    Left the US and moved to Boquete some 9 months ago. Never looked back. No camera can capture the rainbows accurately. My house is up in Jaramillo Centro and my deck has a million $ view of Volcan Baru. During the dry season the bajareque, a mist from the north comes through and I get brilliant rainbows delivered to my doorstep. Saw my first toucan today. Life in the cloud forest. If you have a chance, come visit.

    Thank you for the video, and Happy New Year's Eve!
    My wife and I are planning a Panama visit this coming Spring, as we are also planning to retire there. In our research so far, we have heard about the Expat areas in Boquete, David and Volcan. One of the things not mentioned about Boquete is the amount of rain they get. I messaged with a gentleman that lived in Boquete for 18 months (he now lives in Panama City), and he told me it rains most of the year there. So, if you are not someone that is into rainy weather, you probably will not like that area of Panama.

    • @beasleyfinds
      @beasleyfinds  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Happy New Year! In my video Why are Americans Moving to Panama I discuss the rainy weather and my perspective on it. I'm from the NE USA and my feeling is that I'd rather deal with the rain than the snow as I get older and I don't mind all the fresh flowers it brings. Definitely have to live it for a while and see if it's right for you. I'd never recommend anyone to make a huge upfront commitment to a single place. Hopefully you find the sweet spot and have great success in 2023. Best of luck!

    • @beasleyfinds
      @beasleyfinds  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for watching. I see conflicting information regarding narrowest point. Some sources (that seem credible) say about 50 km (not miles) and others (admittedly) do say 50 miles. For my purposes, I measured using Google Earth and got about 60 km (~37 miles) as the crow flies. I guess it depends on how you measure things and whether you're flying or driving. In either case, it's pretty damn narrow! Thanks for your comment!

      @@beasleyfinds I stand corrected. You are absolutely correct. My Dad (rip) who was an Airborne Ranger in WW2 in the Battle of the Bulge always used that expression (as the crow flies). The shortest distance across the isthmus is about 30 miles (50 km), from the mouth of the Nergalá (Necategua) River, which flows into the Gulf of San Blas on the Caribbean shore, to the mouth of the Chepo River on the Pacific coast. Nearly as narrow is the portion of the isthmus traversed by the Panama Canal.

      That might be proof haha. I actually studied geology in school, but if I said extinct and it's actually dormant, I stand corrected. But only us nerds give a damn 🤓

      @@beasleyfinds Fellow scientist here. Hence my pedantry. LOL. I happen to live in EV, so it matters to me if it's extinct or dormant. Haha. Nice vids, btw.

      Good to meet you! I would want to know if it's extinct or not as well.. but obviously still some activity in the area with the hot springs. Be safe my friend!

    Boquete rings alarm bells to many of us bringing to memory the bizzare death of the two dutch girls.Panamanian government should reopen their case and clear it up before advertising it to tourists.Poor women need justice

      I know of the case and hear your concerns. Of course this is a sad thing that happened, but (unfortunately) lots of people get killed in many parts of the world and people still live, visit, and enjoy those places. Boquete is a safe place to visit , so no reason to think it needs to be "hidden" from tourists.
