I actually enjoyed the “Fugget About It” gag openings lol. No one claims it’s a masterpiece but I think it’s a more than enjoyable show, and it works its way into your heart pretty easily. Also I love Uncle Cheech
I feel like that's not at all what they'd be going for _or_ want, though. Another top comment said it well when they said they know the target audience and adjust accordingly. It's not to say they don't care, but moreso that they're just having fun making the whole thing, and imo you can feel it a lot of the time
I honestly liked this "family guy clone" while it is lacking in character development it's the perfect show to watch whenever you don't have anything else to do and want to wind down. Cheap and fun entertainment which I think is why many of the episodes are streamed on TH-cam where they are easily accessible. The show knows it's target demographic and knows not to take itself too seriously because it doesn't need to.
@@garthdavis4320actually that's pretty inaccurate. Meg doesn't have any characteristics besides being a punching bag meanwhile petey has some. (besides the family doesn't actually hate him but they rather care about him at least little.)
You work is good and so is your channel,I mean it kept my laughing for hours, and to be honest you did good. Final note, amazing channel and amazing animations
Like when cookie scolds Petey for making jimmy upset because he can't paid for what Petey wanted and jimmy defended Petey which is warm my heart because usually that wont really happen in family guy... They show care for each other time and time again and to be honest jimmy is actually better than peter because when him and Cheech thought of an idea which Cheech would be the one did and jimmy actually give Cheech creative... He doesn't take the credit!!! I know saber said they are just stereotypes... They have more personality and better characters than family guy (except Meg she deserved better)
@@DawnWildFire Remember when Jimmy became an accomplished ice sculptor or when Cookie tried run her own business? Or the time when Cookie actually did a bit of LARPing? Good times...
@Alice Rivierre Good job this is so different to that show then ;) . I liked family guy, but it's hard to like almost anything about what the characters have become now.
I never felt Fugget About It was a Family Guy clone. Like you said, I felt it was more of a spoof on Sopranos. The more episodes you see, the more characters they parody. As a fan of the Sopranos and an Italian from New Jersey, I thought it was pretty fun and the stereotypes were funny.
Well it's kinda is cuz the Parents look like Louis and Stan, the Boy with the Glasses idk if he was supposed to be a Steve wannabe and the Big Sister idk if She was an Haley wannabe but the Little Girl is Different so She's isn't like Stewie but I do love the show and it's better than Family Guy
@@Chalastor146 bro who was talking about american dad and Jimmy looks no were near like stand so does cookie and Teresa is way different from hailey in every way
Wow so now every family with 3 kids and a mascot funny character relative is now a family guy ripoff. TBH it’d be more the simpsons. But the formula to this show is way different from any of those.
Yeah, it’s not fair to rant about a show just because it looks like a ripoff or doesn’t have much character development. Johnny Test looked like a Dexter’s Lab ripoff, but does that mean that’s the only problem it has? No! And not every show needs to have serious moments or development all the time.
@@kaylemathewcomendador6964 EXACTLY, so far almost every “ripoff” of Family Guy that Saber Spark makes a video on isn’t actually a ripoff. They got some of the same stereotypes, but they aren’t the same.
That's what I did. I watched some reviewer trashing this show, checked it out for myself out of morbid curiosity, and ended up liking it. Watched all three seasons, in fact. I feel like every cartoon reviewer just has a hate boner for this show just cause they don't like the artstyle. I've seen worse, and this isn't one of them.
To be fair, my Italian friend is literally a walking stereotype. The angrier he gets the more F bombs he drops with that thick accent they all have when speaking English. Speaks English perfectly fine when calm, then gets pissed and starts talking like a mafioso. He also switches sides in video games when his side is losing. So Italian.
@@PatriotAnimates @StickNimation Studios Pfft, history memes are nothing. They're not made by history buffs. As a Canadian... The "Regina" joke is pretty much the same as "Uranus" here among schoolchildren, so might play differently here. Thanks for the nostalgia trip. I completely forgot this show existed. It wasn't my favourite of our local content, but it was definitely made for a more Canadian audience.
Cant disagree more Saber, i honestly enjoy this show. Its not high form art but its enjoyable when you binge it. its not bad its not great but its enjoyable.
Are we just not gonna mention the joke about McCool’s dong? Also, this show is actually really good if you have nothing better to do. It was an amazing binge session and I’d advise anyone else who’s bored to go ahead and watch this
I watch the whole series as it came out, back in the day lol. Its funny that I only recently found it on youtube and watched it all again. The criticisms are fair, but I still enjoyed watching it. that theme though, it haunts my nightmares sometime.
I think this is a case where Saber's viewpoint is different from most people because he's a critic; critic opinions can sometimes differ from general audiences because they train themselves to measure things on a different scale. That doesn't make his viewpoint any more or less valid than anyone else's: he's just looking at it from the viewpoint of someone who's "seen it all". Like, this show might be enjoyable for most people. Heck, the review even did the opposite of the intended effect for me and made me want to check it out. But it's understandable why Saber would be personally weary of the broader archetypes, because he's taken many deep dives into much worse shows that drag them deeper into the ground. Probably one of his weaker reviews, though, I will agree with that. (Again: it had the exact opposite of the intended effect for me.)
I agree to an extent, but no one can deny that he has definitely lacked research in this review. He is missing large chunks of context that would not take too long at all to find that would help him understand some aspects in which he negatively spoke about.
@@BigNavy8175 Care to be explain them to me? I’m really curious now?! I love the premise and want to know more lol Also for the original commenter I don’t think Sabers point was to turn you off from the show I don’t think that’s the point of any critic. I think it’s just to express his own view on the show and critique it, not try to sway anyone one way or another. I haven’t finished the video yet so maybe he’ll say something about how you should never watching the show but so far it’s just his opinion. So yeah don’t feel bad about that or anything I don’t think Saber was trying to get a certain reaction or anything.
Idk why, but when I stumbled across this on TH-cam a few years ago, I got obsessed with it and wouldn't stop watching it... Then I found it on Amazon prime and binged it last week...
That Mountie isn't riding a horse and wearing red because "Canada is quirky", it's because he's a Mountie. That's his uniform and they genuinely ride horses. I'm suprised Sabre totally didn't realize that by watching the show, or researching it? It's literally one of the most visible Canadian symbols since colonization.
As someone who watched the entire show. The characters aren't as one note as you think. Sure Theresa, Petey, and Cheech are pretty basic. But even then they are pretty fun. Petey isn't even just the family punching bag. It's why he is the punching bag that makes him entertaining. He is the only one that actually has a set of morals and is self-righteous. It makes him an interesting vocal point in any episode he is the star of. Jimmy may seem like just the fat dumb dad, but look at the reason why he sold out the rest of the mob. He did it to protect his family. He loves his family and would do anything to protect them. Despite Petey being the punchbag, there are episodes where Jimmy goes out of his way to try and connect with him or help him. Case in point: Jimmy once hired a prostitute to get Petey laid so Petey would get out of his depression. It ended up costing him a whole lot of money, but he kept doing it. Then when everything fails at the end, he has a heart-to-heart with Petey about his struggles. Cookie is more than a struggling mom. She has plenty of moments with her kids and tries to help them with whatever trouble they are going through. And believe it or not, she is an actual mother. She gets upset at Petey for sinning, she grounds Theresa for her slutty behavior, and is doing her best with Gina's violent nature. She has rivalries and genuinely loves Jimmy instead of just being with him for the sake of the status quo. There are a few times when they get into big fights, mainly when Jimmy does something stupid that ruins something special for her. But it ends up being a testament to their love. As Jimmy manages to make it up to her with a big grand act. Now Gina. Again, at first glance she seems like a female Stewie Griffin. And yeah, she is. But unlike Stewie, she doesn't have any baby moments. But she does have some tenderness to her. Like going out of her way to protect Cheech, even though she hates him since he is the reason they are in witness protection. So half of the main characters are one-note, but the other characters are really well fleshed out and make the show interesting. As for the comedy of the show, that is subjective but I like it. I have always been a fan of the riskier humor.
Tbh my GF made me watch the show and at first I thought it was totally ass, but after the slow burn of like 5 or 6 episodes I found myself laughing at it and by the time Id seen like a season and a half I kept coming back just bc I wanted to finish it, it has a soul to it were most shows of this gerne are dead inside childish husks of an excuse for media shilled out by people who are looking to ride coattails and make some money off FamilyGuys ascent, Fugget About It, while honestly a fucking dumb show is still better than the rest of the shows it was listed with on this video.
I know that was funny. Usually I despise jokes ABOUT Canada or stereotypes of Canada. But when Canadians are the ones making the jokes they tend to land better.
I think jokes about Canada would be better if Canadian culture wasn't just always defining its self by the few differences it has to America. 100 years ago we weren't racist enough, now we're too racist. Make up your mind Canada. Unless that is the joke like that one King of the hill episode where that leads to an arrogant snobishness.
Is it bad that, as an American who has never been to Canada (but at least wants to visit there someday), that joke made me laugh pretty hard? I can certainly tell you there are a lot of oversensitive, opinionated people in the US that WISH the law could severely punish someone just for disagreeing with their opinions--but of course try to hide it by acting like the person with the opinion that makes them uncomfortable is the one being over-sensitive, because American political discussion is obnoxious and unproductive like that.
Family guys terrible know every five minutes you hear remains me of the time cutaway happens most of the time it ruins the mood fugget about it can't be compared to the flaming dog poo that's family guy@@Song_Bird.
An old friend of mine’s dad actually made the music for this show. I remember him telling me in grade school, and despite the fact I was too young to even watch the show, I looked anyway. He was right. So my buddy’s dad is partially the reason why the theme/end credits have been stuck in your (and my) head for so long (years for me. It’s hell).
Fugget About It is like you took the ending of Goodfellas, mixed in The Sopranos, drizzled in Family Guy, then topped it with all the Canadian, Italian, and mafia stereotypes. And it's very clever! I think it's a cool break from the usual family guy ripoffs. Yeah Jimmy Falcone (Mcdougal) is pretty similar to Peter Griffin, but unlike Peter, Jimmy is a proper dad that wants the best for his kids, loves and stays loyal to his wife, and actually puts in effort where it counts, like getting his GED in one episode, he also protects his eldest daughter Theresa from people that would no doubt exploit her slutty nature, that was actually the reason he threw Don Gambini out the window. And while the son Petey is kind of the family punching bag, everyone wants the best for him, they want him to toughen up to protect himself, gain confidence, and many of his family members are supportive of his actions, even if they see him as a wuss, compared to how the Griffins treat Meg, Petey isn't bullied to the point where he's suicidal like Meg. Gina is like Stewie but she's honestly a lot more interesting because unlike Stewie, she never strayed from her chaotic nature throughout the show's run, she still has childish behavior like she's not good at drawing, she has a teddy bear, she plays hopscotch, she asks her parents about things that she needs advice on, her mom even had to give her a talk on letting something you love go free when Gina befriended a Canadian goose. Cookie is a lot better than Lois, she may have been a stripper before marrying Jimmy but she settled down and hardly ever engages in those types of actions, she's loving and protective of her kids, and she's aware of her little girl's violent tendencies and reins her in when she can. Cheech is kinda like Brian but actually likable, if Cheech replaced Brian in Family Guy, it'd be great. Theresa is just a depraved teenager, but she still has a good heart when it counts, she helps her brother, gets along well with her sister, she's a bit like Elle Woods but not as smart or dedicated to something like law, but she knows how to use her social skills and looks to fix a problem This show had a lot of potential, it deserved better
I watched this show on Teletoon when I was younger and I honestly still think it's better than modern Simpsons or Family Guy episodes even at its worst.
Which only illustrates how far they've fallen. Even back when Fugget About It originally aired about ten years ago the few times anyone mentioned it it was as "that meh Family Guy ripoff but in Canada with Italian-American stereotypes".
I actually ended up really liking this show when I stumbled upon it on TH-cam a couple of years back. Ended up watching a couple of episodes after class for I believe a month straight.
The fact that Saber is laughing while describing the show means Fuggit About It is doing something right. Also, I do like Paradise PD when I'm drunk. Shows don't have to be great to be fun.
I'm Italian Canadian and I honestly really liked the premise of this show. They actually still play it on Adult Swim all the time and ever since I started working afternoons, I've started watching episodes again. Definitely not a masterpiece, but it definitely isn't hot garbage - I'd even say it's sometimes good
As a Simpsons fan before watching family guy, I can't stop laughing at the irony that the show once called a clone of something else went on to make its own identity and get cloned
Truth be told I Actually like FUGGET ABOUT IT more than family guy It's a nice feeling of fresh air and funny comedy that doesn't just redo the same old jokes over and over again
I can't disagree more with you. Personally I loved it, the show's pretty interesting and has a sense of humor that I love. Also gotta say some stereotypes are pretty nailed [before any knight of justice comes at me calling me a racist, I'm italian (italian italian, not new york italian), it's my god given right to talk about italian stereotypes]
I think they missed an opportunity with the amish episode. Coulda made her take off her makeup and shit because that definitely wouldnt be allowed (pretty sure they just couldn't be bothered to make a new face rig though) but after they coulda put in some sexy hyjinks and she could slowly realise that she's perfectly beautiful without all that crap, and change as a person when she gets back to society. Not entirely but become a more adult, down to earth human.
Honestly the red hair kid has been my favorite because of how unhooked she is about everything. She has no filter and as a kid! Literally what’s more terrifying than that?

@@Chalastor146 oh alright lol I genuinely thought you were gonna be another person who just wanted to start shit outta nowhere and I was sitting here like “plz let this be some kinda misunderstanding I seriously don’t need people getting onto me for something I didn’t even say”
See, the 'vagina' part would be funny if they had it said one time per episode, in some quick-paced dialogue, and never call it out. Let the viewers doubletake at first, before eventually going on egg hunts for that one moment in each episode that it happens, since none of the characters react to it, so it becomes easily missed if you're not looking for it.
There was actually an episode where another mob family in witness protection program DID use that joke too, but Jimmy was quick to tell him that the joke gets old fast. they even stopped using it after a few episodes.
Yea no Saber, you did Fugget About It real dirty. Here's why: - Aside from the general number of family members, they're not anything like the Griffins. This family actually cares for one another, even if it is shown in a pretty crude way. The only thing i agree with you on, is that the older kids don't get much in terms of meaningful purpose in the show, aside from just being put in weird and rather creepy scenarios. - Funny how you cut out the part of the intro, where they explain, how Jimmy actually went to the Feds, so they could help him relocate, so his family could be safe. It feels like you missed the one part of Jimmy's character that actually made him stand out as an adult show father. (Granted, you did explain that later in the Synopsis segment, but still wanted to point that out). - What do you mean the first pilot had more personality? It was pretty much the same show as now just looked slightly rougher for the sake of a pitch. - That statement 08:10 was just wrong on soo many levels, they are archetypes, sure, but they aren't one note, they do have some depth to them. Jimmy isn't always about violence, he actually tries to be reasonable, he only pulls out a gun when he's at his limit or it's a last resort, the closest thing to violence, is his harsh language. Cookie may not be a perfect parent, but she is definitely not incompetant. Teresa is just kinda there honestly, just your average hormonal tennage girl. Pedey is more of a dorky whimp personally speaking, i don't know where you got the idea he was a progressive leftist. Gina does have some Stewie inspirations, but other than that, she's definitely her own character and not just a poor imitation of what worked before somewhere else, not to mention she's not above being a nicer person from time to time. McCool is literally the reason why the Falcones are still in the program, sure, he may come off as a pretty one note joke, but he's a pretty good friend of the family outside of that. Also odd how you left out Uncle Cheech... - It all just sounds like you have some sort of ADHD, when it comes to the concept of a gag... These title sequences give you some idea to how Jimmy's life used to be before relocating, and seeing how they now function in comparison that, them finishing it with "Fugget About It" is both a title drop and a punchline, you aren't ment to know that, cuz they are in whitness protection. It's a you problem that you didn't found the show funny. - Yea, the animation is definitely the weakest part of the show, but it's pretty servicable overall. As you said, animated sitcomes aren't about having a big animation budget, it's more so the writing that's the big part of it. - As for the humor, it's nothing too drastic from the stuff you compared family guy to, if anything, Fugget about it is fairly tame, when it comes to relying on violence as a comedy crutch. I think they've full filled the premiss pretty well, sure, it may have some hiccups here and there, but overall, it's far better than other "Family Guy Ripoffs" - Coparing Fugget About It to King of the Hill is rather weird, like sure, King of the Hill is a better show in all regards, but these two shows have way too different vibes and ways of potraying it's characters, that i feel aren't comparable to one another. It just shows that you can't talk about a character, without calling them an archetype. - Almost as if Jimmy wants to be himself, without having to drastically change who he is as a person to fit in. It's basically if Sopranos was an episodic sitcom. - They didn't even tried to change the genera, they had a fun premiss for a show, they made it, it got a following and that's it. It's nice to see how it got relevant again and Season 4 can have a perfect time to finally release. People who made this show aren't stupid, they know what they're doing. On a more positive note, i like how Fugget About It had a really respectable trans representation, if you haven't seen it, check out the episode "The Broadfather". Anyways, that is all i wanted to say, respectfully, Saberspark, you were wrong.
Actually makes me a bit salty that every cartoon reviewer that has ever talked about this show never gave it a fair chance because "oh it looks like family, therefore bad" and pair that with the fact that it's a Canadian show, it isn't given a fair chance. I thought it was an *alright* show, definitely something to just turn your brain off to since the show just feels like dumb fun.
Well see every reviewer is reviewing so when they watch it they aren't turming their brain down, not saying saber doesn't turn his brain down to watch something, like he never really reviewed mlp but watched all of it so thats likely was his wind down show. Like you can still enjoy something even though others don't like that. Reviewers will review stuff based on rhe shows merits that they think are nesassary
Canadian animation in general has been reviewed poorly through the years because of Cartoon Network rerunning Johnny Test like crazy, which wasn't even that bad if you could ignore seasons 4 through 6.
Saber did watch it all the way through though. He makes sure to watch through all of it before making his reviews. Though I definitely understand where you are coming from. I hate it when people don’t give something a chance or attempt to watch it before making harsh judgment. For example, the show High Guardian Spice, I had heard it was terrible, so I ended up watching the entire thing. Everyone was right, it was awful, but I wanted to be sound in my judgment lol.
I think critics are always going to be a little disconnected from the audience because they have to consume a lot of media then figure out how to dissect and talk about it. I personally think dumb fun is an art onto itself and it doesn't need a ridiculous budget or high ambitions to be entertainment I suppose you could even argue if a show or movie or album helps you turn your brain off it moves from something to be critiqued and becomes almost a practical form of art, like ambient music haha
@@legendarybubbles4567 lol I did the same thing HSG. I bet a part of it is the "bad looking" animation. Like there's that one show called Chicago aunt party? And I really thought it was going to be like pretty bad I think it was reviewed pretty bad but I actually liked it and found myself sad that the last episode was the last episode. I'll probably still give this a chance depending on where it's streaming.
This is like calling a cellphone a television clone. They're similar, but completely different. I love both, but yeah, it does indeed trope on Family Guy in a way.
I think its good but i can agree that its far from a masterpiece, i like paradise PD very much but eh, some people think the jokes arw lame, witch is fine.
Plus, I loved how they displayed the slight differences between American and Canadian cultural differences, especially around guns.🤣 Jimmy getting in trouble with a firearm every now and then was great.😂 And am I the only one who didn’t think these characters were as bland as Saberspark says? I mean yes, they are stereotypes, but their characters still had some distinction.
You're not wrong. It's clear Saber Spark went on this series with the mindset that it was simply a Family Guy rip off. So he never gave the series the chance it deserved because he was too focused on linking characters into Family Guy characters and finding any error he could have with it.
Listen, Saber. As much as I love your content, I think everyone in the comments, myself included, can all agree that you pretty much screwed up this time around. Fugget About It is actually WAY better than every single season of "modern" Family Guy. Rewatch the entire show, and think about what you said the first time around.
I tried watching it. Honestly, about on par with or less than family guy to me. Jokes are kinda repetitive or drawn out, and a lot of it is gross out. Jokes were also pretty predictable, which I can at least say family guy's isnt. That's just me tho
The show honestly had it moments and should’ve focused more on them adjusting to Canada while also trying to occasionally dodge his past from coming back to get him. I think there was only one episode where the mob actually gets someone to try and whack him.
I’m surprised Family Guy hasn’t made any callouts to blatantly obvious clones like this one, considering the amount of references they make on their show. …Unless I missed something
Family Guy gave Allen Gregory a brief nod in the episode "Boopa-dee Bappa-dee", and Peter makes a cameo appearance at the start of one of the Bordertown episodes. I actually liked Bordertown, it was pretty good for what it was.
This shit is legit enjoyable, i known it since a few years ago and even consistently watching their 24h stream back when they started it, it's not by any mean better than family guy, but it has it's moment, especially after the first season. I really recommend anyone to give it a try, who know you might enjoy it more than you would expect.
@@angelicpretty777 dude, you’re missing the point. He makes money doing this so he’s gonna keep doing it. It’s called selling out. We all gotta do it some day lol
as a canadian i can confirm we're mostly pretty chill with dirtier, riskier types of jokes. in fact i believe our television networks tend to be way more lenient with censorships than america. for example, both total drama island and 16teen have episodes edited or outright never aired in america, while all were fully aired over here with no changes. also i do remember watching this show. i remember it being pretty fun but that might've been due to the fact i was pretty young and haven't developed much of a taste yet, or because i haven't seen any other family guy clones than this. i have fond memories but looking back i may just look at this show as a guilty pleasure. it's not great, but it's fun if you got nothing else to really watch
my mom absolutely eats up shows like these for whatever reason, so i actually know a decent bit about this one! it's...honestly not that bad in my opinion. the art style is unique and appealing which is hard to find with these FG clones, and the character interactions are decently funny!
Yes, you can absolutely use sterotypes and cliches as shorthand to introduce a character, make an audiance comfortable with them, laugh at them, maybe even understand them on a surface level, so long as you then take the time and effort to fill out the character underneath it. That is the difference between insulting and great content.
Honestly Saber you should try to watch all three seasons. While the show seems like a Family guy rip off with one note characters, it actually had some good stories and subverted tropes, as well as added some layers to other characters. It handled an episode where it was revealed that a relative is trans extremely well, for an adult comedy show with the usual "adult" crass humor.
I've binged the entire show, honestly I kind of like it as a "I'm gonna shut my brain off and watch this Canadian family guy for a bit" kind of entertainment.
3 or 4 years ago i physically couldn't stop watching it. I never laughed once, I just watched it with a straight face. It was mesmerising I couldn't stop.
For real... It's funny how this guy mentioned himself that Family Guy is (obviously) a Simpsons ripoff but still tries to draw parallels between Fugget About It and Family Guy, instead of comparing it to Simpsons. Damn ya shallow, my man.
I honestly do not understand his opinions at all on this one tbh 😭 ts is hilarious, the only joke I ever disliked is the Regina in the beginning Edit: hell the lil "Fugget about it!!" Thing they do in the beginning is adorable
hes still right, these ppl are low taste ppl who like mediacracy and apparently where born yesterday. Sber on the other hand is a critic, not a simple minded consumer
I have to disagree with your statement of it being average, this show is definitely simplistic but it shows so much promise through character interactions and jokes. Sure some jokes can get repetitive but that charm of familiarity with the show and the viewer is what at least made my experience very comfortable with it. So personally I’d categorize this show as pretty good
It took me a couple episodes, but I found myself loving this show. The comedy is on point and well timed and the characters get more developed as the show progresses. Also, you totally missed the point with McCool and riding off on his horse. It's not just how he rides off each episode, it's line he says before doing so. The enthusiasm he has for his job and everything he does kills me every time.
You know what. I respect you most people would just shit on the show but your saying you like it even on a video with someone saying why it sucks...I have mad respect keep enjoying the things you enjoy
I don't know. I don't see it exactly like a Family Guy rip off. Explaining that would be a long essay of an episode. But while I did enjoy the video, and agree on some points you made, I feel you're holding it up to a high standard than it should be - considering you're using King of The Hill as an example in a video about a Family Guy "rip off". So while there are valid points you made, I wouldn't say they deserve being on the same wall of fame as The Prince (a God awful show) and the other one that I shall not name. Fugget About It has some good humor. Some may occasionally come off as forced, but overall they're pretty good with how it relates with their one-note characters and the situation they're in. Not gonna lie, I actually enjoy the Canadian guy. He may be one-note most of the time, but the show has occasions where he goes off-script and can be quite harsh (e.g when he was framed for having sexual relations with the daughter). And theme song is not as bad as you comically put it. It's catchy and fun, including that segment where the characters are gathered in one place and talk before the episode really begins. I think with the "...fugget about it" is one of its own charms. And I wouldn't call the dad stupid like Peter. Sure, he does some stupid things, but much of it is chucked up as ignorance from his time as a mobster. Peter is stupid because of...reasons. And as for the girl and her mom are the closest to a Family Guy rip-off. And even then it seems the girl is less of it. She's not a genius, and she's not scheming to kill a family member (if anything she helps out whenever she's interested). She does show some of the evil tendencies that early seasons Stewie had, but overall she's barely like him. So yeah, I feel you review made it out to be worse than it is. The show could need some reworking like you said. And I don't like everything about it. I would like to see it give more meaning to the one-note characters too. And maybe turn down the sexualizaton when it comes to the other daughter. But I think it's a "ripoff" that did some things better. But hey, if you or anyone made it this far and you disagree with me, then say something or...fugget about it. (Yes, I said it).

If you're interested in Family Guy clones, there's a Spanish one named: "Qué bello es sobrevivir", I think it was never released outside of Spain because it had a lot of references to Spanish humor and politics. In this version, "Stewie" is the grandma, trying to kill his son-in-law. A fun fact is that the main character voice actor is the same we have in Spain for Peter Griffin.

This makes a lot of sense.
Wow!Good analysis .
critics are also pretty much obligated to pay attention, they aren't really allowed turn their brain off
I agree to an extent, but no one can deny that he has definitely lacked research in this review. He is missing large chunks of context that would not take too long at all to find that would help him understand some aspects in which he negatively spoke about.
@@BigNavy8175 Care to be explain them to me? I’m really curious now?! I love the premise and want to know more lol
Also for the original commenter I don’t think Sabers point was to turn you off from the show I don’t think that’s the point of any critic.

That Mountie isn't riding a horse and wearing red because "Canada is quirky", it's because he's a Mountie. That's his uniform and they genuinely ride horses. I'm suprised Sabre totally didn't realize that by watching the show, or researching it? It's literally one of the most visible Canadian symbols since colonization.
as a Canadian this is very true
tbh, it seems like a show where if you aren't familiar with Canada, you won't enjoy it nearly as much.
That and the mountie is a horse
Sabre isn't exactly smart.
Saberfart aint exactly smart
Yea I'm not that good at English to put my love for the show into words but this was really good🥲❤

As a Canadian I love this show. Cause it feels so true. "This is canada sir, I'm arresting you for hurting my feelings" just makes me go SOOOO TRUE.

Theresa is just a depraved teenager, but she still has a good heart when it counts, she helps her brother, gets along well with her sister, she's a bit like Elle Woods but not as smart or dedicated to something like law, but she knows how to use her social skills and looks to fix a problem
This show had a lot of potential, it deserved better

See, the 'vagina' part would be funny if they had it said one time per episode, in some quick-paced dialogue, and never call it out. Let the viewers doubletake at first, before eventually going on egg hunts for that one moment in each episode that it happens, since none of the characters react to it, so it becomes easily missed if you're not looking for it.
There was actually an episode where another mob family in witness protection program DID use that joke too, but Jimmy was quick to tell him that the joke gets old fast. they even stopped using it after a few episodes.
"Regina"
The joke sorta fits because they do that in Canada, kids like to call Regina 'Vagina'
Yea no Saber, you did Fugget About It real dirty. Here's why:
- Aside from the general number of family members, they're not anything like the Griffins.
I think they've full filled the premiss pretty well, sure, it may have some hiccups here and there, but overall, it's far better than other "Family Guy Ripoffs"
- Coparing Fugget About It to King of the Hill is rather weird, like sure, King of the Hill is a better show in all regards, but these two shows have way too different vibes and ways of potraying it's characters, that i feel aren't comparable to one another.
Fuckin nailed it duder
I personally think dumb fun is an art onto itself and it doesn't need a ridiculous budget or high ambitions to be entertainment
I suppose you could even argue if a show or movie or album helps you turn your brain off it moves from something to be critiqued and becomes almost a practical form of art, like ambient music haha
I love both, but yeah, it does indeed trope on Family Guy in a way.
th-cam.com/video/8LlWhdBqXBA/w-d-xo.html it’s finally here
I don't think it's a clone, It's a loved series about an italian-new York family with actually decent writing and great fan support!
It's a brainless series that added nothing but a quick and cheap laugh and all the characters are just basic stereotypes.
@@spideyguy3315 The stereotypes are the humor, and you can have your own opinion on things but I think it's ok
I think its good but i can agree that its far from a masterpiece, i like paradise PD very much but eh, some people think the jokes arw lame, witch is fine.

Plus, I loved how they displayed the slight differences between American and Canadian cultural differences, especially around guns.🤣
Jimmy getting in trouble with a firearm every now and then was great.😂
And am I the only one who didn’t think these characters were as bland as Saberspark says? I mean yes, they are stereotypes, but their characters still had some distinction.
Gina was the best one. Seriously she is amazing
Saberspark is a bit off base by referring to Gina as "Girl Stewie". She's got a bit more to her than being the baby hell bent on world domination
McCool said in the cuba episode that Canada has no human rights abuses, then the native American guy pretty much says are you sure about that
@@killerbee1974 that was a great scene!🤣
You're not wrong. It's clear Saber Spark went on this series with the mindset that it was simply a Family Guy rip off. So he never gave the series the chance it deserved because he was too focused on linking characters into Family Guy characters and finding any error he could have with it.
"Well, now what?"
"We order a pizza, and a therapist"
Ok that was actually kind of funny.
"This is Canada sir, I'm arresting you for hurting my feelings"
As if Amercian cops don't arrest people who offend them.
I'm glad that this show is getting love because I have a lot of nostalgia for it
Holy crap, when you mentioned King of the Hill I, again, realized what a masterpiece that series was and still is.
I used to love Fugget About It.
It was one of my favourite shows when it was airing, wish it didnt just stopped.
I actually kinda liked this show alot more than family guy, just because it was on adult swim alot more

Do what Gumball did in "The Copycats" to roast all of the clones lmaooo
Family Guy gave Allen Gregory a brief nod in the episode "Boopa-dee Bappa-dee", and Peter makes a cameo appearance at the start of one of the Bordertown episodes. I actually liked Bordertown, it was pretty good for what it was.
Because they copied the Simpson so how could they? Lol
This shit is legit enjoyable, i known it since a few years ago and even consistently watching their 24h stream back when they started it, it's not by any mean better than family guy, but it has it's moment, especially after the first season. I really recommend anyone to give it a try, who know you might enjoy it more than you would expect.

as a canadian i can confirm we're mostly pretty chill with dirtier, riskier types of jokes. in fact i believe our television networks tend to be way more lenient with censorships than america. for example, both total drama island and 16teen have episodes edited or outright never aired in america, while all were fully aired over here with no changes.
also i do remember watching this show. i remember it being pretty fun but that might've been due to the fact i was pretty young and haven't developed much of a taste yet, or because i haven't seen any other family guy clones than this. i have fond memories but looking back i may just look at this show as a guilty pleasure. it's not great, but it's fun if you got nothing else to really watch

So, you didn't FUGGET ABOUT IT!
my mom absolutely eats up shows like these for whatever reason, so i actually know a decent bit about this one! it's...honestly not that bad in my opinion. the art style is unique and appealing which is hard to find with these FG clones, and the character interactions are decently funny!
I think that Saber is forgetting the time where Peter literally watched a hen rub it’s chest against a glass and then lay an egg against it
3:24 I can’t believe you didn’t play the full version. Literally heresy.
Yes, you can absolutely use sterotypes and cliches as shorthand to introduce a character, make an audiance comfortable with them, laugh at them, maybe even understand them on a surface level, so long as you then take the time and effort to fill out the character underneath it. That is the difference between insulting and great content.
A character with a stereotype is fine, a stereotype with no character is a tragedy.
That's why stock character is a thing.
The shows humor and plot are just stupid AF, absolute dumpster fire of pack of dog shit.
We live in a Qualiy-Drought.
So it’s NOT a clone?

SO TRUE
Family guys humor is kinda ass
For real... It's funny how this guy mentioned himself that Family Guy is (obviously) a Simpsons ripoff but still tries to draw parallels between Fugget About It and Family Guy, instead of comparing it to Simpsons. Damn ya shallow, my man.
true
I actually really like Fugget about it. They take the theme and run with it instead of pure random bs
I could rant for paragraphs about how this man dunked on this show that i have an emotional attachment to, but honestly, fugget about it.
"I'm arresting you for hurting my feelings" wow that's the most accurate cop I've ever seen in a cartoon
I’m honestly surprised by how different the opinion of the comments are to sabers opinions which is why it’s good to watch more than one review
I honestly do not understand his opinions at all on this one tbh 😭 ts is hilarious, the only joke I ever disliked is the Regina in the beginning
Edit: hell the lil "Fugget about it!!" Thing they do in the beginning is adorable
The only other channel that review this is marsreviews, so is pretty limited.
hes still right, these ppl are low taste ppl who like mediacracy and apparently where born yesterday. Sber on the other hand is a critic, not a simple minded consumer
This show is kinda a guilty pleasure? It’s definitely reminiscent of Family Guy but it’s also full of Canadian jokes that are humourous.
Nah not really a rip off and more it's own thing 🤣 would love to see a season 4
I agree this show has earned a spot on one of my favorite shows I've ever watched
I finished the show very quickly, and still find the jokes funny. I like the sometimes very violent parts and just sometimes the random plot twists.
FUGGIN' CRY ABOUT IT!
I heavily disagree I love it! It’s original and I like the story.
I can just look at the shows art style and think "Family Guy Clone."
Literally every animated adult comedy's artstyle is "Family Guy Clone" at this point.
To be honest I don't see it, sure the characters in concept and personality are basically the same (e.g. the little girl being genderbent mafia stewie) but art style wise? I don't think it looks similar at all really
Such a generic art style
Thats what turned me away from this show and even after this review I'm not slightest bit interested
Family Guy doesn't own "cartoony basic animation" as a style. They weren't even one of the first shows to use that sort of style.
I have never disagreed with you more than I do now. And this is NOT a "Family Guy Clone".
It's like Lion King and Kimba, it's usually based on tropes that already existed and faint similarities
