Your country misses you, Ronald Wilson Reagan...Rest well, Mr. President. Thank you for your service to your country (R.I.P.).
...now THAT was a President...
+MarkSamuelson I wonder how todays would would be different if Ronald Reagan was allowed to have a 3rd term as president ? ? ?
I was 7 years old when Reagan became President. Never really knew why he was so popular. But looking back on this, I can see and understand why now. We need somebody like Reagan now in the GOP.
RIP to Ronald Reagan. The final great US president.
god rest your soul President Reagan. Thank you for your greatness.
I am here tonight watching President Reagan give his State of the Union address rather than watching Obama give his. I miss President Reagan.
Mr. President, where are you when we need you? You are missed, desperately. God bless your memory.
These were great times!
I find it interesting that the GOP is accused of not caring about the working class and only catering to business owners and wallstreet brokers, yet in every speech Regan talks about the economy, he talks about his plans to help everyone across the economic spectrum, not one particular part of it.
Talking and doing, we found out, were two separate things.
Like I said before he was a HELL OF A LOT better than the inept Jimmy Carter
He was an actor...
But he was better than Jimmy Carter
Thank you for uploading this. It's refreshing to see this - an actual president who upholds the constitution and the nation's beliefs instead of trying to turn it into a socialist paradise. I very much loved Reagan's stance on the unions too. We need someone with a spine now...
I'll watch this one instead...
Obama needs to listen to this speech
How I miss this man. It's an honor to address him as Mr. President. He honored the Office and lent it great prestige and dignity.
If we have another Reagan.
The effects of reaganomics still lives today, and its about to hit its peak this year.
My god, this is the State of the Union speech for January 2012 ....
What a great man Reagan was... I pray I bare witness to another president in office that is half the man Reagan was. He was a great leader!
please hold your applauds until the end. thats what makes these things 2 or 3 hours long
this was not a state of the union speech. do not call it that.
The last President with real soloutions to the country's problems... all since him have failed
Look up Calvin Coolidge.
@joseehan I was alive but wasn't yet one when this aired--not old enough to care. was in upper elementary school before he left white house.
Could anyone tell me the time in the video when he mentions his intention to name a woman to the supreme court?
Ironic, the part about the debt. Reagan was an awful budgeter
Sounds like he had everything right except the tax cuts. The debt increased by 230% under his admin: ~1 trillion to 2.3 trillion. If he didn't love tax cuts so much he may have set the country on the right path.
President Obama should listen to this he might just learn something !
Reagan is the ONLY President who told the truth on spending cuts. "We are cutting only the rate of increase". Obama does the same thing but makes it sound like he is cutting the debt. Back at this time we had one Trillion debt. It boggles the mind that our leaders have created the debt we have today. Should leaders make things worse?
@Billboardmister36 Amen to that.
George Bush looks so young here....
Sigh...Barry, stop hacking into Ron's TH-cam account and get back to giving us Americans a reason to fight for our Nation.
High interest rates are a sign that there isn't enough savings.
Eliminate most regulations so $$ can be made and many jobs created which was the direct result jobs and $$$ were made, which lasted all the to the mid 2000 until greed took over, and the man admin in charge wasn't able to see this and make adjustments. Romney may be the closest we'll get to having another Reagan, but yes there can never be another.
+Frankie Bee Lol Romney may be the closest we'll have to another Reagan? Establishment Republican does not equal Conservative. Not even close. Maybe a real conservative that upholds the Constitution like Cruz can use Reaganesque leadership to fix the mess we're in now
Or January 27, 2010.
@tttfrenetic Haha, well you could say that Obama looks back and forth so much (from reading teleprompters) that you could put rap or hip hop in the background and it would look like he is jamming to it.
Brian G you are joking, right? We're really cutting those taxes right now xD
A true American
Heh. Not NEARLY as bored as Joe Biden looked in OBAMA's first SOTU speech....
I seem to remember Clinton succeeding spectacularly.
@trafficlight9199 You are confusing greed and criminal behavior with individualism. Government isnt the answer. And if FDR was never born, would we still have a welfare state?
not by a long shot
What does "promoted reduction of poverty via Trickle-Down Economics" even mean?
A president shouldn't "promote the reduction of poverty", he enact policy that ACTUALLY does reduce poverty. The fact is, the poor got poorer under Reagan, and the rich got infinitely richer. Not to mention, the middle-class even shrank. The only people Reagan's policies helped were those who were already well-off. Oh yeah, and crime way up. There is no such thing as "trickle-down", that shit is make believe.
