    The above question presents as if beings came first and Aathma came and occupied later. That is the error. There is only Aathma. when the universe is viewed, as we see a huge space populated by multifarious things and we think about Aathma later, it presents a confusing picture. The dreamlike Universe appears superimposed on and is supported by the dreamlike space which is actually the Aathma only as it is the only sentient force. This enlarging Aathma to accommodate the spreading Universe of things and beings is called as Brahman (Brh to grow). Anything superimposed on it is in close contact with the sentient 'self' of each, this being the Aathma only. Hence this 'presence' in the above question.
