    Hi!
    Do you have any information about dance performed by women? I know you have bellydancers, but what about folklore? Is khaleegy a part of the Qatari culture too? I'm grateful for any tips :)

    • @iloveqatar
      @iloveqatar  6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      khaleeji means from the gulf, so Qataris are Khaleejis, Khaleejis are Arab. If you watch channels that have khaliji music in it, usually you can see the hair dance and the hand movements.

    • @StudioOrient
      @StudioOrient 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you so much for your reply. I know there are different versions of khaleegi so I wanted to be sure, as many dancers will refer to different styles of khaleegi. Probably because the iraqi kawlaya oftes is labeled as khaleegi. Again, thank you very much :)

      La, habibty...
      Though the traditional music and dance in Khallijiya is the same, yet, it varies from place to place, depending on region and location and country.... Sometimes, even depending on the tribe...
      Anyway... In general, in the Khalleggee weddings the music is basically mainly "Sheyllat".
      The best ones (in my personal opinion and personal taste, I mean..., my favourite ones) are the Saoudi 🇸🇦 and Kuwaiti (Kuwaiti 🇰🇼 ones are kinda special and different because it's like a mix of Saoudi and Iraqi 🇮🇶) 😁
      So cool 😎
      Try to hear it right here in the TH-cam.
      You can go directly to my channel and you'll find it everywhere, because, the same way, me too, I only hear mainly Khalleggee music, basically... 🎼 🎶 🎵
      Lol 😅
      Enjoy it!
      Ruuuhhhh 💃 🕺

      Jane Doe I'm not Aisha, but I can answer your question. My family pressured me to wear it, even though I didn't want to. But some choose to wear it, so good for them.

    • @NewComments
      @NewComments 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Jane Doe It's social pressure.

    • @jasonbourne5049
      @jasonbourne5049 7 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Not necessarily social pressure. When you're young, you do not understand the reasons for being asked to cover up. But as you get older, you learn and understand the reasons behind it, and there are several women who willingly make the choice to wear a Hijab. Thanks!

    • @iloveqatar
      @iloveqatar  7 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      Herp Deeper you can't speak for everyone. Everybody is different, has different family dynamics, different level of caring of what society thinks, etc...
      Let Aisha answer herself.

    • @iloveqatar

      Jane Doe Wearing the Abaya and Hijab was a choice I made for myself. I sometimes go out without the abaya, but I prefer to wear it because I like how it gives me a sense of identity. I like to be representing Qatari women in the best way I could ☺

      Yeah! 👍
      It's possible, but, even though, even is possible, yet, it's not "regularly common" and embraced because of personal/social choice and, especially, family Interests ‼️ 👈
      So, basically, Nop! 👎
      Most of Qatari 🇶🇦 women don't marry foreigners or non - Qatari men.
      🙂
      I hope you understand it, InshAllah!! 🙏 🙇‍♀️

    Just curious about national dress:
    1. Why do millennials continue to wear national dress and abaya pretty much everywhere? I understand it is comfortable and everything but do Qataris do it to stand out from locals? I have seen engineers, doctors wear it and appears pretty weird to wear what seems to be, a costume in a professional setting. South Asians for instance don't wear their national dress/Salwar Kameez and wear a white coat on top of that.
    2. Why is the national dress unform? 90% of men wear a white thobe be it in college, or work or at weddings. Same for women. Why don't you embroider it or use different colors or designs? It seems like a uniform for the whole country/GCC.
    Questions stem out of my curiosity as a south asian. We too have a national dress, but other than politicians no one wears it professional settings. Does it stem from an insecurity about the small population's culture being over shadowed by non-nationals?

    • @iloveqatar
      @iloveqatar  7 ปีที่แล้ว +15

      Ninja in Qatar what seems like a special dress is normal to us. There are Qataris that wear thobes, Qataris that don't, Qataris that mix it up (like me). But a foreigner might assume that I'm not a Qatari because I'm not in a thobe.
      I am pretty sure hardly anyone wears an abaya or a thobe due to an insecurity. It's comfortable and part of our life style.
      Thobes are also not exclusive to Qatar. Many middle eastern countries wear thobes or something similar like a Jalabiya.
      Finally in regards to colors. We do wear colors. They aren't flashy. We have episodes of QTips on it.
      We wear neutral colors. Beige, white, super white, light yellow, brown, blue, black, etc... white is most common because it's also the color that best reflects heat.
      Also in our culture it's the details that matter. The type of buttons, the type of fabric, the collar shape, the accessories you wear like pens and watches.
      In Saudi and Bahrain embroidery on collars is becoming more common. It's a fashion trend and trends don't happen over night.

    • @totzoz
      @totzoz ปีที่แล้ว

      Regarding work attire, here in gulf countries the Thobe with Ghutra and 'Eqal is like a tux to most other countries. The appropriate and formal thing to wear for local men at work is a thobe, it's not considered a "costume" or a traditional dress (it is the national dress but I doubt people used to wear this back in the old old times😂 the white thobe with a formal shirt look we know today is a modernized version), it's considered preppy and formal (suits are acceptable too, but the most common/expected by default work dress for locals is the thobe).
      Besides that, it can be dressed up or down depending on the place and the environment, so for example most middle and high school students here in Saudi arabia wear a thobe in a casual style at school, which means they don't wear ghutra or were ghutra in a causal style, no fancy buttons, no cufflinks, etc.... (unless there's a celebration or it's a formal or special day of course.. and it depends on the personality of the student too).
      Hope that helped!

      I've been a victim of same.
      I was under a spell for over 20 years. I was told that the spell was meant to end me.
      But as the almighty would have it, I ended the spell.
      All thanks to God and his powerful prophet.

      He has broke so many free from the power of spells(which includes myself), he has restored so many broken marriages, helped so many get back their spouses, he has cure so many people fro different kinds of disease, helped people stop masturbation etc.
