The show actually came up with a good reason for her not wanting Cat to know: her boss firing her from a job she really loves and values because she feels it's unfair to tie Supergirl to a position that keeps her away from saving people, which is let's be honest a valid point. But Kara knows her emotional well-being depends upon it, and losing THAT would be worse for her, and therefore National City.

I know Batman is a rich superhero but he got rich by being Bruce Wayne. In fact, being rich actually helped him become Batman. Those devices he makes and uses, the required parts/resources for them don't come cheap. Besides, he too has to keep working as CEO of Wayne Enterprises to keep the family business going as it's the biggest help to Gotham City's economy.

She does not need to eat as the sun rays provide her with all energy she needs She only eats because she is accustomed to Earth culture. She does get sick, smell, have bad breath, need to sleep or feel the cold due to her Kryptonian heritage. The only reason she had an identity because being supergirl all the time is a lonely life.
I love how this STILL didnt stop Cat from knowing Kara and Supergirl were the same person. She played along perfectly. She knew Kara wasnt going to tell her, so she decided to keep the charade of her not knowing up for Kara's benefit
@JN this is why I dislike how they handled Lena after this season. They gave Cat the ability to not change her personality/character even though she knew. Lena, they basically used the excuse, "she was lied to her whole life" as an excuse as to WHY she acted the way she did. Even though she understood that Kara not telling her was for her own safety. Hell, she even tried to justify using kryptonite on Kara. Something that Alex shouldve put a bullet in her for It's why Smallville & Black Lightning will forever be superior in characters learning the superhero secret. None of the side characters EVER acted the way Lena did.
@JN I am thinking from her point of view, however, her point of view stops happening when instead of confronting Kara, she did EXACTLY what Kara did. (Although, I still think the writers fucked up by making the smartest woman in the world, not realize her best friend is Supergirl)
She could tell James instantly as guardian, and later after this one of the few scenes left of Cat she whispers something to herself cheering on Supergirl and wording it very much personally like it was Kara. Kat also grew to love Kara which some ppl in here may not know. She wanted Kara to date her son and even when Kara broke it off Cat wasnt personally upset aside from the fact that Kara wouldnt be her possible daughter and respected that Kara chose work over Adam like herself.
Cat co scenes are possibly my favorite of the show. Flash and Arrow are actually subpar to supergirl if you actually give the show a chance. I love all superhero stuff but I cant say Flash and Arrow are good when they follow the same formula/pattern for every episode/season. Weak bad guy shows up at the start of the episode and 1 shots Barry and Oliver which shouldnt be a thing at all. Then comes the motivational speech where they get a DBZ power up. Supergirl also doesnt just shove the whole plot of the season in the last 2 episodes like Flash and Arrow. Also most of the drama on Arrow and Flash are lame
This show is really getting better and better. I'm, not just talking acting and story here. Remember how everyone complained about bad CGI early on? Well, that full body shot of Hank's double transformation must have been tons of work and looked real nice. The soundtrack is also getting real good.

I actually like Supergirl in it's early season, it was groundbreaking but it was innocent and fun. It didn't feel like it had a political agenda like later seasons that became so... trivial.
I've been thinking this for a few years now. I believe it was the season 3 finale, where Guardian exposed his identity, and the DEO went all gung-ho about using non-leathal weapons. By the end of that episode I was thinking to myself "This show has become so overloaded with political ideology that it isn't even fun to watch anymore." I ended up taking a hiatus for most of seasons 4 and 5 because of it. I came back to 6 mostly out of boredom and still ended up gagging a bit on most episodes. I had the same issue with the Smallville series. Some miracle always happened to preserve Clark's secret identity and it was driving me crazy well before the end of the series. Don't get me wrong, I am totally fine with a subtle message teaching life lessons, but some where along the way the CW got lost and it was no longer subtle OR valuable life messages. It was super heavy handed and the messages was some sort of fantasy world propaganda.
Now that she has a secret identity, a supervillain will not be able to persuade her into participating in a nefarious scheme by kidnapping her boyfriend, or pet cat.

Wow my whole life I've loved this scene. Now I can't stop thinking about how its like when LadyBug made an illusion to convince Chat that Marinette isn't Ladybug, and how there was Mari and Ladybug standing next to each other.
I think it works better if there's a dimensional rift or the character gets split in two. Like in the comics where Superman actually met Clark Kent, or when Peter Parker actually met Spider-Man. And it was really another of them, not some illusion or shapeshifter. I remember the Superman one better because of Lois Lane. As the two Super Kents were gawking at each other, Lois said, "Clark you act like you've never met Superman before." Priceless.
Nice scene but I'd instantly find it to be TOO much of a coincidence. I mean, Kat is accusing Kara of being Supergirl and BAM! Here she is... Now Kat is portrayed to be intelligent, so while she may not have known HOW they pulled the trick off, she should still have her suspicions.

This is one of my favorite scenes on Supergirl, I know it was in the first season but it's still one of my favorites out of the whole series

Kara never introduces herself as Kara to Supergirl in this scene, the only name she heard was when Cat miscalled her name as Kira. And before flying away she called her by her correct name, Kara. I'm surprised Cat never realised that.... Or did she...

Superman has done this to people on many occasions, except, he moves super fast, switching outfits, so he appears in two places at once. I guess Supergirl hasn't practiced that one yet.
Wow my whole life I've loved this scene. Now I can't stop thinking about how its like when LadyBug made an illusion to convince Chat that Marinette isn't Ladybug, and how there was Mari and Ladybug standing next to each other.
I think it works better if there's a dimensional rift or the character gets split in two. Like in the comics where Superman actually met Clark Kent, or when Peter Parker actually met Spider-Man. And it was really another of them, not some illusion or shapeshifter.
I remember the Superman one better because of Lois Lane. As the two Super Kents were gawking at each other, Lois said, "Clark you act like you've never met Superman before." Priceless.

Nice scene but I'd instantly find it to be TOO much of a coincidence. I mean, Kat is accusing Kara of being Supergirl and BAM! Here she is... Now Kat is portrayed to be intelligent, so while she may not have known HOW they pulled the trick off, she should still have her suspicions.
I think she still does know. Just the look in her eye when she drank the tea, hinted that she might know.
It’s not that much of a coincidence Kara got fired she’s friends with James Olsen James is friends with supergirl and Superman she clearly has connections but I do know it’s her and it’s very clear that she did not fool Cat

It's funny cuz Martian Manhunter did the same for Clark in the comics, and Bruce did it too, granted he did say he enjoyed it, and keep in mind Lex still cannot figure out Sups identity,
