That's what I'm trying to come to terms with right now. I went hard in the paint to collect the whole SS86 line since I love the designs and I just need Scourge and Rumble last. I saw they are releasing the WFC Gamer Edition figures, so that's the next line I'm getting everything of. Other than that I am starting to get whatever looks cool. I have both Wei Jiang Oversized Optimus and Megatron. Recently bought Legacy Evolution Jhiaxus and waiting ever so patiently for my Legacy Motormaster and Stunticons.
Yeah, pretty much how I collect. You can't try and get every piece from every line unless you're Hasbro's CEO himself (even then it may be a bit difficult; Takara's CEO is probably gonna gatekeep a lot of the figures) so it's best to just get what you can if you like it and it's available.
The most fun part of Transformers collecting is that once you pay $3,000 for that mint in box Black Zarak, there's a very real possibility that the figure has crumbled to dust in the box since the type of metallic gold plastic that Hasbro used in the 80s and 90s just straight-up self-destructs. Only way to find out is to open up your $3,000 mystery box!
Its wild how diverse transformers figures are. From cars, to animals, to robot animals, to combiners and titans. There are multiple lines that you could get into to complete your set. And thats not even touching the masterpiece lines, third party KOs, upgrade kits and sticker labels. There's so much to collect that it would take a life time to even collect them all.
In my very humble collection of Transformers figures, the best one that has a place in my heart is the Generations Combiner Wars Thundercracker. Sure he was 10cm high, weighed as much as a piece of paper, the one coloured wheel under the cockpit looks like it’s bound to break, but it was one of the best gifts I have around to this day, and am not afraid to swish it in my room or going down the stairs.
Thanks for making the video! As a lifelong Transformers collector, the biggest struggles I face are simply deciding what to buy amongst all the options, and find SPACE. Also love the Diaclone shout out! I’m a big Diaclone fan too, I even own the Diaclone Reboot Battle Convoy(bought for aftermarket price) and it’s two repaints.
As a kid that grew up in the 80's, I loved Transformers. I had so many Gen 1 toys, including Optimus and Megatron, the fact it transformed into a gun was so cool. Of course I played with them and god knows where they went after I stopped playing with them, if I kept everything i'd have a small fortune now. Beast Wars was awesome too, I was around 12 when that came out so I was always excited to watch that after school. And i'm glad someone else also thinks Soundwave is the best.

I used to have a shop on eBay in the early noughties, selling mostly G1 Transformers. I used to buy entire collections and complete the figures before selling them on. It got to the point i had a large accessory and parts bin that i decided to start selling off. It went down a storm and was more profitable than selling completed figures, so im surprised no one is doing this today.
I just started getting into Transformers after watching the new movie. I initially started out just picking up whatever I could find at discount stores like Ross and Burlington, but as I started growing my collection and finding my old figures from the 07' and Animated, I began looking into OG figs and more specific lines. I havent pulled the trigger on anything major yet, my collection mostly consists of Legacy and Studio Series figs, but I am planning on making a purchase with some heft to it soon, no more than 100usd tho. Wishing G1 mold soundwave, both original and rerelease, was more accessible...

The Decepticons have such cool designs in the Michael Bay movies, with the first movie's Blackout definitely taking the cake. First Transformer, awesome design from a heavy helicopter. Just perfect.
Finally someone else who loves Soundwave. I have the War for Cyberton Soundwave and Bumblebee Soundwave, with ravage (ROTF) Lazerbeak (DOTM) and another ravage (Bumblebee). Definitely the best (and strongest) Transformer.
I just collect the newer main line figures and I'm limiting myself to the ones that appeared in the transformers devastation video game (I've only cheated from this limit like five times)
The hardest part of Transformers collecting is guessing which figures will sell out fast and become overpriced on the aftermarket, and which figures can be waited on until a discount. In a Combiner team, at least one of the members is always guaranteed to be rare and overpriced a year after release. Repaints that go together or in duos can also become very expensive, such as Runabout compared to Runamuck.
Always wanted you to talk about Transformers! The g1 figures I own are a g1 Sound wave and a g1 Tailwind. Found Tailwind in a box full of bargain bin Legos.
Those MIB G1 autobot cars are beautiful. I have every 84 and 85 autobot car in box except for skids and grapple. I'll complete the collection soon! Loved seeing yours and I'm happy you have such a knowledge of the old school stiff.

I’ve gotten my 4yo nephew interested in transformers after he saw my collection. He was like “WOW, robots AND cars?! This is the greatest thing ever!” My personal favorite is War for Cybertron Scorponok. Beautiful figure, somehow got it for standard retail price. Also have a completed Studio Series Devastator.
Us Transformers fans never thought it was possible to have a wife while playing with transformers. It’s incredible. He’s the first of he’s kind. We call him the transformers Rizz man
Some of my favorite Transformers toys are the Studio Series 86 Dinobots. Grimlock, Snarl, Sludge, and Slug so far. They've yet to make Swoop, which is coming next year. I love them because of how big and chunky they feel, intuitive transformations, and, I mean, cmon. ROBOT DINOSAURS MAN.

as someone that was "late" to the party when it comes to transformers toys and "only" having DLX megatron,Soundwave and Flametoys Tarn i figured well might as well get the original Megatron... i was not prepared for the realasation that a intact one will cost me more then two DLX Figures...so yeah transformers toys are surprisingly expesive
honestly, I gotta thank some KO companies like baiwei and APC toys for re-doing some older/rarer figures who are also on the more affordable side, it's helped me quite alot.
As a 2007 baby, despite being a super fan and not read any of the comics, Im proud to say that Transformers is honestly both a collection and an actual toy you can play with. It's like a puzzle in a way especially without intrsuctions. I will say the two complaints I have are exclusives and something-only figures, and the price of many especially nowadays. Deluxes I remember ranged from $17-$21.99 and nowadays are $22-$27.99 I find this video is intriguing and if you want to put your challenge yourself for complete sets, try and find figures from the combiner wars era. They're so expensive online and rare to find irl.
I think if there is any side that gets the worse of the tf collecting it’s the masterpiece stuff since you can either get the real thing for a whole mortgage or get the cheap KO it’s crazy to collect the masterpiece line

Took me right back to the best Christmas ever which ended with my Megatron and Soundwave in an epic battle against my brothers Optimus Prima and Jazz. Just a few more of the many thousands of pounds worth retirement fund I’d have if they told you what these things would be worth when you got old (and that had actually been something I could have related to). Another bussin’ video. (Did I use that right?).
So Lego Optimus Prime got me into Transformers and let me tell you it's hell in my country of South Africa. We get maybe, and this is being generous, 5 percent of the new releases. You may think that's because we are a third world country, but we get most other toys and luxury items. For Lego we get at least 95 percent of all releases with only some retailer exclusives falling through the cracks. We have 5 Lego stores which is more than most countries of this size. Same can be said for several other toy and collector lines. The distributor for Transformers just seems to be terrible here.
Robrick, I'm surprised you didn't pick up any awesome Transformers from Kingdom (specifically Beast Wars characters) or Studio Series, given your beginnings with the franchise. If you're more into cars nowadays and want to assemble your toys, Legacy Stunticons (just rereleased in a single box set for your convenience) should be right up your alley.
Jazz getting ripped in half as a kid gave me some lost hope, i was like "he didn't die, no way" just to have to rewatch the movie again to watch him get obliterated was the first time i can remember being delusional and wrong lmao, he's still alive if you believe hard enough xD
The worst part about collecting transformers, especially as someone whos new to it, its hard to find available figures because they get bought so quickly. Especially on Hasbro Pulse. Amazon has good figures but they arent always available and some of them come from untrustworthy sellers
This video is great because ive been a lego guy my whole life, until the Studio series came out. It caught my eye for years and now I finally started collecting and boy am I in it. Collecting from Hasbro is SO different from Lego. Im still figuring it out, and it doesn’t help that the majority of my purchases are on ebay at 100% increase from original price. The rise of the beast line is the first time ive been able to purchase from Hasbro directly and I missed the first 2 lines because I thought “oh ill just get that once its on shelves” which never happened because apparently you have 3 days to preorder it or youll never get it. So ive only preordered whats most recently available.

i do like the transformers back in to 80's and in mine country love the rewinds so i did watch the first generation. i did try to find the dvd's of the episodes and still love that. how ever the later show are some times ups and downs yeah i do like the beastwars but i am not so huge fans of Micheal Bay movies. but i do watch it.

I collect various series obtaining 1 of each names of the originals from G1 but I also get cool new characters, but my version of the guys come from each of the different series.
I luckily never got that many Transformers. Only armada mcdonalds optimus prime and sidways from the real armada line. Collecting Bionicles and some late 90s/early lego technic sets like those star wars sets is hard enough for me. I still like to watch Transformers lore and toy videos even if I will never buy any.
6:50 I know this is late, but i had a similer issue with my lego prime. It looks like you forgot to put a black technic pin in the middle of the ratchet joint. It's easy to miss in the instructions, and i only noticed after rebuilding it a few times. Hope this helps
Well the black zarak is a reissue of the previous war for cybertron black zarak (and same with soundwave because he's from siege and just copy and pasted into legacy) but not a reissue of the g1 black zarak, very minor but important detail to add for non tf super fans

I just got into transformers collecting this year with my Voyager Last Knight Megatron who guards my desk like Cerberus to the gates of hell, and oddly I found him in an antique store. So it’s good to find out that I’m not the only money-burning lunatic out there. Planning on getting the Bumblebee Studio Series Soundwave cause…Soundwave Superior, Autobots Inferior.
I'm surprised you like these so much. I mean they're car/human hybrids usually you find the most cars and humans in towns. And considering these come out in waves with other transformers that would make transformers a series of town sets.
The black zarak isn't a rerelease it's a remake, very similar design but severely different figure. I also got a really specific memory pepsi optimus prime was in a hobby shop's window by me from like 2000-something to 2014. I really wish the deathsaurus wasnt a haslab exlcusive bundle with a few other figures, I'd have 100% bought it if I had the money for it but now I'll never afford it thanks to aftermarket scalpers and haslabs whole "one time only pre-order online only full price"kind of deal. With other haslab stuff's history this means they're probably never going to make another one for at least probably over a decade or two, really sucks. Exclusives and distributions a real problem with transformers right now on top of scalpers for specific newer figures. NoI'm not paying 100 something dollars for the new 50 dollar "give me your face" style optimus prime solely because it's the version that comes with his trailer.They did a reissue of it and I never saw it because everyone that got it put it on ebay immediately after receiving it at an absurd upcharge and the stores that were supposed to get them conveniently through totally unknown means never got their shipments.

Zarak’s instructions make it seem harder that it actually is. I have found that picking it up and figuring it out is a good way to do it.

Reissues have made owning G1 toys feasible for a lot of people, nothing beats opening a fresh minty vintage toy

Personal faves in order are Wheeljack, barricade, starscream ,whirl, skytread and soundwave.
The real warcrime is Lego Optimus Prime's thigh stickers being upside down in the instructions and box art.

Took me right back to the best Christmas ever which ended with my Megatron and Soundwave in an epic battle against my brothers Optimus Prima and Jazz. Just a few more of the many thousands of pounds worth retirement fund I’d have if they told you what these things would be worth when you got old (and that had actually been something I could have related to).

So Lego Optimus Prime got me into Transformers and let me tell you it's hell in my country of South Africa. We get maybe, and this is being generous, 5 percent of the new releases. You may think that's because we are a third world country, but we get most other toys and luxury items. For Lego we get at least 95 percent of all releases with only some retailer exclusives falling through the cracks. We have 5 Lego stores which is more than most countries of this size. Same can be said for several other toy and collector lines. The distributor for Transformers just seems to be terrible here.

Robrick, I'm surprised you didn't pick up any awesome Transformers from Kingdom (specifically Beast Wars characters) or Studio Series, given your beginnings with the franchise. If you're more into cars nowadays and want to assemble your toys, Legacy Stunticons (just rereleased in a single box set for your convenience) should be right up your alley.
Jazz getting ripped in half as a kid gave me some lost hope, i was like "he didn't die, no way" just to have to rewatch the movie again to watch him get obliterated was the first time i can remember being delusional and wrong lmao, he's still alive if you believe hard enough xD
The worst part about collecting transformers, especially as someone whos new to it, its hard to find available figures because they get bought so quickly. Especially on Hasbro Pulse. Amazon has good figures but they arent always available and some of them come from untrustworthy sellers
This video is great because ive been a lego guy my whole life, until the Studio series came out. It caught my eye for years and now I finally started collecting and boy am I in it. Collecting from Hasbro is SO different from Lego. Im still figuring it out, and it doesn’t help that the majority of my purchases are on ebay at 100% increase from original price.
The rise of the beast line is the first time ive been able to purchase from Hasbro directly and I missed the first 2 lines because I thought “oh ill just get that once its on shelves” which never happened because apparently you have 3 days to preorder it or youll never get it. So ive only preordered whats most recently available.
I did the same thing! I live near a massive toy store so i just thought to myself "eh i'll get them once they're in stock so i dont have to mess around with the post" and here i am....toyless 🤡
i do like the transformers back in to 80's and in mine country love the rewinds so i did watch the first generation. i did try to find the dvd's of the episodes and still love that. how ever the later show are some times ups and downs yeah i do like the beastwars but i am not so huge fans of Micheal Bay movies. but i do watch it.
I was wondering if you were gonna make a Transformers video it didn’t disappoint. Starscream is probably my favorite I mean he is a jet and a robot almost as good as a Macross Valkyrie.
I collect various series obtaining 1 of each names of the originals from G1 but I also get cool new characters, but my version of the guys come from each of the different series.

I luckily never got that many Transformers. Only armada mcdonalds optimus prime and sidways from the real armada line. Collecting Bionicles and some late 90s/early lego technic sets like those star wars sets is hard enough for me. I still like to watch Transformers lore and toy videos even if I will never buy any.

6:50 I know this is late, but i had a similer issue with my lego prime. It looks like you forgot to put a black technic pin in the middle of the ratchet joint. It's easy to miss in the instructions, and i only noticed after rebuilding it a few times. Hope this helps

Well the black zarak is a reissue of the previous war for cybertron black zarak (and same with soundwave because he's from siege and just copy and pasted into legacy) but not a reissue of the g1 black zarak, very minor but important detail to add for non tf super fans
Most definitely enjoyed this video, but I’d really love a video to be made on one of the older lego Star Wars games, or just lego games in general, they were really really fun and can be bought on steam for a cheap price.

I just got into transformers collecting this year with my Voyager Last Knight Megatron who guards my desk like Cerberus to the gates of hell, and oddly I found him in an antique store. So it’s good to find out that I’m not the only money-burning lunatic out there.

I'm surprised you like these so much. I mean they're car/human hybrids usually you find the most cars and humans in towns. And considering these come out in waves with other transformers that would make transformers a series of town sets.

The black zarak isn't a rerelease it's a remake, very similar design but severely different figure.
I also got a really specific memory pepsi optimus prime was in a hobby shop's window by me from like 2000-something to 2014.
I really wish the deathsaurus wasnt a haslab exlcusive bundle with a few other figures, I'd have 100% bought it if I had the money for it but now I'll never afford it thanks to aftermarket scalpers and haslabs whole "one time only pre-order online only full price"kind of deal. With other haslab stuff's history this means they're probably never going to make another one for at least probably over a decade or two, really sucks. Exclusives and distributions a real problem with transformers right now on top of scalpers for specific newer figures. NoI'm not paying 100 something dollars for the new 50 dollar "give me your face" style optimus prime solely because it's the version that comes with his trailer.They did a reissue of it and I never saw it because everyone that got it put it on ebay immediately after receiving it at an absurd upcharge and the stores that were supposed to get them conveniently through totally unknown means never got their shipments.
One large order of war crimes for me pls.
I actually used like like both transformers and lego but I grew out of transformers.
