I love that the legacy of someone beloved and innovative in their craft can last forever by what they’ve created. For Jasper, it was his punch and his mix. And I love that you care so much about the art of cocktails to keep Jasper’s legacy alive by showing people his work. Cheers to you Anders!
I made the Jasper’s Mix today, 4 hours later made the rum punch. I love that I got to swizzle this cocktail - it’s always extra fun when a technique works! Thanks Anders, for your videos, this week and every week!
I haven't tried this myself but I bet it'd be good with a real peaty scotch. If Jaspers Mix can domesticate Uncle Wrays I bet it'd be great with a similarly wild Laphroaig or Ardbeg! I'm going to make a Japsers Mix/Laphroaig old fashioned when I get home.
These are both great drinks. The Jasper Rum Punch is amazing for its economy; an ounce and a half of cheap Uncle Wrays, sugar, lime, and Ango. The taste is great! I like it a lot more then some much more complicated tiki drinks with expensive and difficult to source bottles. I cant wait to make one with Rum Fire.
I made another batch of the mix and it has been a huge hit around my house. The mix really does tame down the over proof rum in the rum punch and I absolutely love it!
My wife and I have been to Sandals Montego Bay and I love the connection with the Bay Roc. I made Jasper's Mix and then used it to make the Jasper's Rum Punch using Wray & Nephew, Japer's Jamaican Planter's Punch using Meyers Rum and finally the Bay Roc Special using Appleton 12 year. They were all delicious! Another homerun...thanks again Anders!!!
Just drinking mine now: -My mix for some reason is not as bright orange, it's looking a little more brownish -No access to overproff rum so I used white rum, and compensated with plus an oz. This cocktail is so easy, delicious and easy.Thank you Anders, next time I wanna try it with cachaça.
I read that Jasper's Mix is basically a type of falernum, so I made a Corn n' Oil (2oz to .5 oz) and it works. Easiest falernum stand-in I've ever seen.
always fun when one watches a cocktail stream and has all of the ingredients - wray and nephew, yep - coruba (for the jasper's planters punch) yep! and all the ingredients for the mix! good weekend coming!
Love Jasper’s Mix, Anders. Made a bucket of Black Rose f summer gathering as variation on Jack Rose, which has been in demand for the past 2 yrs, especially holidays. Black was too spirit forward for the crew, however, so I dosed it wJasper’s, shook, poured into sippy cups & booshta! Everybody happy! 😂 Cheers!
I like to make my Rum Punch the Barbados way 🇧🇧 1 of Sour (🍋🟩 juice) 2 of Sweet (simple syrup) 3 of Strong (dark 🇧🇧 rum) 4 of Weak (water) Mix in a rocks or highball, add ice, 2 to 4 dashes Angostura, top with nutmeg and enjoy 🇧🇧🌴☀️
Anders! You’ve done it again, my friend. I have a cocktail night on my calendar next Friday and this is going to be perfect for as people arrive! Thanks for passing all your knowledge our way!
Finally back on my TH-cam kick of watching your videos after a long hiatus since moving to Japan and geez I’ve missed it! Just a suggestion/request so pay me no heed if this is a tall order, but I’d love to see the Anders’ take on some original Japanese cocktails! I think your understanding and respect for culturally significant drinks as well as overall style of your videos would complement that sort of subject very well! And from my very limited experience so far, there are a lot of amazing Japanese cocktails, most of which I’ve yet to try.
I truly look forward every week for your videos. Because of you, Anders, I’ve learned so much about the ins and out of cocktails. I thank you so much, both you and Az, for expanding my knowledge in this fabulous field of cocktails! 🍸🍹🥃 😎 cheers
Great recipe! Very simple and very tasty! I had a bottle of the overproof and it has very few uses. (tho in a ultimate mai tai, 1/2 oz of this jamaican rum is excellent!) I used the bottled nutmeg in my batch but I will definitely try grating my own next time. The bottled nutmeg doesn't strain out so you end up with a little tornado of of nutmeg in your glass because it is so fine.
Lets go Anders with another clutch upload!! My friend loves Rum Punch, and I’m so happy for the pre-batch aspect of this because it’s always an involved process haha
Never heard of Jasper’s Mix, but it sounds really good - love the clove notes in angostura bitters, and prepping it in advance sounds like a real winner for a cookout! Thanks for sharing!
6:00 important note! Sugar and water (or lime juice in this case) have different densities, meaning that, if you measure by weight, *the ratio will change.* I saw one source claim that granulated sugar is about 85% as dense as water, meaning 3/4c sugar will weigh closer to 7oz than 6oz. However, since sugar is essentially sand in terms of physics, that density will vary based on how densely it's packed and what type of sugar it is.
WOW! Just got to try it now, have had a vacation with my kid for couple of weeks, but now one week alone:) I've tried this rum (Rum-Bar and Rum Fire , haven't tried the Wraith, but I guess they're allmost the same, all from Jamaica and 126 proof) and that funky banana taste overpowers everything, even in an long island. But here it just mellows out:)
Funny you mention the homemade grenadine. I did not find myself using it in too many drinks, so I decided to create my own, what I call the Jaz(z) sour. 2 oz. gin, 1/2 oz grenadine, 1/2 oz lime juice, and 3 dashes Rose Water. Shaken and served up. Floral yet crisp. Best of all it uses two items on my bar that do not get enough use.
I am in summer so, sizzlers and mojitos and now this will be a very nice, very easy and fast addition to the list. Especially for large and thirsty group of friends. thanks.
Hi Anders….what a way to kick off the weekend than with a rum punch!!👌👌…Jamaican rum is soooo good-a very cool summer vibe!👏👏 Have a great weekend and as always “CHEERS!”😁😁❤️❤️
I just made some right now! My wife looks at the jar in disgust. She says that it looks like something kids would make just screwing around. It doesn't look good in the jar but it tastes fantastic!
Thank you, Anders ! I like this. Only 2 bottles of alcohol to buy. Rum and Ango Bitters. Not going to break the bank. And I like the fact that the mix can be refrigerated for 2 weeks. Wow. So alcohol does screw up your gut ? Who woulda thought ? I wonder if our masters are working on an insect brew ? Anders. Would you be happy to make an insect cocktail ? I'd drink it if it made me jump like a grasshopper, though I wouldn't want to look like one. All the best, my friend ! (I'm only being silly !)
The drinks look super. And I'm really envious of the milkshake machine. I thought I had a milkshake machine, but now I'm reminded of the knife scene in Crocodile Dundee (that's not a knife, this is a knife).
Highly appreciated you wearing approbiate Hawaian-style shirt when presenting Tiki-stuff. Will call that due dilligence. 😆 And will prepare some mix right now for tonight.
Anders Grenadine is truly the best I’ve ever had. It’s rich, it’s beautiful and it’s perfectly tasty!! I’m not paid by Anders, it’s just an honest take on it!
Zbiotics works really well, BTW. My stomach gets easily upset by even small amounts of alcohol, but I can have 2 or 3 cocktails with zbiotic without stomach pains or issues the next day.
Did I happen conveniently to have a bunch of peeled limes and also a bottle of appleton 15? yes. Do I also happen to love mixing rum and drambuie? also yes. the bay roc was outstandingly good. Highly recommend making a batch of the mix.
That's the famous Bajan (Barbados) Rum Punch recipe! I like it with Old Brigand which is what the locals drink mostly. So good after a long day surfing Soup Bowl ;-)
soak the handle of your swizzle stick, then get it hot with a hair dryer or over the stove, it will get bendy, you can then bend against the current bend to straighten it.
Can’t wait to try this Anders! Quick question - how would this be different if you just shook the cocktail with crushed ice and did an open pour? What does the machine or swizzle accomplish that a crushed ice shake wouldn’t? Thanks!
Anders- love your videos and can’t wait to try this recipe! I noticed that the recipe in the description references the Real McCoy 3 year rum, but I didn’t see you using that in the video. Was it supposed to say ovenproof Jamaican rum? Or does the classic recipe use something else? Again, thanks again for the great content; cheers! 😀
Thanks for the great recipe..again. Jasper's Mix looks like something you could easily do on a single drink basis. I'm guessing something like 1 oz lime juice, 1 1/2 tbsp sugar, 2 ml Angostura (4 - 5 dashes?) a bit of ground nutmeg. Did you check the final volume you came up with? It would be easy to come up with the "single drink" ratios if you have the end volume for a full batch.
Hi there Anders, Great stuff as usual. Just a little note, you put the wrong rum in the description for the rum punch. 😄 Thank you for all the great inspiration and superb recipes. Cheers from Switzerland
Wow, great to see Jasper's Mix trendy again. Another popular TH-camr just posted a similar video two weeks ago 😉 ... The credit for Jasper's recipe becoming public should go to the late great rum collector, Stephen Remsberg. He used to tell the story of drinking at Jasper's bar in the '70s and Jasper writing it down for him. Stephen later shared it with both Beachbum Berry and Ted Haigh, who was actually the first to publish it (along with the punch recipes) in Vintage Spirits and Forgotten cocktails back in 2009. Stephen first shared it publicly at Tales of the Cocktail in 2008, which is timely. That was roughly 16 years ago this week. I think I'll go toast both Stephen and Jasper with potent punch.
Granulated sugar in the US usually comes from sugar cane, while in most parts of Europe, it comes from sugar beets and is much coarser than ordinary granulated sugar.
Reminds me of a drink from Nevis called Sunshine’s Killer Bee. Same base most likely plus passion fruit Juice. Would be great if you could do some research make video for us. Love your channel.
The Hamilton $45 dollar product is absolutely awful. It cannot blend better than a hard shake. There is a reason a real one costs $400 aka ten times the amount.
@@DapumaAZ for my home bar uses it works wonderfully. I don’t quite have $400 (aka 10 times the amount) burning a hole in my pocket to throw at a hobby, but I’ll take your word for it.
Hello Anders and Az, thanks again for a beautiful video. quick question why not use simple syrup instead of the sugar. would mix the mix faster or do you like the texture of the sugar? thanks you.
This is my Caesar salad drink... Hear me out. I love a good Caesar Salad. Something you can get at any restaurant, no one makes them the same way, but it still hits the spot. It blew my mind when learned from a Golf travel show (adventures in golf) that the Caesar salad came from a restaurant named Caesar's in Tijana Mexico. (always thought it was Italian) Now, I can't eat a Caesar salad without being that Dad who tells the same story everytime something happens. I can't, not think of the fact that it's from Mexico. I sit down at the restaurant, order the salad, then say "Fun Fact, Caesar salads are actually from Mexico" to anyone who would listen. And most people say, "wow, I thought it was from Italy". What does this have to do with a Rum Punch? I love rum punch. Jasper's rum punch. And like the salad, I can't not think about Jasper, Montego Bay Jamaica, the story, and not to mention that most people put fruit punch in a rum punch when it doesn't have it in the first place. And I only know about Jasper's Rum Punch because I went to Jamaica on vacation and learned this from a bartender in Montego Bay! All this to say, I've always appreciated your History section in your videos and this one hit a special place in my heart. Cheers!

Thanks for the low abv (and lower cost, as well) suggestion, as I’m always looking for those!
Enjoying Topo Chico and a splash of the Jasper’s mix - thanks for mentioning this!
This stuff is GREAT with soda. It's a great way to finish off a big batch (and maybe lay off the overproof rum for a day or two).
It's a candied green cherry, Anders. Common mostly in baked goods during the end of year holidays.
you sound so much like Steve Carell
I love that the legacy of someone beloved and innovative in their craft can last forever by what they’ve created. For Jasper, it was his punch and his mix. And I love that you care so much about the art of cocktails to keep Jasper’s legacy alive by showing people his work. Cheers to you Anders!

They used to sell green maraschino cherries in jars that I remember from when I was a kid...perhaps the green ball is a green cherry?!?
Love this! Had no idea. Thanks for sharing
I think you can still get them Leandro used once for his greenhorn video
There are multiple brands selling these to my surprise. I do remember from my childhood, I think more common around Christmas?
My mom used them in a Brazil nut loaf she made for my grandma every Christmas 🎄.
Yes, I remember the bottle of green cherries.
I did 1.5 mix to 2 ounces of mezcal and was very happy with the results.
I like this new video format with an extra recipe at the end, keep it up Anders :)
