I've gotta admit, as a non English native speaker, I was a little bit unsure whether to watch your rules videos or not. Now that I've watched Village and this one, I'm pretty confident these are on of he best rules videos on TH-cam. Great job.
Thank you so much for your kind words 🙏. We have that in mind, describing things clearly with appropirate selection of wordings. I understand, because I grew up in non English speaking country. Have a great day! Stella.
This might be the best tutorial for Wyrmspan I seen on TH-cam so far. I learn more about the game through a tutorial that reviews, etc., and you're one of the channels with some of the best tutorials for games as they come out. I look forward to seeing this game released next week and in stores soon. (I can also imagine how many expensions this game will get in future years if this becomes a popular game, which I see happening due to Wingspan (the game this spin-off is based on) still popular and dragons being popular fantasy creatures all the time.)
Hi Daniel, thank you so much for your kind words🙏. Yes you're right, hoping for expansions too. Glad our tutorial video is useful. Hope you'll enjoy playing it too. 🙏🙏
@@MeepleUniversityyour channel is the best channel to learn how to play a board game. Every time I want to learn a new board game and there is a video about it here, I know it will be easy to learn! Great job!
I was ready to give up on learning Wyrmspan until I came across your video. Well explained without the nonsense many tutorials have. I want to learn from the tutorial, not be entertained! That’s what the game is for. Thank you for explaining it so well.
We're glad we can help you learn and play the game. We're putting a lot of effort in teaching the game, so really appreciate your feedback here. Thank you so much 🙏🙏
Hi. I bought Wyrmspan when it released and am just now taking it out of the shrink wrap. We're planning a game night this weekend, and everyone is excited to try it, as we're big Wingspan fans. I searched TH-cam for tutorials, listened to several, but yours stands out among the crowd. I used to manage a Wizards of the Coast game store back in the day. I've taught many games to both seasoned gamers and newbies. This is hands down the best tutorial I have seen online...ever. Now, it's hard to compete with the sheer fun of Shut Up and Sit Down for game run throughs. Lol. But wow. Thorough, straightforward, perfect pacing, simple, well organized approach, just completely on point. Bravo. (and thank you!) Subscribed.
Welcome to the family. What a heart warming, uplifting, kind comments. We are humbled by this. Thank you for taking the time to write this, this means a lot to know that our effort has been appreciated, and useful to learn board game quickly! We hope you enjoy playing Wyrmspan. Have a wonderful day! Stella.
Originally I was convinced I won't be getting Wyrmspan because I believed it to be just a Wingspan reskin. However I see now I was wrong. This game, I daresay, is what Wingspan should have been from the start (strictly speaking about the mechanics) and I really do love every aspect of if, from the apparent nerfing of the "lay eggs to gain points during the last round" to variable turns during a round (which increases complexity regarding resource managements, namely coins, and comboing) and finally to the refreshing actions between rounds where you gain something to move you along. I still do love Wingspan and will happily play it (when my partner and I play we really try to avoid the egg-spamming tactic and instead try to find other methods to increase our scores), but Wyrmspan scratches some of the itches; I believe I'll be getting it soon.
As always, you two made this game so easy to understand. When I originally looked at the player board, it looked so complicated, but you make it fun. Thanks!!!
Great video, but I have a question, which might be an error in the video or me missing something. At 18:57, you place the egg you get at the end of the round on the Hatchling, but that card doesn't have an egg nest on it. Did I miss something or is that an error? Thanks!
You did a great job explaining the game play. I have watched 4 other videos and none of them were as informative as yours was. I only have one question and it's what's the 6,3,1 point boxes on the bottom of the players Dragon Guild board for. It seems like a great benefit to take the 6 point box if you are the first player to enter that area or am I missing something significant about it? Thank you for helping us out. We are huge WIngspan fans (playing multiple games a day during our retirement years). Our son got us Wyrmspan for my Husband's birthday and we think we will also love this game. We were a little confused at first playing our first game but you have answered most of our questions. We were, for instance, paying a coin and the egg cost for "all" actions and found us running out of eggs and food quickly but now I know that you only pay for that when exploring those caves. Thank you again for the great advice and enjoy your gaming.
Thank you so much for your kind words, glad we can help you play 🙏🙏🙏. The point boxes is first in best dressed, and the 6 and 3 are one cube only space, the 1 is unlimited (mentioned next to it)- so yes you are correct. It's one of tough decision - when do you want to go there for the highest point, so other player couldnt get it, or do you want to go to other spaces on that board, coz there are pretty good resources/other things you can altenatively get on that board. Seems like going to a 6 space is a good near end of game thing, but do you want to do it earlier, meanwhile getting other benefits/options, or leaving it for others. Hope that make sense! 🙏
So if I am understanding this correctly: At the start of my turn, I can only take one of the 3 actions, which are excavate, entice or explore, and then my turn ends and it is on to the next player? And then once everybody has their turn and it is back to me, I can choose to take one of the 3 choices again right? For example: Turn 1 I chose excavate, then turn 2 I chose excavate again, so this move is legal right? And if I ever run out of resources or coin (not gold), I can't take any actions, and that would mean that I have to pass on my turn correct?
Great tutorial! I feel like I can now teach the game (with some reference to the intricacies of the rulebook). Thank you as always for such Tarrant-ific and Stella-r tutorials!
I know I’m late to the party… but thank you for an excellent tutorial video. The pacing was good and the explanations were easy to understand. Regardless, I’ll probably forget everything I learned here once we ready to play. 🤣
This may be a dumb question/I may have missed the instruction but I haven't opened the box yet and I don't have the rules in front of me since I'm wanting to surprise my family with this for board game night. How do you reach the end of a round?
Everyone defines interaction differently, but some of the ways other players "matter" are: - Competing for limit bonuses on the Dragon guild - Competing for dragon and cave cards in the face-up market - Competing for end-round goals - Some dragon abilities compare you to other players (e.g. "gain a meat if you have more dragons in this row than your neighbor")
Dragon "Facts"... ha! Should have been called Dragon Lore. I'm tired of people playing fast and loose with the word "facts". (and those pesky kids better stay off my lawn!)
