JUST WAIT - There is yet another version of Bad Valentine due to drop on October 4: a "narrative" music video with Angelina perhaps testing the acting waters AND a stripped down vocal/piano arrangement per her co-writer and producer Toby Gad. This song is epic - that new arrangement and video likely will bring her to yet another level, as impossible as that may seem.
I pre-saved the Piano Diaries version on iTunes a few days after pre saving the studio version. I was surprised that there was going to be a Piano Diaries version.

🤗🤗🤗. You know you're like the best. Need you, reactions lose their luster, but good ones keep it feeling epic. We're in for such a treat with her epic concert from sept 20th, and James' efforts in enhancing the audio. She was amazing. We already got at least Bad Valentine in professional audio from Toby and Angie too 😮🤗🤗🤗. 21 songs, and man her and her band, the guests, it was all incredible. I stopped watching them waiting for James' videos though. 🤗

Bad Valentine Piano Diaries Version coming October 4th 2024
What we don’t know is the percentage of contribution of the three in regards to the songwriting. Angelina has been writing songs from her journals since she was a young girl and has said that she has written over 100. I think it’s safe to assume that all those songs didn’t have cowriters from the beginning. I think that we can assume that her originals are mostly her with some help from cowriters when she selects a song she wants to record. She has said that she reads through her journals while sitting at the piano so that’s probably how she gets her song ideas.
Even her next song will be the best song by her ever 😂
Actually the audio was recorded nearly 2 years ago with Toby Gad, but her record label didn't want to include it on her EP. "Old Enough," so she decided to release it under Toby's label as a single. The music video was made recently using the studio recording from when she was 16. The live version on James Thiel's channel from a few months ago was when she was 18. I love them both, but I prefer the more recent live version with piano & strings backing, over this more produced pop version.
When the EP was released Angelina said that she chose the songs for the EP so it may have been her choice to not include Bad Valentine. The big question that we don’t yet know the answer to is why only an EP was released in the first place. We had heard that she was working on an album and she certainly recorded enough material for an album. The 6 EP songs plus the 8 she recorded with Toby and who knows, there may be other songs recorded that are still unreleased. Maybe Our Time was also recorded at that time and was used later for the commercial.
I love your channel! But if you want to get really blown away Angelina and Toby released TODAY 10/4/24 a jazzy (piano version). She uses new techniques jazz that will make you MELT 🎉❤❤
the most addictive part of the song in my opinion is around 1:30, the "should've been breathing fine" is insane. The staccato and accent on each word is such a beautiful contrast to the lines around it + the way it falls on top of the drums is chef's kiss !! I replay that section at least 10 times every time I listen to the song. Bad Valentine is definitely in my top three favorite songs of hers. It is not #1 in my ranking because 7th Heaven will always be it for me. I hope the single does well, I know the reasoning behind not promoting her music like we see with other artists her age in the industry, but I hope she gradually gets more marketing now that she is 18 and an adult

Have you experienced that nasty tiny group of haters that have found her bow she's more well known. Why must people be like that. I don't know if it's true or not but I read in the comments that Toby said that they recorded this song two years ago.
From what I know that Toby has said is they wrote this when AJ was 16, when her EP came out he was disappointed and hurt that this song was not included on the EP (believe that was a Republic decision), fast forward to present time, he has since started his own record Label (Kite Records) and here we are.

I prefer the stripped down organic cafe version, live with the piano and strings. Adding the beat I suppose, is to appeal to the younger audience. I've had for the longest time, the feeling her label is not 100% behind her. If they wouldn't push this then they won't push anything Angelina does. Shame on them.
In a live chat with Toby the other day he explained how promotion works these days, not just Republic but all labels. Today labels look for their new artists to get a viral hit on their own and once that happens they will start to promote them. Doesn’t seem right but that’s the name of the game in the digital age. That’s why when Old Enough was released she said that the label would be looking at streams to promote it. I didn’t understand that at the time.
So it’s basically up to Angelina and her team to take care of promotion for now along with any help her fans can do including to stream, contact local radio stations, introduce her to others
Now that the song is released under Toby’s label he’s trying what he can do to promote it but can only do so much with no real budget.
Regarding the different versions of the song, the studio version is from two years ago (when Angelina was 16) and the original intent. So technically the best wasn’t added. It was always there.
Her live stripped down version (2 years later) was more in keeping with Toby’s show that evening.
I really like both versions but the studio version has more of a chance for a wider audience.
@@pjg58x I see what you're saying about the way labels work now. But, there is some nasty shit being played on the radio and MTV that I guarantee was not streamed. If this is the way labels operate now then I'm shocked. It's easy to hear the unique genius in Angelina's voice and to wait to see the reaction from a streaming public is down right stupid. Republic, just promote her and you'll see results.
I've called radio stations and requested her and the jocks responses are, who is she, never heard of her. That's the damn labels fault or someone is black balling her. Either fearful of her success or for not getting to sign her.
I've been around a long time and I've never seen anything like it. A talent of this magnitude not naturally rising to the top. There would never have been the great music of the sixties and seventies if the music industry had been operated like it is now.
In my opinion that's why so many older folks have taken to her, we know good music when we hear it because we heard it in the past. Good Lord, something's not adding up.
For me, her live performance is much better. More soulful , sound more genuine and raw. In this version the music is too loud and too much of a irritating beat. Sound typical commercial with this kind of music.

Millions miles away from being a world class singer and what more disappointing for me is that the way I see it make me believe that she will never be a global superstar I mean all she does is just release 1 or 2 single for the whole year which nobody in the world of music even bother to listen and perform at 1 or 2 very low level and quality concerts in amphitheatre just with a bunch of old audiences and then she just all over the tik tok with very cheap videos and she is trying to cover her low quality singing with performing barefoot to get the attention from that and she knows her old audiences fall for that sorry guys I know u wouldn't like my comment and u probably hate me but I can't just close my eyes and not to see she is falling since she moved to America. I can't just be a fan in no matter what situation
