Making a Chameleon out of SCRAP METAL - Day 6

I only have until the 20th to build a chameleon out of scrap metal and recycled electronics, and I want to take you guys along for the journey with me. I'm still working on the head, (and having the usual trouble with the welding). Let me know what you guys think of this one so that I can make improvements to the upcoming ones! It’s one of those things that I keep meaning to do, but there’s always a bigger pressing issue so I never get round to it! But you’ve motivated me to go send some pitches now haha

Trying to weld aluminum (the heat sink) to steel won't work, you need a bimetallic insert to put between the two.

This is why I need people like you watching! Thanks for the tip, I’ve never had any teaching so I stumble through quite a lot

@@zakmiskrycreations It's also why you couldn't solder the brass to the steel. You might look into the different type of fluxes and solder alloys. You also need to thoroughly sand the places you're going to place the weld, you need a really clean surface for a good, solid weld.

Sorry if you get asked this a lot, but where do you source your scrap metal/ e-waste?

No problem! Scrap metal I mainly get from just finding parts out and about, but I get the bulk of my materials from talking apart old electronic devices. Some of these come from companies donating me old equipment, but most comes from friends/family giving me stuff whenever it breaks!
