Love how Riddler puts on glasses to appear as smart as Bruce when Bruce explains how the box works lol
If you notice he’s so obsessed that he copied him in every way
He also wore the same suit, got the same haircut, then tried to steal Bruce's girl and even got a mole in the identical area
th-cam.com/video/jkeEOfNALHs/w-d-xo.html
@@Malum09 Actually that was an idea for an alternate Bruce Wayne s-o the idea was scrapped
jim carrey as batman
I never realized that Nicole is actually trying not to laugh when she’s dancing with Jim. Lmfao!
I just notice that too - she is straight faced when he takes her hand in the following seconds - her smile is getting bigger
Same with Jim, look closely, it's actually super cute. 😆
@@adanrios3468 I always interpreted that as Chase (what a grand pursuit she must be in this scene) being genuinely wooed by Edward pulling her away to the dance. (Seriously, Jim Carrey gets ALL the girls of the 1990s! First, Courteney Cox at yet another gala event in Ace Ventura: Pet Detective. Then, Cameron Diaz for yet another dance scene in The Mask. Now, spicy Nicole Kidman in BOTH cases in Batman Forever. He is 1990s Casanova!)
@@trekwars67 let's not forget Drew Barrymore, she was actually really cute in here
@@mathildeaimee6648 of course, Two-Face loaned her out as she publicly posed as Edward's sexy date to this gala. Tbh, Bruce should have gotten back at Edward by stealing Sugar away for the dance.
I love how Nigma is trying to be the exact replica of Bruce except better in his mind anyway. Same suit same hairstyle same glasses. His ego in full form there.
@Senior Ordenanza you forgot, same mole.
Newbie TH-camr oh yeah that’s right thank you for reminding me
Well you couldn't blame him. Bruce was very successful and wealthy, and Edward wanted to have a slice of the good life as well.
well done actually
It's the perfect callback to how much he idolized Bruce at the beginning
Nicole Kidman and Drew Barrymore are just stunning
Everyone in this movie look fabulous, in fact.
@roland joffe No need to be so sarcastic, dude.
Nicole Kidman more.
@roland joffe You mean if i CAN'T take the heat.
Am I the only one who doesn’t think Barrymore is attractive?
I reckon it has to be said that despite the (at times) outrageously campy moments in this film, Jim Carrey actually nailed his characterization of Nygma. Not only his passion for a curious query, but his obsessive competitive need to outdo both his fellow criminals and Batman himself. Both of which completely drive his every action
Yeah I liked how Jim Carrey played the Riddler. The Joker with both Jack Nicholson and Heath Ledger feels he is equal to Bat Man and doesn't want to know who Bruce is because its part of the game. The Riddle view himself way above Batman so he feels entitled to know his identity.
So true. Egocentrism, narcissism and megalomania with severe obsessive compulsion. So yeah he has to be the smartest person in the room at all times, even prove it otherwise it upsets him
He was obsessed with Bruce even when he started working in Wayne enterprises.
Edward Nygma sounds like he has a narcissistic personality syndrome.
It´s amazing how good Jim Carrey looks as Edward Nygma, he´s phisically perfect for the character: Tall, thin and with the nerdy face and voice. With a good script, his Riddler could have been perfect.
The movie unfortunately wasn’t as good as I’d hoped but Jim Carey as the riddler was amazing his version of the character was my favorite
What do you mean, with a good script? Jim Carrey’s Riddler could only have thrived in this kind of Batman film, not in one of those godawful Nolan ones.
@@BLTKellys true but the execution of two face combined with the plot being poorly written made this movie pretty underwhelming but casting Jim Carey as the riddler was a stroke of genius
Really liked his performance. One of the highlights of this film. Jim could truly pull off any version/personality of the Riddler. He's super talented.
1:24 - 1:31 most underappreciated pun ever
Didn’t even realize that until now...LOL.
I only just caught it now 😂
I never saw it. It is a difficult pun to translate to my mother tongue.
Damn !!
I don't get it
Despite the issues I have with this film Jim Carey is brilliant in this he literally throws everything into it and actually cares about the character. Unlike tommy lee jones who just screams and laughs his way through it
Well isn't two faced supposed to be Slightly insane?
@Lavern Doesn't it make it all the more special that it happened right?
If Tommy Lee Jones was cast in a serious Batman film he'd be great!!
Tommy Lee Jones is one hell of an actor. But he was not exactly handed prime material to work with.
Aaron Eckharts two face was alot better
That moment when Jim Carrey was in a Batman movie.
Crimson Doodlebear that moment when Danny Divito was in a Batman Movie
and the best actor in the movie
Reason I liked this one.
🤣
He kinda was the movie for me.. I would have loved to be on set when he did the exploding ducks in the batcave scene...👌🏿
Crimson Doodlebear I wished that Jim Carrey was the Joker!
Crazy to think Drew Barrymore was still just 19 years old when they filmed this.
Can you believe that Cameron Diaz was only 18, when they filmed, The Mask?
@@gabrielromero9512 Around 21 actually. The Mask came out 1994 and I assume was filmed in 1993
@@weaponsofwarfare9537 My bad bro, you're right.
If you think that is young? She was at studio 54 at the age of 9 doing blow and god knows whats.
No wonder she's so hot
Jim really shined as the Riddler.
Garth Davis - Especially in that shiny costume he wears at the end.
yea, like most said hes the only good thing in the movie. Nicole and Drew very hot, 2-face just a bad portrayal, I just remember after the movie going Jim was great, the rest, not so much.
He did a bang on job!
I liked him before he became the riddler. In the beginning of the movie, to when he kills his boss. I feel like the build to him becoming riddler was pretty great. Plus how he had that shaggy mad scientist look. Jim was phenomenal.
Why didn’t he get Oscar nominated? 😩
i thought Barrymores character was joking about the same tuxedo but HE LITERALLY IS TRYING TO BE BRUCE. He even put on the same glasses after he did but with insecurity LOL
He's like Syndrome in The Incredibles
He even has a fake mole to copy Kilmer
That's jim carrey not Barrymore
@@sergiogonzalez903 he's referring to the character portrayed by Drew Barrymore, she was comparing them in the suits.
Nicole Kidman was in her late 20's in this movie. She was incredible and still is today.
Drew Barrymore looked so great in this movie.
I was looking for this comment. Shes sooooo beautiful!
yeah she did but those brows though lol
@@adrianarivas5043 whats wrong with them?
david rabbit i just don’t like them , lol she still looked beautiful though
@@adrianarivas5043 u look good too
Val Kilmer was such a great Bruce Wayne
I think a lot of people take this movie way too seriously and that's the reason why they hate it. Of course this is not on the level of The Dark Knight but Batman Forever is still a "fun" movie. And I love the strange atmosphere in this movie like Batman (1989) and Batman Returns.
My sister used to have a crush on him.
@@Agent1W how old are your sister

@@Agent1W that makes sense lol
The fact the music from a big orchestral band plays when theres literally just one dude with a saxophone and the rest are playing guitars and shit is hilarious

I always thought as a child that they are behind the curtains as the stage was too small
Damn, i watched this film a lot as a kid. I didn't even realize till now that was Drew Barrymore with Jim Carrey.
Haha! I know right same here
Nicole Kidman is so hot!
I completely forgot Drew was in this movie. She looks fantastic
This is such a Stellar Cast. Everyone just looks stunning
And Jim Carrey is a great choice for Edward Nigma
Everyone except Tommy Lee Jones which is unfortunate because 2face is suppose to be Batmans age and half hot
@@zachbraxton1997old ass 90s Billy Dee Williams was a horrendous choice too 🤣
People criticize Him Carreys portrayal of Riddler, but this scene here was so damn perfect. Seriously, compared to the rest of his dialogue in the film, this right here is a spot-on portrayal of Edward Nigma.
He took the crazy too far, it's like watching the Mask as Riddler. He was suppose to be insane but not Ace Ventura on steroids.
See I didn't hate Val Kilmer in this! It wasn't like George clooney always hamming all of his lines up
Schumacher admitted that he had difficulties working with Kilmer; evidently, a good leading man was the last thing that stood in his way to making the ultimate schlockfest of Batman and Robin
I think Val Kilmer was a decent Bruce Wayne and Batman. Too bad he and Joel Schumacher didn’t get along,
if given the right script and director, i think kilmer would've killed the role.
For me Clooney bobble head thing.
Clooney hamming up his lines? He was the most casual actor in the entire film, the ones hamming it up were Arnold Schwarzenegger and Uma Thurman.
I never understood why people hated this so much, it looks and sounds beautiful.
You gotta admit though, 0:36 that's gotta be one of THE funniest moments in Batman history
@@simple-commentator-not-rea7345 lol she was in Batman and Robin to
It wasn't hated until Batman & Robin, then they were lumped together.
That's not "bad" but "KAREN'S." 😑😠😡.
I will say the soundtrack is phenomenal and Val delivered one of the more complex underspoken performances as Bruce, if the deleted material were restored with some of the campy moments removed this would've no doubt been one of the best Batman films IMO.
Jim Carry was absolutely perfect on this role
Yes not as joker because joker is plain crazy while Riddler is crazy but still smart and logical
Yeah and they wasted him by making it a goofy movie instead of a creepy one like the first two
@@zachbraxton1997 it's got serious parts
Jim Carrey as the Joker and Drew Barrymore as Harley Quinn would be awesome!
No because Jim can act crazy while still being intelligent and logical like as the mask when he was the mask but also the man behind the mask
@@legolad7477 Wtf?
@@ankihansen2489 I believe Lego Lad was referring The Mask movie (1994). Jim Carrey had to play cowardly and insecure Stanley Ipkiss but also need to play the identity of The Mask who was crazy, unpredictable and prone to violence.
Joker is not much for intelligence or strength. He just willing to do what most people would find horrendous and without morals.
Right????🥰
3:02 absolutely stunning
Man, this movie sure loves its color green XD
SpawnRevenge92d oh
SpawnRevensughdjfkfkfkfdkge92
Living in Joel Schumacher's Gotham...you better not be afraid of color (no racial prejudice intended) and heights.
SpawnRevenge92 ðð
Your comment just made me realize that while green is the Riddler's trademark color, it also represents envy (i.e. 0:44)
“Shaddup. You’re here to work.” 😂
Hows my mole?
@@fleetwood7538 Fiiine
It was pretty funny of how Riddler got offended.
"How's my mole?" LOL what.
Val Kilmer, Jim Carrey, Nicole Kidman and Drew Barrymore were amazing in this Batman Forever movie.
I give val Kilmer alot of credit for his outstanding performance as Both Bruce wayne and batman in 1995s batman forever and since I realize that he has throat cancer and that he can't speak anymore I feel more sorry for him and I don't know how the throat cancer happened to him but either way it did and I hate that he can't talk anymore. One day when he leaves this world he will be reunited with his family butler Alfred and director Joel Schumacher who he never got along with a long time ago either before or after batman forever.
That reporter woman in the red dress acts so over the top.
OOOHHHHHH! THERE’S BRUCE WAYNE!
That’s Bob Kane’s wife, surprisingly.
@@jameshaggerty8348 wait for real?
Juan Diego Torres yeah! That’s Elizabeth Sanders Kane
Her name is literally Gossip Gerty.
OMG i didnt realize how many good actors were in this movie
This whole movie is like a dream with the crazy city structures and bright colors. I can dig it, almost unreal.
Young Drew would have made a great Harley Quinn back in the 90s. Missed opportunities.
I'd have gone with Helena Bonham Carter myself. :-)
Her and Jack Nicholson would've been a pretty good pairing.
Seriously, I've always thought that Drew could have been a great Harley with her red & black outfit from "Poison Ivy" (1992)
Like, that would be what she wears pre-transformation.
Its hilarious how Jim and Nicole are dancing lol
I love this movie
You can see Nicole is trying not to laugh 😂
3:12 She must be trying not to laugh
Hassan Shah of course haha 😂 why he’s so funny?
Who wouldn't? Jim is awesome!
For anybody who didn't know... That woman in the beginning that says "how does it feel to be Gotham most eligible bachelor?"
That woman is actually the wife of Bob Kane... The creator of Batman
Co-creator* Bill Finger was the actual writer.
I love this movie, it's basically the 90s rolled into one movie. Batman & Robin, however... (shudder)
I love the meta “glasses = smart” move
0:37 - that "OHHHH!" is one of the best line readings ever
“And what a grand pursuit you must be”. I’m sorry, that’s a just a great line.
2:42 Bruce asks Edward a question that could be misconstrued as a riddle. And that look Edward gives Bruce as he removes his glasses I would say is a definite look of concern like does he know I'm the riddler? I think Edward is relieved and he says too timid to try.
I think what bruce asked was literally one of the questions that would be raised when Edward first explained his invention back at wayne enterprises
3:06 "I was asking you."
Tomha Got that from the Nostalgia Critic review 😁
xD yeah, it was actually my favorite bit with just how perfect it fitted in.
I feel like that was an Ace Ventura moment there lol
I came from that😂
I could watch her say “OH!!!!!!” like a sex-crazed bison at 0:38 on a loop for hours.
This film is hilarious.
Like what nostalgia critic said: "Is everyone's acting channeling a constant orgasim?"
“Like a sex-crazed bison…” just 🤩 😂🤣😂😂🤣🤣😂🤣🤣😂🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣😂😂🤣🤣 Never heard that one before….
Many years have passed and I just realized that the Riddler's woman is Drew Barrymore. Man, she looked fantastic.

0:38 Jeez someone’s happy to see Bruce 😂
0:50 the way he says _Shut_ up! 🤣

2:30 love how riddler gets out a pair of glasses to not be outdone by Wayne
At first I thought Nicole Kidman looked amazing, but seeing drew Barrymore in this scene... god she looks perfect
2:59
Edward to Dr meridian: "Shall we dance?"
(Looks at Wayne)
Nostalgia critic: "I was asking you!"
"If you can introduce images into the mind what's preventing you from extracting images out of the mind?" Leo: "We need to go deeper"
I know people talk shit about these movies but life is so serious and depressing we need stuff like this to distract us every once and a while everything doesn’t have to be so realistic
GOTHAM MUST KNOW....OOOOHHH
somebody please make that into a meme, thats hilarious
0:38
She was a little too excited....
0:18 that LED saxophone is pretty awesome.
Say what you want about Batman Forever but you can't deny that whenever Jim Carrey appeared on screen as The Riddler, his scenes were never ever boring and were always a lot of fun to watch plus considering that this was his only appearance, i thought Val Kilmer was pretty solid as both Batman and Bruce Wayne, he definitely looked the part. I know this was a huge step down from the first two Batman Tim Burton movies in terms of the tone but i thought Batman Forver had a nice balance between the old gothic mood and the colourful campy nature
Jim Carrey with all that energy, should have been Joker!
He was perfect as riddler because he can act crazy while still being intelligent and logical like in the mask he was able to be an insane brutally hero who doesn’t what to be a hero
They’re extremely similar characters even going as so far as to become ‘friends’ in the Batman.
Drew Barrymore looking gorgeous.
2:57 Christmas, Lloyd Christmas!!
Drew Barrymore looked really hot in this movie,
3:58 that was smooth af
Riddler was WAY too obvious on desperately trying to be Bruce. Eddie, get a life. Lmao.
well, Since Bruce is the one who rejected his Box research and cut the funding, it makes sense.
The riddler has always been an insecure narcissist.
that was the point lmao
Lolll
Putting on then removing the same glasses just after Bruce does it... So good.
Bruce Wayne was written during the same era as pulp action heroes like Doc Savage and Green Hornet. Basically, rich, smart, physically fit renaissance men. Out of all the actors to portray Batman, Val Kilmer was the only one to capture this correctly. He still keeps up appearances as a likable playboy in the vein of 007. People shade him because the movie was goofy and he is blonde. His voice is still one of the best, too bad cancer took it away :(
3:12 Nicole couldnt help a little smile at Carey
"You can call me anithing you want" OMG that blonde girl! 😳🥰😍😍
That Glass's Scene With Jim Carey is just FUNNY.
3:00
Lmao...love it when Edward sticks his head out behind Bruce Waynes back, as if to say, "Yeah, Im dancing with your bitch. Whatcha gonna do about it?" and Bruce turns his head at just the right moment, as if offering a preemptive "fuck you".
Also, this is minutia, but at the 3:51 mark, Chase does follow Edwards glance towards Sugar, so she must have seen what was going down.
This is utter perfection. Critics never really got these Batman movies.
2:14 you can see the guy in the background jumping for joy. 😂😂

I didn't mind these two movies. I mean, they're no-where near as good as the Burton and Nolan films, but I think they were trying to be more like the 60s series and didn't take themselves to seriously. They're fun to watch when you're in the right mood.
@agenttheater5 The first Batman of this saga in 1989 was the only good one outta the Tim Burton movies. I Did Not care for Batman Returns, it wasn’t even a Batman movie. It was a Tim Burton movie, it was literally a repeat of Edward Scissorhands with the Penguin. This movie (Batman Forever) was a very nice refreshing change... and then Batman and Robin took it to total CRAP 💩
Drew looks like a adult version of shirley temple here, especially with those curls🥴
Val Kilmer was the best Batman/Bruce Wayne, even better than Keaton. Too Bad Kilmer got stuck with a bad script and Warner Brothers making the film family friendly.
It really is not that bad of a movie. It's got some rotten elements like a silly version of Harvey Dent but Jim Carrey is a great choice for The Riddler

Gosh, Val changed so much. I met him last year at comic con and let's just say he does not look the same. Awesome guy and actor though!
