spamming part. but expressing same thing in your words or writing a program to express same thing with different vocabulary, language, wording should be appreciated.

and for the part why the search has become total garbish, its google and capitalist consumer economy the greed for money, the seo targeting and ranking of websites control over information. dont you remember good old days of internet, when you search for a term and all organic results will come up from all over the world and thousands of websites. its the problem with google money making machine, which wanted to capitalize on search results and consumer information. making a search business. search engine can be an opensource charity driven project like Wikipedia, just few servers and massive storage is needed. even a single software engineer can build in few hours, a public dns record retriever and a website crawler to index. giving results according to matched words percentage wise from 100 to 0. huh . nobody would have republished same stuff without real need.

the problem is that the ai generated articles don't actually do any fact checking, and ai is capable of lying.

I appreciate your perspective on the interconnected nature of knowledge and the continuous building upon existing information. It's true that much of what we learn comes from the collective understanding developed over time, and education itself relies on the transmission of knowledge from one generation to the next.
I can understand your frustration with the duplication of knowledge and the seeming redundancy in creating new content. Indeed, the advancement of technology has allowed for the consolidation of vast amounts of information in a single device. However, the process of expressing ideas in different ways, using varied vocabulary and language, contributes to the richness and diversity of human communication.
While I may not share the same concerns about the materialistic aspects you mentioned, I do acknowledge the importance of promoting original thought and critical thinking. It's essential to strike a balance between appreciating the existing wealth of knowledge and encouraging innovation to address the evolving needs of society. Thank you for sharing your thoughts on this matter.

The problem, you absolute clown, is that half of ai generated articles is GARBAGE. Made by SCAMMERS that are SPAMMED over and over. It's such a simple concept. I want to read something made by someone not something that hallucinates random trash half the time. Are you a scammer? What a dumb response.
