    I just started self studying CCNA, I want to change careers from Healthcare to IT. This is a lot but am so determined to do it, I can't do Healthcare anymore. Th effects of this virus, to helplessly witness so many deaths really affected me mentally 😔. By all means I need to change careers, so help me God. Thank you Mr. BARKER. May God keep on blessing you for this.

    Where have you been all my life? Your energy is so cool. Thank you for explaining things so simple. I've taken Cisco classes in college. I am now studying to take CCNA cert. using CiscoPress books. Your knowledge and CiscoPress will make this journey so much fun! Love it! I'm now following you on TH-cam and Twitter.

    Keith, you are a phenomenal instructor. I've taken the entire 200-301 curriculum over 3 quarters of community college, and had ZERO IT understanding going in, didn't even know what networking was, really. Needless to say, I missed a lot, and now, using your videos and labs for review, a lot of concepts are making more sense. Thank you so much.

    Keith, I hope you are still on here teaching because I think you're great putting it in lamens terms and helps so much. I'm just a couple of years behind you in age BUT I'm just starting in the IT world. So I'm grabbing onto your coat tails. Barely could use a computer and now in just a few months in college Cybersecurity I've learned a ton but processing it all is difficult so I like to watch people explains things better than self teaching in college. You're given an assignment but not taught nothing. So great folks like yourself help soooo much.

    So will this playlist prepare me for the 2020 updated CCNA exam? Right now I'm using Jeremy's IT lab courses,I'm questioning whether to read the Todd Lammle book or not...

    • @KeithBarker
      @KeithBarker  4 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Thank you for the question R T.
      Jeremy's IT Lab courses are wonderful! I would recommend at least 1 book as a reference as well. Check the feedback on Amazon regarding books, to make sure others are recommending it as well. I've heard that Lammle's book is a good one.
      This TH-cam channel is intended to be a valuable resource while learning the CCNA content, but not an exhaustive end to end coverage of every possible topic.
      Thanks for the question, and happy studies!

    • @KeithBarker
      @KeithBarker  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you for the question. If you are brand new to networking, you may want to consider CompTIA Network+ followed by the Cisco CCNA. There is quite a bit of overlap, which is good for reinforcement.

    It's interesting you say we don't need to memorize the OSI model. All the other resources I've used to learn networking emphasize the importance of knowing the OSI model because it's the model most network engineers use for communicating issues on a network. Would you say TCP/IP or the "actual" model is enough for the CCNA but we should know OSI for working in networking or is TCP/IP /"actual" model enough even when diagnosing network issues?

    • @KeithBarker
      @KeithBarker  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you for the question Erich.
      What we use today is a mashup of terms and layers from BOTH the OSI and DOD model.
      Final result is:
      Application Layer
      Transport Layer 4
      Network Layer 3
      Datalink Layer 2
      Physical Layer 1
      And it is important to understand the layers above for designing, managing, and troubleshooting networks.
      Cheers!

    Hey Keith,
    Thanks for the videos. Was the 200-301 CCNA training videos complete with this playlist? What advice do you have for people who struggle with doing labs?
    Thanks!

    • @KeithBarker
      @KeithBarker  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you Hakim. The playlist here ogit.online/sloth is not an exhaustive all inclusive coverage of the CCNA, but rather a list of videos to assists learners. The best way to do better with labs is study the technology, and then practice practice practice. All my PT labs have TH-cam videos that walk through the solutions. There is a separate playlist just for the PT labs ogit.online/pt-labs
      Happy studies.

    Hey Keith, Amazing video and series.
    Do you think that studying all the videos in this series would be enough to pass the CCNA exam or should I supplement the videos with something else?
    Thank you
    edit:
    Not that I'm only interested in passing the exam, just in the case of me attempting to get certified later.

      Thank you for the question Abdullah. This master playlist ogit.online/sloth is really a supplement to whatever official method you are using to cover all the topics (book, video course, etc). Glad you are here, and thanks for the question.

    HI Keith, I have actually been studying for the 200-125 CCNA the past month and unfortunately I have not been able to master all the concepts yet. I'm about 3/4 of the way there, but I feel like at this point i'm better off saving my voucher for the 200-301. I'm going to be relying heavily on your videos here and on CBT nuggets to pass exam within the next 2 months. I may just buy Todd Lammle's new 200-301 book to replace his current 200-125 I've been using. Do you think just the videos would be enough? Keep up the good work and thanks for taking the time with these vids

    • @KeithBarker
      @KeithBarker  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Jorge. The CBT Nuggets are very thorough, and should be enough. Having a book as a resource is also a good idea for additional insights for any topic you want to dive into a little more. Glad you are here, and happy studies! It is worth the effort.

      Thank you for the question Ryan Apalategui. This is additional insights, quizzes, and videos from me here. It is not the same full end to end playlist available at CBT Nuggets, (which is quite good).

    Hey Keith. I came across your series thanks to Jeremey's IT Lab. You're both amazing! I'm just wondering, how did you decide on the order of videos? Is it based on the CCNA 200-301 official exam guide, or something else? Also, is your course enough to study from (along with Jeremy's I guess), or do you suggest other materials/sources too? I know you're on CBT Nuggets but not sure of the difference between materials. Last question: is video 66 (or 68) the last video in the series or will there be more?
    Again, many thanks!

    • @KeithBarker
      @KeithBarker  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you for the question. I add several videos to the playlist each month. Not intending for this to be a sole study solution, but rather to help those who are studying.

    Hey Keith! Is it necessary to buy some hardware to perform labs for CCNA 200-301. If yes, what to buy and set-up?

    • @KeithBarker
      @KeithBarker  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Great question. For the CCNA all you really need is the free packet tracer simulator from netacad.com You can sign up for a free account and start using it. If you want to buy a practice physical rack, there are several companies that do that on eBay. Glad you are here, and enjoy the CCNA playlist: ogit.online/sloth
