If you’re recording music and you’re on a budget (like i was), the CT-S300 will work perfectly fine, as you can connect it to a PC via micro-USB & add VST’s to it’s track FX in Reaper or another Digital Audio Workstation to modify it’s sound down to your desire
The CT-S1 and the newer CT-S400 has the latest AiX advanced sound chip technology, hence, much improved aural and sonic realism and clarity in the sounds compared to the CT-S300.
I got the CT S300 a couple of days ago and regret it for this very reason - i.e very harpish and not at all like a piano. Will now have to return and spend a bit more.
Good comparison and tone demonstration Jeremy! The Casio CT-S1 is better than the older CT-S300 as it uses Casio's latest AiX soundchip and has many effects to improvize the tone quality, has 64 notes of polyphony, has the ability to store registration, etc. It is for people who intend to play classical music with iconic voices.
Thanks for another interesting and informative video. You didn’t mention that the CT-S300 has a pitch bend wheel but the CT-S1 does not - pretty important to increase expressiveness on certain tones.
Hi Jeremy! I have noticed that audio quality in your videos is always good and clear. let it be your voice or keyboard sound recordings. Would you please consider making a video on what is your recording setup, how you record and edit your recordings?

And Yes! That $50 is money well spent! The AIX Sound Processor is super. Whatever Casio has done with the internal amplifier/speaker system has paid off in the CT-S1 as well, sounds great. 64 note polyphony, and a little better Keybed, sweet. Look forward to seeing the CT-S400. Nice comparative review Jeremy. Would like to see a review of the Bluetooth MIDI in the future. As always, Thanks!

Now Casio has my interest in the near future after having Yamaha brand for decades and invested in changes every several years. Casio is the one to watch.
I agree with you on this one. I have both these keyboards and the CTS- 300 sounds like a toy compared to the CT-S1 and the piano sound does not sound realistic (although it’s nice to have in my vast keyboard collection). The AiX sound chip is great in the CT-S1. Plus I really don’t need all those additional voices and rhythms, just the basics, piano, electric piano, organ and strings is all I need. This new CT-S1 blows the CTS-300 out of any competition at least for me. It’s all subjective. But yes, as another reviewer mentioned the first 15 seconds was enough to make my decision and the fact that I have both keyboards I can say there’s no comparison in sound. Hi from China! I was a piano player and am moving on to keyboards. I've been watching Jeremy's reviews for hours...QUESTION for all: given the same price (secondhand trade), should I purchase a brand new Yamaha psr-ew410 OR 3-year-old Roland kb5 OR 1-year-old Korg i3 workstation?
@@JeremySee It is really a hard job to compare both keyboards. IMHO the CT-S300 will be completely superseded by the CT-S400, which has the portability and simplicity of the CT-S300 but with way better tones and more features. The only keyboard which can really be compared with the CT-S1 feature wise is the Roland Go! keys.
Hi Jeremy thanks for all the informative videos on the Casio CTS1. My mind is almost made up but I have a question: Can you tell me if the sustain pedal has to be a Casio brand?
I bought a generic pedal for my CT-S1, but I had to make sure it had a polarity switch. If a pedal doesn’t have that, it does opposite of what it’s supposed to do (my sostenuto actually damps the sounds). You can easily and cheaply find one on Musicians Friend. I think the CT-S1 comes with a pedal, but I wanted a real-piano-like one. Hope this helps.
I believe he recently made a video for the above. If you don't need or want all the other sound tones above 61, and the arranger and other features like the pitch bend wheel, the CT-S1 is fine, and you save about $30 US.
@@CourierV90 they are from the same sound engine chip, but the CT-S1 may have more complex articulated tone algorithms in the Advanced category, similar to the ones on the Yamaha PSR-E373. But the CT-S400 has more voices and a pitch bend wheel. It depends what you want and need, but they are affordable enough to be able to get both for half the price or less than some similar keyboards costing much more. Jeremy's and other videos detail the various features and good and bad things.
Been trying to buy a piano for myself from a year now my parents will not buy it for me😂😂😂 and I don't have enough money saved to buy but still I watch these videos I don't know why I like to torture myself. Was very excited for the new model but can't buy it😓❤️ I wish I can buy 1 next year
is the CT-S1 also better than the CT-S400 ?? As a pianist that doesn't need the rhythms. I just want the more durable better build quality and better sound option. What do you recommend I get under 300$?
Great review! But there is something it is still not clear for me. I am a beginner, and I have always used Yamaha keyboards. I changed into the Casio CT-S300 like a couple of weeks ago, and I can't get used to the sound of the speakers, their sound is like tinny, as if it has been robotized. Not a sound to fancy. I was checking the CT-S1, to exchange for my CT-S300, but as I checked the video, you mentioned both of them have the same speakers and amplifiers, so, is the sound the same? I would not like to buy it if the sound is the same. I can't really tell the difference by watching the video...
Hello. So you bought a new CT-S1? I had a CT-S300 and the sound of the speakers was terrible. Very unpleasant resonances and harshness, some notes sound louder than others, shoot out. But I hear that CT-S1 sounds much better, I have good studio headphones. However, this is a line-out recording. I'm also wondering what kind of sound the CT-S1 speaker has.
just got the cts300 bec my kids like its simplicity, just updated from ctk3500, this is a good update in its user interface.. the old ctk interface is like the same ones i used when i was still a kid now im a parent its still the same seems so old. so this is a good update with simple buttons, LCD screen and rugged design for the everywhere portability. sound seems the same, we could have gotten the ctx700 but kids like the dance modes and those things they like to play on so we decided on it anyway they are the ones to always use it. maybe later on when they are more mature they could go to the S1 or better pianos. thanks jeremy for the video we considered this when we got it
YES!!! Finally my most awaited comparison 😍😍 Love the comparison Mr. See, guess I am really going for the new CT-S1 ♥️🎹🎹 But also gonna wait for the comparison with the CT-X700, until the next comparison Mr. See 😁😁
I was just thinking that a CT-S1/CTX-700 would be an interesting comparison. They use the same sound chip, but it would be cool to compare the 'other' features you get with the $25 cheaper ($175 vs $200) CTX-700.
@@jfan4reva yes true~true, but I guess I'm gonna go for the CT-S400, here in the PH they are at the same price for some reason, since both got the same speaker system and some sounds(but more on the 400)
The cts1 is a real instrument, but relative cheap and portable. I love mine. The only instrument I use and is useful for me is the predetermined piano. If you have a real piano you get an only sound. Ok that's what i need a good piano sound, portable, more less cheap.
Not really related to sound quality but my cts300 isn't detected anymore after one year and hundreds of hour of good use... Driver problem or broken connector?
But now, there's the CT-S400 at $230 US. So, for me, I would rather get the CT-S1, unless I want the better sounds and the features and added voice tones of the CT-S400. The only real advantage the CT-S300 has over the CT-S400 is the easier to grab handle and better music holder. The CT-S300 sounds muffled in comparison to the CT-S1 in this video, which has much more sonic clarity.
Hey Jeremy, I am thinking of buying CTX 8000IN which is CTX 3000. Do you know, will Casio upgrade them in short term. Is it a good buy after 2 years of release? Thanks in advance.
So I noticed the CT-S400 does have a pitch bender but you also said the CT-S1 sounds better. Is there something about a sound as good as the CT-S1 that is incompatable with a pitch blender?
Can you recommend a keyboard that has an AIX sound chip or that sounds as good as the CT-S1 but also has a pitch bender? Also, do these touch sensitive keyboards have the ability to turn off touch sensitivity?
I think I'll be getting a CT-S300 as my first keyboard. The CT-S1 is a lot more expensive than the CT-S300 in my country, so I think I can sacrifice sound quality for a cheaper price.
In terms of similarity to a real piano and the feel/response of the keys to softer/harder touch, which is better, S300, S1 or Yamaha NP12, in your experience?
I have a CTS1 and the older CTK 500. CTS1 has a harder touch. As far as playing the two, I prefer the softer touch of the CTK 500. I wish I had more time to experiment with the layering on the CTS1, but I was able to combine the organ and strings. I actually was able to add a third layer, which can't be saved. I regularly use the saved organ and strings setting. When I get more time I want to see if I can add that third layer again while playing. Some of the touch sensitive settings don't seem to go off when you turn them off, (press function button and second to the last G note). I would love it if someone would demonstrate how to use the layering and other combinations on the CTS1. I have no use for rhythm or percussion settings on the keyboard. My biggest need on these two keyboards is to get a variety of quality organ sounds, more so than other settings. So far, the CTK 500 has more variety of organ presets, and a very good cathedral organ preset, which I would love it if a similar preset was offered that was more up front using the same organ sound, i.e. it sounds like you're in the back of a church, where I would like that same sound but more distinct with a bit less reverb / echo.
I keep waiting for a real "similar tones" comparison between the CT-S400 and the CT-S1, because both uses the very same technology but maybe the S1 have better quality with bigger samples???
Hello @JeremySee Which keyboard do u recommended from above 2 for using as midi keyboard for Ableton 11 ? In india 61 midi keyboard with better quality keys are way more costlier
Hi, I am a beginner planning to buy a keyboard. Sound of CT-S1 is more appealing to me but not sure if I can connect my iPad to it to learn via apps? Can you pls help me
funny, in Canada I found the ct s300 for 140$ and the ct-s1 for 270..... should I get the ct s300 just because its so much cheaper?? or get the ct-s1 simply because its overall better made and sounds way way better. Agh save money, or get a better sounding keyboard
Honestly, I think (emphasis on the "I think") that the CTS 1 is not worth it since basically the sound was the only thing that changed. AND CTS 1 has very limited sound effects. Anyways continue making good content👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Your videos have 2 trends: 1. Being truly awesome and informative 🎹 :) 2. Not putting model numbers in captions when comparing keyboards on-screen (sometimes confusing) :/
I bought a used CT-200 a couple of days ago just to have a portable keyboard. I would know that suckee tone anywhere, and the CT-300 has it. I just wonder, why oh why, can't the people who make these things combine better quality and use-friendliness. The CT-200 is very user friendly. How about tossing the new chip into the old dog?
Casio just released the LKS-450 specifically geared towards beginners. It uses the same AIX sound chip. The CT X700 also has more features for learning to play.

The CT-S300 sounds muffled in comparison to the CT-S1 in this video, which has much more sonic clarity.
Hey Jeremy,
I am thinking of buying CTX 8000IN which is CTX 3000. Do you know, will Casio upgrade them in short term. Is it a good buy after 2 years of release?
Thanks in advance.
I'm an organist and 1:36 is the moment where I decide which one to get as a portable keyboard 👀
Which one should I buy for my seven years old daughter, she has just started playing! Please recommend
CTS1 more authentic to the real piano
CTS1 imo. S300 and S400 have a bunch of features that will likely never be used, has inferior sound quality, and the keys on the S1 are better/nicer.
Wow, the sound is good
I would really appreciate if you could post some tutorials.
Btw love your videos
What is the size of the keys on cts1? Full-size, like on a grand piano, or reduced?
Its only a 61 full sized keyboard, roughly still the same size as the other casiotones
thanx, that was brilliantly helpful
How you record the sound from the casio keyboard in videos?
So I noticed the CT-S400 does have a pitch bender but you also said the CT-S1 sounds better. Is there something about a sound as good as the CT-S1 that is incompatable with a pitch blender?
I like the CT-S1 the best ☺️
Cts-1 much better sound compare to cts300...
I like the CT-S1, but the deal-breaker is no recorder. I want to record audio as well as MIDI.
Yamaha psr s 710 is now available in online
Main issue here is that they are volume level matched on some of the patches.
Same mate same...😭
Yeah, he said 50$ which I’m guessing is USD, but in Canada the difference is like 80$ USD
It is also better to compare this with the ctx300 since in other country they are priced at a similar price.
am i not mistaken? the sound of the cts1 is the same as the casio pxs1000?
Hey, can you do a review of the kawai es110 thanks
Definitely CT-S1 for me.
great video!!! 🎶🎹
In terms of similarity to a real piano and the feel/response of the keys to softer/harder touch, which is better, S300, S1 or Yamaha NP12, in your experience?
Excellent question!!
Does the CTS1 support half dampening with a sustain pedal or is it only an on and off switch?
I keep waiting for a real "similar tones" comparison between the CT-S400 and the CT-S1, because both uses the very same technology but maybe the S1 have better quality with bigger samples???
In the meantime th-cam.com/video/GrdV1gwwGBE/w-d-xo.html
Hello @JeremySee
Which keyboard do u recommended from above 2 for using as midi keyboard for Ableton 11 ?
In india 61 midi keyboard with better quality keys are way more costlier
Nice comparison 👍
Glad you liked it!
Sadly, the CT-S1 is much more expensive in Europe, nearly €300. A euro is worth something like $1.20 US. Whats up Casio?
Wait for supply to improve.
Same problem in other countries in asia, tax is so high almost half the original price😟
Hi, I am a beginner planning to buy a keyboard. Sound of CT-S1 is more appealing to me but not sure if I can connect my iPad to it to learn via apps?
Can you pls help me
theCS300 is better looking with a carry handle and more compact but the other has better oiano
Will you review the ROLAND E-X10 ?
Does the first thing you played have a name?
funny, in Canada I found the ct s300 for 140$ and the ct-s1 for 270..... should I get the ct s300 just because its so much cheaper?? or get the ct-s1 simply because its overall better made and sounds way way better. Agh save money, or get a better sounding keyboard
Plus one on the dillema
Hey Jeremy. I am currently considering between CT-S300 and CT-S400. Which of those in your opinion is better and why?
Is it touch sensitive?
Ct 300 don't think so. Cts1 i have it id touch sensitive i love it
Honestly, I think (emphasis on the "I think") that the CTS 1 is not worth it since basically the sound was the only thing that changed. AND CTS 1 has very limited sound effects. Anyways continue making good content👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Sir I have CTS1 But how I connect with my PC please, regards
Were are u located
Well Mr Jeremy Your Wrong I got A Record Button On My CasioTone CTS -300 And Yes I Checked It Correctly
Could you do The comparison between the casio CT- X700 and casio cts-1
On the way!
That's gonna be interesting
Most awaited
Can u compare S1 vs Yamaha np12
hey! nice vid, what's the song at 7:18?
I would also like to know
ahhhhh... Gymnopedie
Your videos have 2 trends:
1. Being truly awesome and informative 🎹 :)
2. Not putting model numbers in captions when comparing keyboards on-screen (sometimes confusing) :/
Great feedback!
@@JeremySee you’re the best 👌✅🙌
@6:51 can somebody tell me the title of what he was playing? thanks!!
It's one of the "Gymnopedies" by Eric Satie. Not sure which one - there are 3.
Gymnopédie No.1
Thanks!! 😁
Why don't u compare NUX NEK100 with Casio cts300?
other reviews say that some on the notes on the CT S1 pop louder mmmmm is it true
Top Sound Best Regards from Barcelona José Movilandia 😎💥💥💥👍
In your opinion for the first timer ( beginner ) who wants to learn keyboard , CT-S1 highly recommended?
Casio just released the LKS-450 specifically geared towards beginners. It uses the same AIX sound chip. The CT X700 also has more features for learning to play.
Thank you for the review demo. My choice is S1.
Looking forward for the next review.
It would be better to compare the cts1 with the ines which has the same sound chips.
CT S1. Vs CTX 700. Plsssssss..
Yes, it would be an interesting video.
Want the sound and feel of the ct-s1 and the features of ct-s300 😮💨
Entonces puede ir por el CT S400
