I haven't been detecting for long (less than a year) and I'm still looking for my first silver. Been hunting around a house built in 1902 and I've found a few wheats so I know it's possible just haven't found them.
It is the year my mother was born. Dad in 1920. Now I'm hitting retirement age. I've been detecting since I bought the Equinox 800 and the oldest coins I've found are 2 1944 Mercury dimes and a 1944 quarter. They're coming. I can't get out as much as I used to. Take care, y'all.
Living in the state of Washington State, it's hard to find silver let alone a mercury dime. I've been hunting now for 3 years and only have a few Rosie dimes. Both my parents were born in 1919 and it would be a great memento. Love watching you guys.
My 5 year old granddaughter got her first detector for Christmas. If I had it, I'd draw up a treasure map and we'd follow it to the spot marked X. She'd have her first TREASURE 😊
I remember my first metal detector that I got and still have. It is a White Beach Comer, the first coin that I found was a 1944 Merc. I have it in a small shallow box hanging on the wall with a small sign with the date that I found along with a picture of me pointing where the coin was in the hole. I was so proud. Congrats to you and Gary on your finds. Keep on digging those beeps.
Based on my own experience with the Manticore, you now have to re-visit any site you've ever hunted. I continue to be impressed with the finds I'm making that I somehow missed with my army of previous Minelabs. Continued succcess men!
Older Jefferson nickle usually come up 23-25, but those new ugly buggers come up higher 28-29. Good luck hunting with the new machines, I would love to have one of those as well, Someday hopefully I will. I noticed someone saying they would do a treasure hunt with your “signed” coin for their granddaughter, I think I would do the same with my grandson. He loves to watch videos with me, and go metal detecting.😁
It would be my honor to accept a signed merc by Mr.John him self. Love the videos been watching for a while! Keep up the good work I’m still trying at it myself!
excellent videos look forward to more with the maticore, coincidently my grandfather was discharged from the army in 1919, that would be a excellent addition to his shadow box!!
Glad y'all got the manticores now! Been running one for a few months and just now really getting the hang of it. Gotta get the m8 coil, its crazy good. overall its a beast of a machine! Good luck to everyone with the mercury dime!
Aww those dimes are awesome. I find mostly men do this but I love the hobby too. My hubby and I watch your videos together. I like your music too. Hope you select me for the dime.
Love your show, I found the exact coin here in Australia at world war two Australian amry training camp with the manticore the only difference was I didn't sign it, keep up the great work, cheers.
I'll take that merc! Lol. I went on my first hunt yesterday. I found my first pull tab🥇, ancient beer cans and a mystery copper "thing". No buttons, bullets, or coins though. 👊😂 I love your channel. Keep digging!🙂👊❤
I've always loved to go metal detecting in America but unfortunately I'm in new zealand in heard that America has huge silver dollars that are called morgan dollars and it a pretty epic coin #cheer bro 🤙happy hunting 😀 👍
Boy, I hope I haven't missed it. I would absolutely love my favorite coin to be signed by you. That's 2 major bonuses in one. Keep up the good work guys. Because I love to watch y'all.
Glad you had a good hunt. My channel and videos disappeared l, but I was able to use my name. But I lost all my subs. I will be going out after this weekend and pop up a video same day or next. Love your channel and everyone in it.
Glad to see you are using the best machine out there. I’m just kidding I’m sure the D2 is a good machine I’m just not a fan of screen and menu on that one. On manticore if you get in heavy iron turn down sensitivity to 20-21 and you’ll know it a square nail. I’m sure you knew that already but when I first started using it I would be running at 25 and above and it falses bad from halo effect on iron. The vdi numbers can be all over the place. I dug a barber dime that rang up at 63 but had two square nails in the hole. Dug a cart wheel penny at same number and it had five nails in with it. Those things are huge. Should have rang up more like a large cent at 90. I love manticore!
Welcome to the beast club boys! Gonna need about 50 hours to train your ear and then you can confidently call your type of coin. Don't worry too much about the numbers or the ID. Depending on the dirt you're in, the numbers will fluctuate wildly. The best part of the Manticore is its separation and ability to find upright coins. It will make all of your old sites new again! Enjoy :) SB
You really Manticored that Merc, John! And you really whacked it, too! Way to turn that “oops” into a positive! Please enclose a signed certificate of authenticity.
Hell yeah! Put my name in the bucket for the personally autographed Mercury! lol. And, many thanks John for going over the Manticore - was looking at this one on your site.
Commenting for that Merc 😂 I have yet to detect or find one coin roll hunting. I look forward to finding my first and adding it to my junk silver stack!
Sometimes we hit our targets by mistake, the real joy was that you found what you located!! Awesome channel and excellent content. Your signature Mercury Dime is one more silver found!
