  • Camera glass replacement for the Samsung S20. Camera glass restoration of the Samsung Galaxy S20 plus or Samsung S20+. Same principle applies to the S20fe, S20 and S20 Ultra. The difficulty level is 4 for this repair. The S20 plus is the super android of 2020. The S20+ like other Samsung devices is very straightforward in terms of repairability.

    Great video! Any advice on the fact that my camera won't auto focus at all after doing this repair? I was very careful not to touch our damage any of the camera and neither will auto focus through the replacement glass I purchased. Have you heard of this problem before?

    • @ersbit
      @ersbit  2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Yes I had the exact issue a few days after doing this 1 of the lens was not focusing basically got dust or something inside lying on the sensor and impossible to clear. I had to replace that camera. It made sure the other camera could focus and found the bad camera using third party apps. If you glass was broken for a long time dust will infiltrate without any signs. Worse is camera won't focus because of the dust.

    • @ersbit
      @ersbit  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Fist thing you will need to test all cameras separately and see which one never focus from there you can try to clean with air (no liquid). It's really difficult to salvage a camera with dust on the inside

    • @ersbit
      @ersbit  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      hola, todavía puedes usar una pistola de calor o un secador de pelo, pero ten mucho cuidado y apunta el aire hacia los lados y no directamente a las cámaras. También hazlo de 5 a 10 segundos y retira el trozo de vidrio roto y repite lo mismo. Haciéndolo de esa manera no debería ocurrir ningún daño.

    An sich ja witzig. Ich hab selbst bereits mehrfach das Kamera Glas gewechselt aus dem Grund das nach meiner Wechselung nach einer Weile 1-4 Wochen jede Menge Staub sich darunter befindet. Fraglich woher es kommt, wenn es doch zu ist. Möglich das Staub direkt in dem Zwischengehäuse ist... Eine Idee wie man es komplett staubfrei bekommt? Selbst in diesem kleinen Hohlraum bei den ersten zwei Kameralinsen von Links, oben nach unten? >.>

    • @ersbit
      @ersbit  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Tolle Frage. Ich denke, der Staub kommt von früherem Staub, den Sie zuvor angesammelt haben. Die beste Reparatur wäre, einfach das Kameramodul zu wechseln, oder Sie entfernen das Kameramodul und reinigen es mit etwas Alkohol und Druckluft. Wenn Sie auch alle Einbauten mit Druckluft reinigen, wird der gesamte Staub entfernt, und Sie haben keine Staubprobleme, nachdem Sie nur das hintere Glas oder das Kameraglas ausgetauscht haben.

  • @gian6386

    Hello, just asking if replacing the camera glass will void the IP rating of the phone?

    • @ersbit
      @ersbit  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Will diminish the IP rating and over all water resistance Here : th-cam.com/video/zypD1HeLXcI/w-d-xo.html
      I think the amount of tape on the S20 plus is big enough and cover more surface than the S21 in the video so technically the S20 plus should survive longer in water after a glass repair, but you must not take it as same IP rating as new unrepaired device.

    Hi, my camera glass has broken on my S20, there is a hole in the glass directly above the camera lens (no damage on the lens from what I can see). I tried to see if my camera is working which it is however it doesn't seem to be focusing. Is this because of the hole directly above the camera? Or is the actual camera damaged

    • @ersbit
      @ersbit  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Unfortunately it can be both. When your ready to replace the glass you can test the camera with the broken glass removed. If the blurry image persist it is the camera (damage). With the hole on the glass the edge of the hole can make things blurry also.
      If the camera module get bad unfortunately you will have to replace it

    • @ersbit
      @ersbit  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The glass should not be an issue, the thing to worry about is the double sided tape. Some are very thin which is acceptable but not the best. In this case if I remember correctly it was very thin but it should hold without any issues because the sticky surface area is big

    • @ersbit
      @ersbit  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hope you did not put too much liquid/alcohol in while cleaning the lenses?
      If it is liquid related you can use cold air blower to dry the excess.
      If the camera glass was broken for a long time you might have accumulated dust on the surface of the sensor so repairing the glass only wouldn’t fix that.
      Cannot think of anything else related to blurry/focusing problems.
      If it was the heat that cause the phone to stop focusing I doubt you will even see anything when you open the camera application.

    • @ersbit

      Basically same thing you heat the glass area and insert a blade in. Lift the glass (the risk is that you may damage the glass while trying to remove it). Would suggest that you open the back glass clean everything and reseal the back.

Also could a hot compress like a microwaveable one work in place of hairdryer? Thanks so much for such an informative video!

    • @ersbit
      @ersbit  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Ok. If it was me removing the glass I would try the edges first ( make sure you have eye protection because glass piece will/can fly while you try to lift the glass and result in a broken glass and maybe a scratch on the edge of the camera bezel. Also I recommended the back glass open because you will have access to the whole device and can clean everything one and for all. Lifting the camera glass alone and cleaning what you see can work but if there is something nearby not close to the cameras you won't be able to clean it.
      Also since your pretty sure the camera glass is good the dust and debris must have entered maybe through the back glass or front speaker.
      If it's like ifixfit eye-opener it will work (get it really hot) and move it around in a controlled manner and start the removal process. I personally think a Hairdryer is easier lol. Also if it gets harder to move the glass reheat the camera glass area and continue.
      Goodluck.

      Ok. I looked on eBay they have some parts for Xperia 10. Now I don't know which model of Xperia 10 you are referencing? If you cannot find the glass alone you can get a back cover and remove the camera glass and fix your broken camera glass

    You put the adhesive on upside down. The little hole should have gone over the mic, and the larger (oblong) hole goes over the flash and depth finder. Nice video otherwise!

      You might be right the tape should be flipped vertically the way I had it. I don't think it affects the function of the microphone and flashlight the way I had it. Thank for your contribution 👍🏽.

      It mainly depends on the type of tape used. If the tape is of good quality similar to oem I really think the device should be at least one rating less than if it was brand new.
